One of the best ways to improve your English speaking skills is with conversation practice.
Hi everyone and welcome back to my channel.
Today we are doing a speak with me video in three parts.
Part one, you will listen to a natural conversation.
Part two, you will repeat after me to practice clear, natural pronunciation.
And part three, you will speak with me.
We will role play the full conversation from part one.
I will say one line and you will say the next line as it appears on the bottom of the screen.
Let's begin with part one.
You will hear two people meeting for the first time at an event.
In part one, you just listen.
Are you ready?
Hi, I don't think we've met before. I'm Sophia.
Hi Sophia, nice to meet you.
I'm Alex.
Nice to meet you too.
So, how do you know the host?
We actually used to work together a few years ago.
What about you?
Oh really?
I met her through a friend from university.
We ended up working on a project together last year.
Ah, I see. Small world. It really is.
Are you enjoying the event so far?
Yeah, definitely. It's been really interesting.
I've already had a few good conversations.
That's great. What do you do?
I work in marketing for a tech company.
I mostly focus on digital campaigns.
And you?
I'm a graphic designer.
I work mainly with small businesses and start-ups.
Oh nice. That must be quite creative.
It is. I really enjoy it.
But it can be a bit stressful sometimes.
Yeah, I can imagine.
Deadlines?
Clients always want things done quickly.
How long have you been in marketing?
About five years now. I started straight after university.
What about you?
Pretty similar actually. Around six years.
Do you work freelance or for a company?
Freelance. I like the flexibility.
But it does mean that I'm always looking for new clients.
I can imagine.
Events like this must be useful then.
Yes. That's why I try to come to as many as I can.
What about you? Are you trying to expand your network?
Definitely. I'm always interested in meeting new people.
You never know when you might collaborate on something.
That's true.
Maybe we should exchange details.
Yeah, that would be great.
Perfect. I'll send you a message later.
Sounds good. I'm glad we started talking.
Me too. Enjoy the event.
You too, Sophia.
Okay, that was part one.
You have heard the full conversation.
Now we will move on to part two.
This time you are going to repeat after me.
You will repeat Alex's sentences only.
That way, in part three, you can say Alex's lines
and role-play the conversation with me.
So listen first, then repeat.
Try to use the same intonation, the same sounds as me
when my voice goes up and down.
Try to copy.
Ready?

Great job. Now it's time for part three.
The most important part.
This time, you speak with me.
I will play Sophia, you are Alex.
The subtitles will appear on the screen to help you.
But try to speak, not just read.
Let's go.
