Great to see you. How are you?
Yeah, I'm bad, honestly.
That was alright, wasn't it though?
Yeah, it was crazy.
How great was it to be back out there playing football in the Premier League?
I miss this, you know.
It is what it is. I had a big injury and I needed the time.
I enjoyed myself and I worked hard to come here in this stadium, this environment behind.
To be fair, I think it was more on willpower than anything else.
But yeah, it was crazy.
We were just saying, how can you be that sharp after that long out?
Well, I think like I said, I think it's more on willpower than sharpness.
I know I'm not able to do that for 90 minutes for the moment.
But I know I can put in a shift for 20-25 minutes at full pace.
I feel it in my lungs, you know, with the cold.
But, you know, it can't be any better than this, can it?
What do you enjoy more?
I mean, you're a player who gets fabulous goals, but also you seem to enjoy assists as well.
What's your preference today? You've got a goal and an assist.
Which one do you like best?
I think the way that I play, it's assists.
But, you know, obviously it's great to score the goal, obviously.
Here's the assist. You can watch it back yourself.
Beautiful.
Yeah, the ball is good.
But, you know, the run from Oscar is amazing because he goes in behind Trippier
and then the control at that pace and going around the keeper in the last minute is top.
Does his run tell you when to play the ball?
Yeah, I look at his run.
If he doesn't run, I can't pass the ball.
So he dictates what I can do and then I try to do my best and give him the ball.
I was going to ask the same question, but did you envision that impact before the game?
No, not at all.
Honestly, I don't know what to expect.
I've never experienced this in 14 years that I've been playing football.
You know, like I said, I worked really hard.
I tried to change a couple of things because I had the time and being able to change some things.
I think, well, when you play all the time, it's very difficult to do different things.
But I think I found a couple of things and I hope I can maintain that.
Kevin, we were watching the celebrations after the game and we were saying it almost feels like
that individual game felt like a final in itself.
Why was it so important to you?
Well, I think, you know, to come here is always a different ground.
I think everybody was really happy for me, obviously, with everything that happened this year.
But, you know, we want to, yeah, try and compete again for the league.
And, you know, we're up there with all the other teams and, you know,
before the break to win here at St James' Park against a really good Newcastle
is a tough game, so it's important.
How hard has it been for you not playing football this long?
Honestly, it's not been hard.
You've been enjoying it.
I've been, you know, obviously the beginning is a big blow,
but then I'm not the kind of person who stands still and what could have happened or not.
You know, like I said, I enjoy myself being able to do things that I'm never able to do.
And I worked hard and now I'm happy to be back and compete.
Are you now making up for lost time?
You missed five months of the season and now there's just a run in now almost.
Are you thinking now this is my time to shine now and make an impact?
I hope so.
Obviously, the start is good, but I know I need to keep doing what I do
and work hard and get sharpness and hopefully I can get the upwards trajectory.
Kevin, thank you so much for joining us.
Congratulations as well.
What a return.
Well done.
We hope to see a lot more of you in the next part of the season.
Take care.
Go get yourself warm.
Thank you so much.
