Hidden in the Woods of New York — Is This the Future of the American Cabin?

Neue Cabin is a contemporary woodland retreat designed by S3 Architecture, located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY. Completed in 2022, the home reinterprets the traditional Upstate cabin through a modern lens, combining cedar shake cladding, sculptural dormers, and expansive glass openings that connect the interior to its forested surroundings. The approximately 1,900-square-foot residence includes three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, with a warm yet refined material palette featuring hardwood floors, porcelain tile, Danish cabinetry, and a wood-burning fireplace. Built using modular construction techniques, the project emphasizes efficiency, craftsmanship, and a seamless relationship between architecture and landscape.
