Waters/Bright vs Nelson/Humberg at the Zimmer Biomet Cape Coral Open
17 Video Views·Feb 19, 2026
where we've already hit the top and they're maybe on the back nine of their career.
Emma Nelson gets to get us started. Let's play pickleball.
Side out. 0-0-1.
Second serve.
Good as that would probably feel. Just hammer it back in.
0-0-2.
Side out. Clown on clown crime there's the New Jersey Fives
0-0-1.
0-2. Side out.
0-0-1.
Second serve.
0-0-2.
1-0-2.
Big smile on the face of Emma Nelson over there hanging in there in the firefights.
0-1-1.
Second serve.
Yes.
0-1-2.
We've played a lot of rallies here it's just one on the board.
1-0-1.
Annalie had a great interview.
After this point.
I try to invent the future.
I look at every player what they do best and I try to learn it.
She's become the most complete player out there.
Shriek as Mari says.
3-0-2.
Side out.
0-3-1.
Second serve.
Correct.
0-3-2.
You pointed out something on the Emma Nelson backhand.
What did you find interesting about it?
3-0-1.
3-0-2.
She's really good at it.
Exactly what she wanted.
Mari had the face after the Gabe shot earlier there.
Just couldn't believe after that perfect set up.
4-0-2.
No go zone.
Cross court through the middle.
Within a bright top seed in women's doubles.
But you need reps.
Obviously this is not her first tournament since she signed, but you just need reps.
And having the opportunity to play against this team right here.
Number one team in the world.
It's just such a great experience to be able to see what they do.
See how you can apply it to your game.
Things that you need to work on.
0-6-1.
Point.
That's just a big sigh of relief right there.
1-6-1.
2nd serve.
1-6-2.
Get that base.
2-6-2.
Side out.
2nd serve.
6-2-2.
AL Dub hit one that was going to hit the back video board.
Without question.
Great thing by Mari opening the court, but hitting that deep.
So in that way the ATP wasn't there.
And AL just went ahead and Emma just...
That's what happens when you're first time playing against the number one team.
First look at the lob serve today in the wind.
Full Gansu carve there, but
caught the tape and so much spin through it wide.
2-7-2.
Side out.
7-2-1.
2nd serve.
7-2-2.
8-2-2.
Side out.
2-8-1.
Uh-oh. One more unit.
That applies to every match.
If you're able to just make them hit one more at some point they're going to overheat
and make a mistake.
3-8-2.
Unique backhand of Nelson's on the third where you see the paddle face
facing the sky. That's not where it ends up.
8-3-1.
He's a little low to the net. Two in a row.
8-3-2.
Point.
Timeout receiver 9-3-2. Pre-challenge timeout. 45 seconds.
Time in. 9-3-2.
Right from the mind of Yudit Castillo. Let's see if it works.
He's got a couple of shots from Amari right there.
That was pretty.
3-9-1.
What a shot from Annalie Waters. That was a great job of getting the ball to bounce.
3-9-2. Side out.
9-3-1.
That hit the tape but that's the muddy play.
Once it gets into that position you know it's coming
but you don't know where. 9-3-2.
Point.
Full protractor mode there.
Angles galore. Game point.
10-3-2.
And look at that. ATP to walk it off clean.
Nothing to lose here.
Generous on the sideline and there's Mama Waters up close and personal
with the Franklin hat as Annalie made the big change
to the Swoosh and the Franklin in one week
and won the triple crown with all the new gear
and the master is not easy to do when you have all those
extra eyeballs and there's people and sales people
that are expecting you to pay that off and did she ever.
Going back to Annalie, I don't think people
at home or you know just rec players
realize how difficult it is what she does.
Playing all three events, winning, what number is that?
40 triple crowns? It's unbelievable what she's done
in her career and what she has left.
Yeah, it's Olympic season right now and you see the best in the world, Michaela Schifrin the other day.
Didn't have a great day at the office. 1-0-1.
It happened. She's won a ton. This lady doesn't have bad days at the office. It's incredible.
1-0-2. That's really nice
from Emma Nelson back to back.
She says get out of here to her teammate.
0-1-1.
0-1-2.
I'm talking about developing shots and how every player has to
develop any shot to be able to keep with everybody,
keep up with everybody. Anna Bright has developed that
flick. Football! Left foot.
Continue even though that was entertaining with Mari's look at both of them screaming at her.
Yes, I mean Anna Bright has developed that flick so now
she's not only just aggressive with the two-way but also with that flick and able
to pick spots that adds a completely different level to her game
already. And a foot earlier coming back
at you out in front too.
Side out. 0-2-1. Point.
I like Mari coming over and taking as many thirds as she can to help the youngster
out. 1-2-1.
Another example. Second third.
Fortunate. Yes, if Mari would have taken one more step
that wall was going to be destroyed.
Side out. Anna Bright is fortunate that she did not take that step
because it would have been wrecked at her.
2-1-1. Oh my goodness. Yeah, go ahead and try
a third shot, Lob. Not on my watch. That is a gorgeous overhead.
2-1-2. Point. Wow, backed off the forehand
and almost missed it there did Anna Lee.
3-1-2.
Enjoying the interaction between Emma and Mari. Look at that. That smile is
so great. 1-3-1.
Point. I mean, that is filthy how much
spin is on that. I have been on the other side of Mari Haber's
things and you try to avoid that backhand at all costs.
Second serve. That was not a nasty
Nelson attempt but tries
to go for a T ace on Anna Bright.
Nice overhead to turn the favor by Anna Lee Waters.
I like that Emma is settling in a little more.
3-2-1. Point.
People have different ways of dealing with nerves. One of them
can be moving their feet. All of them might be getting serious about it
but I think here this combination with Mari making Emma laugh
has relaxed her to be able to play
at a better level of pickable.
Second serve.
Mari off the tape.
She's had three or four of those.
Point. Great draw by Anna Lee.
Event out in Mesa on Tuesday so
you're going to have pickle for a ton of days in a row. Every day but Monday
starting today. And there's the other side of
where to return the ball. Regardless if it's
Anna Bright or Anna Lee Waters, your court cannot
by any means float. Otherwise they're going to crash
and point over. Even at 11-3-6-2
just disgusted with herself. Probably some special words being
said on the march back to the video board there.
And comes back in a clean middle winner.
Thanks for coming out. I'm in perfect shot. Perfect
placement. Down to the middle. Emma still coming in.
Mari wasn't expecting that.
As the Emma Nelson deck travels a little too far.
6-2-1.
Point.
Another good stack here.
7-2-1.
Hammered.
Forehand from Anna Lee. Three points from tomorrow.
8-2-1.
The
Mari net court extravaganza continues.
Having a fun chat with the crowd in the front row here.
Through the middle again and we are lacking a center fielder.
What a shot. Three times since she
had special words A-B to A-B.
Beats Anna Lee to the ball.
And use everything that you
have.
And one more through the middle
and thanks for coming. 3-2.
Anna Lee waters and Anna Bright all smiles. I really like
what I saw from Emma Nelson as she builds her
way there. A lot of work to do still but as you mentioned you
got to see.
