I think I should practice a little bit of sand riding So, there's just a beach right over here I kind of want to learn to power slide, you know? My journey began at North America's most northern drivable point After riding through Canada and America I've crossed over to Europe From there, I'll make my way across Asia and down to Australia New Zealand's southern most drivable point will mark the end of my journey I'm calling it the big spiral And this is Act 4 A lap of Ireland and the United Kingdom Okay, good morning So today I'm going to head over that way to the Isle of Skye And so I have a ferry booked I'll have to be there by maybe 10.15 or something like that It's 8.30 right now And I'm thinking Well, there's going to be a lot of sand in my future And, uh I think I should practice a little bit of sand riding So, there's just a beach right over here And I think if I go this way, I can get onto it I did a little research I think it's okay to ride on the beach Here, so So, I'm gonna do a little sand riding, a little practice And then we'll head over to the ferry And then after the ferry, I've got a couple things planned as well, so But man, the weather is so nice today This should get me to the beach Oh, yeah, people are driving this way Okay, stand up a bit Uh, yeah, looks like they're driving on the beach Oh, some fresh tracks too, I think Haha, awesome Oh, bike's moving around already It's really quite hard packed here actually So it's not too... Seems fine I kind of want to learn to powerslide, you know? Maybe not with all the stuff on the bike Alright, let's see if we can Mess around a little bit with the drone and The bike a little lighter Still a whole bunch of stuff on it I lost the drone already Come, come on little drone Just trying to get the weight as forward as possible It feels like it's sliding a little bit, but not much Oh, I got to slide a little there, it felt like I think the more I lean it, the more it'll slide It seems like Oh, front was pushing a little there Okay, let's try up here, it's a little softer A little scared though I don't think I'm sliding much at all Oh, where'd the drone go? Drone's gone Alright, and now this is the beach, let's see how this Sand works up here Definitely softer here Alright, let's turn off into this, let's see It's kind of fun actually Into the stones maybe a bit The stones have more grip Almost dropped it My new clutch What happens if I go up through here? It's kind of fun actually Stones? Yeah, stones are a lot easier to ride on actually Okay, I got the navigation figured out, but I think I want to just Since I've just been in a whole bunch of sand I just want to put some oil on my Little chain oiler thingy Doodle, whatever Thingy doodle Try to keep the sand on the chain oiler too Oopsie Got to take care of the chain Make sure everything's on the bike before I leave I've already experienced a little bit of a Shedding? Load shedding? I don't know what you call it Alright Cool That was Good practice, I think Yeah, there's going to be a lot of sand in my future, I think And There's not a lot of places to practice I think the last time I really spent a lot of time in sand Was in Utah, I believe So Yeah, basically A long time ago So I just need to You know, keep getting better at it Because You know Like I mentioned earlier, I want to head south Yeah, I want to head south Loch Maddy Loch Maddy? Yes, thank you Alright, thank you Alright, so maybe Just quickly, I'll show you where we are Alright, so This is the Outer Hebrides here And this is the Isle of Skye here And I think we're going to end up Somewhere in here Uig? Oh yeah, here So Just off the coast of Scotland And heading kind of back towards the mainland It looks like the mainland There's no ferry here, but Yeah, it is an island, so And, uh, Isle of Skye is Is quite famous for being beautiful So, I'm looking forward to it Should be good Alright, I'm first one Have you got a seat or stand? Uh, no, it's just side stand Just go to this side, does it? Uh, this side That side, alright Yep Just come a wee bit further K That'll be fine there, right? K Well, I think this should be the last ferry for a bit Oh, there might be one more But it's kind of a special one A completely optional one But we'll see I'm not sure I'll take it yet Alright Isle of Skye And the sky isn't so bad right now, is it? Alright, I just gotta figure out where I'm going Oh, that guy has a kilt He's wearing a kilt That's so exciting It's more of those black houses Is it? They're kind of everywhere, aren't they? Wow It is pretty here It is somewhat pretty Wow Hey, it's not bad, right? Oh, well we're getting to the destination here Well, the destination The thing I wanted to show you Oh yeah, it's on the other side right now So It's another ferry And it's over there And it's a It's a special Special ferry In that It has a turntable on it And I'm not talking about like a record player It's um Well, maybe I'll explain as I go over Alright, so it's a turntable ferry And I think we're gonna see It's a little trick here in a second Oh yeah, they do it by hand That's so cool And I suppose it's my turn now Hey And now I get turned Oh, this is so cool There's a dog on here Hello Alright, now we're spun around So the idea is that You'll notice when we cross That there's actually a fair bit of current And if they just docked like right at the end of the The ramp The ferry would get taken by the current So that's why they have the turntable So they can kind of park next to the side of the ramp And the ferry's kind of butted up against the ramp So that's why they do that You can see he's kind of Going up the current The ferry doesn't go across straight It kind of like is fighting the current as it goes across Yeah, you see You can see he's kind of like doing a big drift And the ferries, it's kind of obsolete actually Cause there's If you go up the inlet here, the way I'm facing There's actually a bridge now But there has been a ferry running here Not this specific one, but Uh, for 400 years And I believe this one was introduced in the In 1937, I believe Hi One way? Eh, most of the time Unless they run away Which side do they belong on? We all live in Blenheim Oh, okay Yeah That's cool We get bored Yeah So this is I don't know if I mentioned it yet So this is the only turntable ferry in the world I suppose it's Almost time to To embark again But it's Time for one more turn, I suppose Good? And that's the only turntable ferry in the world And it's right here So cool Okay Uh, so there's I think a hostel on the other side of this pass here I'm gonna head to You don't have to back up There's enough space for both of us It's not a bad little valley, I have to say Hey, I don't mind these mountains I don't mind these mountains one bit It reminds me a bit of home I don't know Any time there's a pine forest Yeah, it's like home Alright, I think if we turn down here There should be a hostel? Radigan? Oh, yeah Alright, well, I can understand Why the Isle of Skye is so popular It reminds me a fair bit of home, actually Big mountains, and trees, and Yeah, it's quite Quite beautiful here, actually I would recommend it If you're into mountains But, um Yeah, um I think maybe my highlight for the day Well, I enjoyed messing around in the sand, for sure Yeah I just want to ride off road as much as I can But here it's a little tricky I did see a few roads up in there Cause there's a lot of logging stuff But often they're dead end And they all have gates on them But, um, I might Go for a little explore later Um But I was going to say, yeah Maybe my favourite thing was the ferry, actually Uh That was just a really charming Little ferry that Has a quirky little feature And Actually my favourite thing is maybe Those dogs that They seem to go back and forth on the ferry all day Uh Um, which is Yeah Really cute, actually, so But, um Anyways, uh I'm going to end the video now Uh, I'm fairly tired And, uh, yeah, so, um If you liked the video, I'd love for you to subscribe And if, and if you want to watch another video Or the next video Depending on how early you are Uh, there'll be something on the screen That will Recommend a video to you Or the next video Anyways Uh But as always, uh, thanks for watching And, uh, I'll see you next time
