After a devastating storm in Kenya, a newborn elephant calf was left completely alone.
Her mother was struck by lightning while giving birth — and soon, fear spread through a nearby Maasai village. When people who tried to help were injured or killed by the storm, the villagers became convinced the calf was cursed.
No one would touch her.
No one would feed her.
They believed helping her would bring death.
