1 Hour Wildlife Photography in the Forest

Good morning everybody. Today we have a 60 minute challenge because I slept in late this morning and I woke up and there was this beautiful sunshine and there are lots of birds around at the moment enjoying the sun, enjoying the warmth, even though it is really cold. And I skipped breakfast because I wanted to get out as soon as possible. That's why I don't have much time today and I thought why not try a 60 minute challenge. I'm in a local forest area. It's 8 30 right now and I will see what I can find within the next 60 minutes. I will photograph whatever comes across me. Usually there are a few birds around here like woodpeckers and smaller birds. Maybe if you're lucky even a buzzard. But those are usually really shy. I invite you to enjoy this beautiful sunny morning with me. Let's go. Pigeon over there. As it's back towards me, hello. Now he's turning around. Oh and great spotted woodpecker. I have to change my focus area otherwise I can't focus on him. The downside to photographing in the forest is that usually birds are high up in the trees and it's first of all it's really difficult to hold up a lens like this for a long time. It gets exhausting. And second of all the angle of the photos are usually not that nice. There's a blackbird right there. Nice. And there's another blackbird. Let's also get a video. Let's go to one of my favorite spots here in the winter time which is a bird feeding station in this open field right here. And usually there are lots of woodpeckers, nuthatches, robins. There's a lot going on here usually. So over there there's that bird feeding station and you can see there's already a lot going on. There's a woodpecker. Oh we're so lucky. Usually whenever I sit here there's so much going on around me that I don't even know what to photograph. And there was also a jay in the distance that is so loud. Oh there he is. Now I can only see his butt. Unfortunately though this area is in the shade and I actually wanted to get more photos of birds in the sun. Well there's a squirrel up on that tree but there's so many branches. Oh come on. Focus. Let's move in that direction maybe we'll get a photo. There he is. Cutie. Oh there's two of them. They just had a little fight but to be honest the camera is getting so heavy I can't lift it up that much longer anymore. So one is over there now and the other one is just climbing up that tree. But I gotta be honest I can't lift my camera up anymore because my arms are just too weak. Did you just see it jumping over to that other tree? That is so cool. I'm actually a little disappointed that I didn't see any nuthatches today. I love nuthatches. As a kid I used to say that nuthatches are the downgraded version of a kingfisher because I thought that nuthatches and kingfisher look at least a little bit similar. Oh there's a nuthatch just as I pressed the record button it flew away. Now he's coming back. We can also get a video if we're quick enough. We are not unfortunately. Now he's on the ground. I did get a decent photo that's fine with me. There's a robin right on that branch. Can't get the camera to focus. Shoot. With robins you usually have a little bit more time because they're not that skittish. They're not that shy. That's a better view. I love robins. They're such brave little hearts. So it's 9 30 60 minutes are over and all in all I am not disappointed. We did see a woodpecker. We actually got pretty close to a woodpecker. We saw a nuthatch. We got some cool squirrel footage and for one hour I think that is pretty good. I hope you enjoyed today's little video. I will be heading home now.
