Watch the women's highlights between China and Italy from week 2 of the Volleyball Nations League 2025 in Hong Kong (Hong Kong, China)!
It is the People's Republic of China in blue serving. It's Italy
in white receiving. It's the last match of week two of the Women's Volleyball Nations League here in
Hong Kong, China. And finding ways to score without just using that heightened athleticism,
a lot more craft in the game. Could touch that by Nadine from Guangxiang Yu.
Moki had that red all the way.
The fans slightly put off by the block in front of her waving their hands like they just don't care.
I think the speed of the arm might have just changed the direction of that ball.
The nearest of touches.
With the serve. Going after the frontcourt. Hits it for China.
Slow to react. Italy and China make their side out. Dong Yuhan with the point.
In between 4-5 defense.
Kambi needs to choose her spot a little bit closer.
From Naveen. He wanted to go quickly. There's a bit too high for that. The time she went in that
now she's got height and time. Free ball coming. Two front row attackers. Pipe and 10 available
in the back row and far. Only a continuation. Another chance. Kambi decides to go wide.
And now it's an opportunity for China. Well done Moki.
What a rally. It's ebbing and flowing. Degradi makes a good dig. Yes. Igonu. Wonderful.
She's unlucky not to make the dig. Gone a great swing though on that pipe from Dong Yuhan.
Feel like they have more time than they do.
That block is something to try and get past with Igonu and far at the net. China will try again.
Well watched by Naveeni.
Just about. In the block on that right side. No good for China to go the other way and this time
it works. Gong Xiangyu with the point. When these long rallies are occurring the hardest part for
the blockers sometimes is to make it. Oh dear. Oh good touch. Oh that's well played by Igonu.
Trying to take Gong Xiangyu out of the play and they're trying to run some fancy combos
in the middle. China didn't work. Now Igonu for the set. Yes she's done it and Italy take the
opener 25-21. That was a solid performance from Italy. China not doing much wrong in that set.
For China Tong Xin starts number three. We get set two underway.
Just that's two attacks for her. None for far at the moment.
Shot right onto the baseline. Wonderful speed in transition. Excellent.
Perhaps not as quick as or quicker than De Guardi thought. Better chance now maybe.
Rapid back and forth. Touch and a good save. Although Maki can't have a swing. So it's free ball
for China. Oh monster block. Igonu takes away the cross court. One on one. Igonu has been doing her
work very well and continues to do so.
The block. Chen Haoyu with the serve. Chance here for China.
Wong Yuanyuan serve. Trying to put some pressure here on Italy.
A 19-18. For Italy it's the change in shot. Not bad serve there. Noveni. Italy's block getting
caught out. This needs to be sided out. Oh and it is. It is. Far to the rescue. Far. Good pass.
But that is a lovely touch by De Guardi. And she's got the blocker. That is an incredible
turnaround for Italy. Away we go. Set number three. Italy leading by two sets to nothing.
Nice up by the FIFA fan. Free ball now though for Italy in three. Tough one.
Mwakalo does well. So it can be actually not to be reaching over and then De Guardi
has been really solid. Mwakalo will be the server. Oh it's good serve. That was one to
have a swing on for Igonu. She doesn't really travel into the ball on a jump serve. It's more
of an up and down. A bit of hang time from Noveni. Can't get the swing though to cause problems.
Igonu out of the offensive end. A bit of frustration from Igonu out of your picture then.
Well dug by a FIFA fan. That's what kept in play by De Guardi. Didn't have a swing chance but
China did. And that's a lovely hit from Dong Lan. Italy asked to have another go.
The magical block from China. They'll be playing with what the Chinese block and defense gives her.
Ba says oh no you are not getting past me. It's 19-10 now for Italy.
That'll do it. It's all over. Italy take it 25-11. They've beaten China by three sets to nothing.
What a week for Italy. They remain undefeated in the Volleyball Nations League.
