In the western part of Toluca, Casa Camino Viejo by Ikanimej Arquitectos challenges the conventional housing model dominating the local market.

Located within a private condominium of twelve homes, the project balances commercial viability with architectural excellence. Inspired by the philosophy of Alberto Campo Baeza—who emphasized light as architecture’s most luxurious material—the house is conceived as a luminous spatial sequence.

Interconnected double-height spaces allow natural light to cascade through the interior, acting as the central design element. Rather than relying on material opulence, the project prioritizes spatial quality, proportion, and clarity. The result is a serene, light-filled environment that enhances daily living while demonstrating that profitability and architectural integrity can coexist.
