Hi! Welcome to Dixie's Storytime World. Let's meet Roscoe. He's a very rude and bossy rooster.
Do you think he'll ever learn how to treat others kindly? Well, let's find out together
in this awesome book by Becky Thomas. To get your copy, please check the links in the description
at the bottom of this video. There was a rooster named Roscoe who loved telling his friends what
to do. One day while he was out playing in the yard, he turned to Chiquita and fluffed up his
feathers. He said, play with me and do not play with Barbie. She is the new chicken and her
feathers are not as pretty as mine. Chiquita turned to him and said, Roscoe, that is not kind.
You should treat others how you want to be treated. To be friendly, say nice things about others and
make them feel welcome. She turned and walked away to go play with Barbie. Roscoe was surprised that
Chiquita did not listen to him, so he went over to Nigel. He said, play with me and do not play
with Odie. He cannot kick the ball as far as I can. Nigel answered, Roscoe, that is not kind.
You should treat others how you want to be treated. Instead, ask Odie to play with us. Maybe you could
teach him some new soccer tricks. Then Nigel walked away to play with Odie and the other chickens.
While Roscoe was sitting all alone, Nugget walked by. He said to her, play with me and do not play
with Jasmine. She sings all the time and is too loud. Nugget replied, Roscoe, that is not kind.
You should treat others how you want to be treated. Maybe you could sing with Jasmine
and learn a new song. Then Nugget walked away to play with the others.
Roscoe realized that he was all alone. He had no one to play with because he was being bossy.
Roscoe thought about when he was a new chicken in the yard. Everyone was kind to him. They included
him in all of their games. He looked over and saw all of the chickens having a good time together.
He felt sad he was not kind to the others. So Roscoe walked over to apologize. Roscoe said,
I am sorry for being bossy by telling you what to do. May I play with you? They all said,
oh Roscoe, we forgive you. Of course you can play with us. Roscoe looked to his friends and said,
thank you for showing me how I can treat others the way I want to be treated.
The end. So the important lesson that we learnt in this story is to treat others as you want to
be treated. And this is a picture of the real Roscoe. Kids don't forget to hit the subscribe
button on your way out. I'll see you soon in another adventure. Bye from Roscoe and all the chickens.
