Hey guys, so after two hours, two and a half hours of transportation from Chengdu,
we are at Leshan. Leshan is a small city but it's a tourist city in Sichuan. It's a very
very green town. Let me show you around. The sky is so blue here. Yeah and it's a nice sunny day,
so green. Everything is so green and it's well known for its giant buddha statue. It's the
biggest, the largest, tallest dome buddha statue in the world. So hopefully you guys
enjoy this journey with us. So guys, this place, the Leshan Dafo, the giant buddha statue,
is a world heritage. So it's pretty significant and this is the Chinese characters for Leshan
Dafo. And it's a 5A national tourism attraction. So I guess a lot of people kind of asking me what
is 5A means, right? There's five different levels in the national tourist attraction ratings. So
there's 1A, AA, AAA, 4A and 5A. 5A is the highest. So far there's about 50 tourist attractions
across China has has been rated 5A. In order to get 5A, you need to pass a lot of rules and
everything. You need to be very tourist friendly. You have to be able to do multi-language. So
there's a lot of restrictions for that. And we visited a couple ones that are 4A. In Chengdu,
there's a narrow white alley. It's actually a 3A. It's rated differently. It's a national
tourism attraction. The character at the top, what is that? That means buddha. Buddhism? Yeah,
that word is buddhism. Here guys, there's the little description of the giant buddha statue.
It said it's a world heritage site. The giant buddha statue was finished in the Tang dynasty
under construction for 90 years. At the time, it was one of the biggest projects.
The statue is 71 meters high and the width of the head is 10 meters.
And there's 1021
braids on the statue. On the head. 1021 braids. And the ear is 7 meters long.
Oh my gosh. The nose is 5.6 meters long. Eyebrow is 5.6 meters
wide. And the eye is 3.3 meters in width. And the shoulder is 28 meters wide apart.
And the fingernails is 8.3 meters long. So each fingernail is 8.3 meters long. That's huge. And
the feet is 8.5 meters wide. And it can hold about 100 people on the feet. Each foot? Each foot,
yeah. Wow. So that's pretty much the whole description of this giant buddha. See the
mountain range. It's like the resting of the buddha. Wow, that's interesting. Yeah,
and that's the buddha statue. So when was the buddha statue built? When was the Tang dynasty
like when was that buddha built? About 1200 years ago. Long time ago basically.
Hey guys, so we're at this giant buddha. And right now it's a little area, a little lookout
area. The view is so beautiful. I wish, I don't know if you can see it very well on camera but
there's a rush over there. And I can see why it's like so gorgeous because it's,
it just air feels, air just smells amazing. And also it's very,
it's kind of humid. It's very, feel very good.
Kind of like a tropical, like a rainforest, rainforest tropical view.
Show you guys the view.
I like it.
Onions, the cheese and cilantro. It's like a little pita bread. I'll have a bite.
I got this ice cream and look at the one Danny picked. Let's see. It's my childhood memory.
Hey guys, so we just finished the giant buddha. So we hiked down the mountain. It's called Mount
Ma. I think that's how you pronounce it. So as I was uploading pictures and my story onto Instagram,
I did some research on the location and I probably should have researched before we came but
so this mountain is quite remarkable. It's actually the location where buddhism first
entered into China. So this is where it was, where it began in China.
And the first buddhist temple in China was also built at the top of Mount Ma. Since then,
30 more temples have been added to that, to the site. And the most remarkable structure
on the mountain obviously is the giant buddha. So yeah, this is, it's just quite a significant
place that we came and I feel quite blessed to be here. It's always on my bucket list and
the reason why I visit because it's, I can only imagine its beauty through textbooks when I was
young. And then when I was young and I didn't get to travel at all. I was just learning, studying
very hard and there's a lot of writers, a lot of poets. They wrote a lot of essays about this place
and then I mean it's quite magnificent statue. I mean it's, if you had a chance to go to China,
this might be a stop that you must go visit and especially if you're a buddhist. This is a,
it's so, it's so calming. It's so, I mean the lineup is not that calming.
A famous Leshan eating street. Is it famous? It's pretty famous apparently. I know about this
actually. We just stumbled across this on our way back to the station so we decided to ride our
bikes to the station because it's like pretty flat and it's such a good exercise and so much
to see. So I'm glad we did that or else we would never have found this place.
Watch out, watch out. What is it? It's like a, it's like a dessert.
And this is the people, that's the lifestyle. This lady, she doesn't even, she works here.
She's not even in, she's not even selling. She's over there like eating food and then
as soon as like, as soon as like she sees people, she just comes back and sells.
