First night alone in my van

It is so dirty in here. So if you guys watched my last video,
you saw that we took a family trip in the van.
We didn't sleep in the van because it's far too small for two adults and a child.
I built this van with the intent of it just being Amber and I
and for the most part and so you know we did get a hotel room
so we didn't like sleep in the van but we spent a decent amount of time in it
and it got super dirty but that trip was definitely
eye-opening for me in a lot of ways. I am looking forward to taking the van
out solo and being able to have some time to myself.
After having Amber full-time solo for all of the month of July in Texas,
I did have help with her a little bit here and there with my from my family
which I'm super grateful for but I'm looking forward to just having
some me time. I feel like it's much needed.
It has been for a while and now that the van is you know done
and I can finally take it out and actually get to enjoy it, I'm really
looking forward to it. But before I get to do that I need to
do some serious cleaning so let's get to it. So this is gonna be
my first night in the van officially and I am out here camping with Mindy
and it's my first night well technically my first night camping in tank
sleeping up in the tent. I slept on the cot last night which worked out good
but now I get to sleep in the rooftop tent.
So it's like a solo recon mission of our campers.
So I'm super excited and this is also the first night I've been away from
Amber in quite a while I feel like. So Isaac is with Amber at home and mom is
having a mom solo camping trip. Solo without Amber but I'm not solo solo.
And then I'll show you guys our spot. It's absolutely beautiful and we're
right by the water but we're gonna get settled in and then I will show you
around. So we're getting set up. I'm filming. So Mindy's got this beautiful
little setup here with some flowers. She's working on getting the rest of her
stuff set up. I am having lunch. I have three hard-boiled eggs, some cherry
tomatoes, and my favorite almonds. Of course I got my water. So I'm gonna
have lunch and then we'll probably be set up soon and then I'll show you
around and we'll go take a look at the water that we're by. It's really really
low right now. The last time I drove through this campsite it was not that
low so we're hoping to be able to paddleboard at some point but I don't
know. It's kind of low. We just stumbled upon someone's fort over there. We're
gonna go check it out. So the water's super low. Someone's got a seadew out
there but it's usually way up here. So we're gonna go scope this out. So I went
to sit down on this little log here and I hit this pointy piece and it popped a
hole right down the seam of the back of my pants. R.I.P. pants. This place is so
cool. Someone definitely put a lot of time into this. I'm very curious who and I
wonder how long it's been here. Like if they did this recently or if this has
been around and just been underwater. I feel like it would have shifted if it
was underwater. Mindy brought me some chili pistachios. I'm so excited. Are they
lime? Chili lime. Oh and they're spicy. I'm excited. Oh yeah and she made pickled
pickles and onions. Homemade refrigerator pickles and onions. I've been very domesticated in my new
tiny house. You'll have to come and follow me up there. And I am trying to figure out
how to get my projector to work so that we can watch a movie or something later but right now
Mindy's working on a little charcuterie board. She made margaritas and I'm looking forward to
the sun going down. It's getting a little hot. I had to put on my PJ pants because I didn't bring
any other shorts. Yeah I mean they're not actual pajamas shorts but I wear them as pajama shorts.
But yeah we're having a great time. The water's beautiful and we walked around a bit. We'll
probably go for a walk later when the sun starts to go down. So I'm gonna eat some of these
pistachios and try to figure out my projector. A free subscription for him but I don't know if
that's up or not. Oh god that you got you've had it for you've had it since busland right? Wow that looks
Look at that cheese. I hope you like goat cheese. I love goat cheese.
Dry roasted peanuts. I'm excited. Regular blue cheese. Just regular yeah yeah. Oh my god it's
crackers. Excuse me with uh with that one. It's a blue jay. No he's looking he's he's eyeing us up
After the first bite it all tasted. Okay now I gotta get some wrap. How is the pickles? So good.
Yeah you like that? Yeah everything is so good. So I put six jars like that together the other morning.
So this is my mosquito camping hack. This is a thermosell. I got it at Walmart. This does 15
feet by 15 feet and it comes with these little refills of oil and it just goes right in there.
There's no batteries no power needed. So now it's turned off in this little blue uh the mosquito
repellent mat. You just stick it in here and it'll start like that when blue and end like this when
it's out and then you just click it on it'll release the oil and then you you'll hear it
light. I just heard it but I always click it three times just to be sure and I can smell it
and then that'll keep the mosquitoes away. I just got bit by one because I was too far but this works
amazing and you don't have to use mosquito repellent because it's nasty and gross on your
skin. Subscribe for more camping hacks. I think this is the same problem Samantha had is like you
have to push it up against something. No she just has one like it. Super lame. Well I have never used
this camping stove in here before and it's not working. It's supposed to adjust you're supposed
to put the butane in the back right here and then you line it up and it's supposed to click in there
but it it's not clicking and it's not staying. So I'm glad that Mindy's here or else I wouldn't
have anything to eat tonight because I can't cook my chicken. Mindy to the rescue. I have so many
camp stoves. Try this one. This will be interesting.
Thank you. Can I put this on here? Yeah. It's gonna melt. No. Beans smell good. Interesting.
Winging it. Those are my favorite kind of recipes. It's weird that a food company would sell a packet
of rice with like no instructions basically. Like I wonder how many people were like how am I supposed
to cook this? Oh yeah. Oh it's a sausage. So we had to move around a little bit because Mindy's not
allowed to park on the dead grass. Like I always do. So we moved around a little bit and it's not as
it's still fine. You know what if you when you come back tomorrow and make it like a chevron
then this could be closed in like that. Yeah but my door opens on this side.
That's what I mean. So if you back. Oh back in at an angle. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I got the rug out here.
And then this you know we can have it so the vehicles if they're like this. At an angle. Yeah.
But that's what we're looking like tonight. It is so gorgeous. Look at that. Look at that sun setting
So it is 7 45 and we are calling it a night and Mindy and I are both
just tired and ready for bed. I'm looking forward to hopefully a good night's sleep
but we'll see. So I'm gonna wind down. I gotta put dishes away. I'm using a I don't have a towel
like a dish towel so I'm using a pillowcase. A clean one that I had.
Yeah so you know first night you're gonna forget some things. So I'm gonna go ahead and get
ready for bed and then we will get cozy and go to sleep. It's cold out here. I did. I had to
turn my fans on because it got too hot. Yeah. I got a little cold. It was uh not
it wasn't cold for a while. It was like at 3 a.m. I turned the heater on.
