The Story of the Empty Pot

In ancient China, an Emperor announced a contest to choose his successor. He gave a seed to every child in the kingdom, declaring that whoever grew the most beautiful flower in a year would inherit the throne.
A young boy named Chen planted his seed and tended it daily with great care, but nothing grew. When the day of the contest arrived, other children brought lush, vibrant flowers of every color. Chen, ashamed but honest, brought his empty pot.
The Emperor smiled and revealed the truth: he had boiled all the seeds before giving them out, making it impossible for them to grow. The other children had swapped their seeds for new ones to appear successful. Chen was the only one with the integrity to show the truth, and he was named the next Emperor.
