Restoring a 17th Century Cabinet Painting - The Violin Player
Feb 20, 2026 BLOOMFIELD ART | FINE ART RESTORATION | FRAMING
This week’s studio project is a small but fascinating 17th-century cabinet picture painted on tin. It’s not a dramatic rescue — but it’s a perfect example of the kind of careful, thoughtful restoration that makes up much of studio life.
These quieter restorations are often the most satisfying , subtle improvements that bring back depth, colour and atmosphere without overworking the surface. I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for supporting the studio and allowing me to share both the dramatic projects and the quieter ones.
