CRAZY GERMAN BASKETBALL GAME

What's up, people? So yesterday, our football team, the Stradivarius Unicorns, we went as a team to a professional German basketball game. And it was crazy. All the Americans are back there, Tord. The Americans are, too? All right, here we go, Tord. We ain't going nowhere. German professional basketball game. Unicorns are going in. The team is the Krausheim Merlins. It's a professional basketball team, like, 20, 30 minutes here from Schwäbisch Hall. So the first thing that I noticed when I walked into the arena was how loud it was. This is crazy. It was not like a normal basketball game that you go to in the States, where people are just cheering. There were drums, and everyone was banging these noisemakers all at the same time, all in sync, to make it so, so loud. It was a crazy environment. The fact that people had drums still blows my mind. It's amazing. You can't bring, like, any type of noisemaker, let alone an actual huge bass drum, into an arena or into a sporting event in the States. So that's something I thought was really, really cool. And it just adds a whole other level of energy to the game atmosphere. One of the things that was really interesting was the announcer. He was more like an MC hype guy than a traditional sports announcer. He would announce what was going on in the game, but he would also be hyping up the team, hyping up the crowd. He'd be chest-bumping and fist-bumping with the players. He would yell during the game, you know, Auf geht's, Merlins! Let's go, let's go! Lauf, lauf, lauf! Run! And it was awesome. Our whole team sat together. We all had, like, these green unicorn shirts on so people could tell that we were a team. And the MC announcer guy gave us a couple shout-outs, which was pretty sweet. Of course, we enjoyed a refreshment. At the game, I think it's illegal to watch a sporting event in Germany without having a beer, so we complied. It was actually a really, really good game. The away team was winning up until midway through the fourth quarter, and then the Merlins turned it on. The place was on fire. The fans were going crazy. The MC was going crazy. And the Merlins came back and actually won the fourth quarter, which was awesome. It was really cool. After the game, the Merlins won. The crazy announcer MC guy went over to the opposing team's fan section, kind of gave them a wave, gave them some respect, and they were giving waves right back. They were so crazy in the game. It felt like they would be the type of hooligans to fight and stuff, but after the game, everyone was so classy and giving each other respect, which was really, really cool.
