If No Deal Reached in Geneva, US to Strike Iran Within Days: Military Analyst
Retired Marine intelligence officer Lt. Col. Hal Kempfer joined NTD to discuss President Donald Trump’s military buildup in the Persian Gulf and eastern Mediterranean Sea, Trump’s demands, and Iran’s circumvention of nuclear inspectors. Kempfer also discussed Iran’s possession of ballistic missiles that Trump addressed in his recent State of the Union speech, the president’s desire for regime change in Tehran, and the maximum-pressure negotiations required for Iran to make concessions.
The challenge with a U.S. intervention, Kempfer says, is preventing a surge of Iranian nationalism that would rally around the regime. Trump has said he wants to help the protesters. Kempfer discussed the challenge of using U.S. military might to enable the protesters to overthrow the autocratic theocracy, and the implications for the Chinese Communist Party, which imports 80 percent of Iran’s oil production.
