Hi guys, it's Lizzie from Soapbox Snaps and I'm here today to finally show you a styling tutorial
of how to do Colton's hair. People have been asking me on Instagram for the longest time
to show them how I style his hair. So I'm here today to do that for you. I've got some products.
Colton's here with me. You ready buddy? So one thing I definitely recommend is a phone.
When I do his hair, he never sits still. He runs away, he's off before you know it. So
I get him a phone, make sure he's watching a show he likes and then I go from there.
First thing I'm going to do is I'm going to describe his haircut to you because if you want
to achieve this look, the hair is going to need to be cut like this. Actually I happen to cut the
hair myself quite a bit. I know absolutely nothing about cutting hair, have no hair cutting experience
but I found that I was looking for a particular look and I couldn't always get an appointment
with the barber I liked. I couldn't always find the time to bring him in so I actually
taught myself how to do it off of just watching YouTube videos, just taking my time, going slow
and trying a few different things and I found a cut that I like and I do this for him all the time.
Okay so you can see that his hair is clean and dry right now and I'm going to show you exactly
what I've done. Right here, this side is a two. So everything from down here to up here is a two.
Around his ears and his neck have been edged and cleaned up here and the buzzer was taken
right to the parietal ridge. This is really important because if you go beyond this point
it's going to start to look like a mohawk and that's okay if that's the look you're going for
but in this cut it's taken here and then here I use spinning shears to hide this fade line
so it's not a drastic drop and it's not a buzzer all the way up. You've got to remember to stop
here and then use the thinning shears to sort of blend this all in. Now on the top you can see it's
left long and texturized so everything from here is short and this is long and it's not
really an undercut where it just comes up here and it's abrupt and this is super long.
I try to make it so his hair can be both down and off to the side and look nice but also when I
spike it up it has that look. What do you think buddy? You ready to style your hair now? Let's do
your hair. All right so like I said today it is clean and dry. When it's clean like this it never
looks over greasy. The product works really well and it'll stay a while. All right guys so I'm using
the Blue Man Fist Sample Styling Mask Pomade. I like this because it's got a high hold and low
shine. I always use matte products for my boys. I've always liked it because I don't like it to
be super shiny because sometimes when it gets super shiny it just looks really greasy. Okay so
I just grab some product from the jar put it on my fingertips like this and then run it all the
way through my hands so I have it like completely on my hands. All right bud you ready to go?
Let's see now I just take it once it's gotten all over my hands and I start to just sort of
piece it through like this and spike it up. Now if he's distracted and watching a film like this
he'll sit for me and he doesn't mind. I do it slow so it doesn't like tug or pull on his hair
and I just kind of take it and piece it up. I just like I said I just piece everything up here.
I kind of make sure that any of these pieces on this side are going up like that and as you can
see he's got a really cute highlight here so when you spike the hair up you see the highlights in
the front and then you just find any collars that are sticking up and make sure to give them a
little bit of product to make sure that it goes down. Kind of get all these pieces sometimes those
pieces in the front don't want to stay. You got to do it a few times. All right so we've got all
these pieces up. I think it looks pretty cute. Anything that sort of falls down you can sort of
fix like this and you can put it right up again and the most important step at the end I would
say especially since he's a baby and be running around and playing a bunch is hairspray. How long
you need it to stay will determine how much hairspray you use. More hairspray means crispier
hair. This matte look the more hairspray you put in it will get crispier but him being a kid he's
running around and if you want to stay for a while I definitely recommend adding some. If you don't
add some and his hair gets messed up it's gonna be super simple because if he messes it up you
could just you go literally just go like this and you just just sort of run your fingers in it
and just pick it back up. Any piece that falls out of place it takes like two seconds just to sort of
give it like a little bit of juice and put it back in its spot. All right let me show you the
hairspray that I spray in my hands. All right and then I kind of just rub it through my hands
and I'll spike it up and I'll just put it from my hands into his hair that way I don't spray it in
his eyes where he's bringing it in. If I need more I do it again like that and then I put it on my
hands like this and then I rub it through. Not all my boys have the same hair. Austin has really thick
hair. Parker has finer hair and Colton's hair is somewhere in the middle so they tend to need
different products or need different amounts of products and I've just played around with a few
things. I'm done doing his hair and like I said I've added a little hairspray and I kind of mess
with it for a little bit to make sure it looks piecey in the front and I fix anything that's like
anything that's fallen down to sort of give it a fix right and he is done. He's ready to go. This
is Colty. This is Colton from Sopo Snaps and he's kind of known for his hair because it's super cool
and he's a super cool dude. You want to say hi to camera buddy? Okay so that is the end of my
styling tutorial of Colton and I want you to comment below any more questions you have. Any
