It's Manchester City's time!
Manchester City's season
2023
is the City treble year
Champions of England
FA Cup winners
and now, at last
Champions of Europe
all in the space
of three wonderful weeks
they made their three wishes
and they've all come true
but this is the best of City's three
this is the one they wanted
the one they longed for
to complete the set
this is their blue ribbon event
they have ruled English football
for the last six years and more
but now
Manchester City are Kings of Europe
now they have their triple crown
the engraver has a new name
to inscribe on the giant European Cup
the first new name since Chelsea
eleven years ago
the third English name in the last five years
Manchester City
have been on football's rich list for some time now
but top of the bucket list of any club
is the Champions League
and the huge silver trophy that comes with it
and tonight
Manchester City become the 23rd winners of the big one
the 23rd club
to reach the summit
of European football
dreams don't really come true
not really
but Manchester City fans
could not have dreamt of anything much better than this
they had a new rival on the home front
Arsenal's name sat on top of the English Premier League
for much of the season
but City beat them in February
they beat them again in April
took over at the top
stayed the course
won their third straight English title
with three games to spare
three weeks ago
then beat their eternal local rivals
United at Wembley last weekend
to win the FA Cup
and now into Milan in Istanbul
to complete their holy trinity of titles
