Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefed lawmakers yesterday about the U.S. operations in Iran. The goal of the briefing was to reassure Congress members that the administration’s initial strikes on Iran were aimed at eliminating Tehran’s missile stockpiles and degrading other military capabilities.

While Republicans largely reiterated their support for the operation, many Democrats left the classified session with complaints.

The debate is now intensifying on Capitol Hill over the War Powers Act, as Senate Democrats face a vote on whether to block President Donald Trump from using additional military force against Iran. House Speaker Mike Johnson has argued that Operation Epic Fury does not constitute a formal war and therefore does not require congressional approval.
