These two movies, Jojo Rabbit and Marriage Story, cover so many big themes.
I want to concentrate on some of the lighter ones. I think that if you go through trauma
and you loved, it helps to carry you. And I was wondering what traits that your parents
maybe passed on to you while you were growing up, because you, like Jojo Rabbit, had to grow up
fast, that you have incorporated and maybe want to pass on to your family someday.
I was very, very close with my siblings growing up. And, you know, no matter what, I also came
from a home that my parents were divorced when I was 13. And, you know, we moved around a lot. And,
you know, we grew up, you know, money was often scarce. We grew up on welfare. We had a lot of
things that were going on when I was a kid that were complicated and hard to understand. But my
siblings were really, really close with me and helped. We kind of buoyed each other, you know,
through this, these kind of uncertain waters. And, you know, one thing that my mom always
encouraged for all of us was to be really kind to one another. You know, we say to us, like,
that's your sister, you know, and that's your brother. Like, you have to be nice to your,
be nice to your siblings and, you know, to be mindful of them and respectful of them. And,
you know, I think that is something that even though I have an only child, I encourage my
daughter always to be, you know, to be respectful of her peers and of her friends and, you know,
to act out of love and, you know, to consider other people. I think it's really, really an
important thing. I agree. It's a wonderful trait. The other two aspects of both movies kind of tie
into your role of Bizarrely as Black Widow, because you play a heroine there, a superhero.
You play a heroine in Jojo Rabbit. And in Marriage Story, you are a hero for women,
taking on roles and strength that many women are fighting for. Could you draw an analogy
between those characters, or maybe just what appeals to you about the strong hero woman?
I mean, the characters of Nicole and Rosie and Natasha are all, they're different. Obviously,
they have a different kind of past. But I think they are, you know, all women that are kind of
many parts, and at a certain point, have to kind of take a stand and fight for what they know they
need. And, you know, even if it kind of goes against what is popular, or, you know, even if
it's going to be challenging, or it's going to be dangerous in some way, and they don't know what
the outcome is going to be, they all take a risk to better their lives and the lives of the people
that they love. And, you know, I think that's what makes them all heroic in a way, as you kind of
pointed out. It's a lovely thing for everyone to aspire towards. Thank you so much. Thank you.
