Couples and friends celebrate a weekend of love in Philadelphia

Valentine's weekend kicked off across Philadelphia on Friday night with couples and friends filling restaurants as they celebrated love - and friendship - ahead of the holiday.

In Fishtown, groups gathered at Evil Genius Beer Company for a Galentine's Party. "We love the tradition. We try to do it every year," said Jessica Rivera of Northeast Philadelphia.

Rivera said the night was about more than just fun. "I think friendships are really important. Also, just the community bringing everyone together."

Gary Howell, assistant general manager at Evil Genius, said the event offered a welcoming space for anyone looking to connect.

"Whether you're happy or sad, it's always great to come out, meet with the community, meet new people, meet new friends and that's what we do here," he said. Guests also had the chance to make bracelets while enjoying drinks.
