How to paint Carnations in Chinese Watercolor

Hi everyone, I'm Kate Wu. Welcome to my channel. In this video, I'm going to show you how to paint these carnations using Chinese watercolor. Let's get started. I'll be using only one brush, ink and some Chinese color. Let's just start with the carnation. I've only used red and prepare your brush like this. We'll start from the edge of the ruffled petals and leave the center white. Carnations are well-loved flowers. They are widely cultivated and come in almost every color in the rainbow. Each color has a different meaning. White carnation symbolizes purity and luck. Red carnation symbolizes admiration, love, affection. Pink carnation symbolizes gratitude. On Mother's Day, pink and red are probably more popular. Of course, it also depends on your mom's color preference. I bet she loves anything you give her as an appreciation for her love and care. I am painting a few carnations in different angles and a few flower buds. The strokes are the same. Press and turn your brush like I showed you before to create a fan-like brush. Dip the red color into the pink. You may use any color to create your own painting. It doesn't really matter. Now I'm using just ink to paint a glass vase. For the stems and leaves, mix yellow and blue color. Simple. And then add a little bit of red at the tip of the brush. Now I will paint the stems. Be mindful when painting where the stems go because they all have to fit in the pot or vase. It's up to you how you want to paint the vase. It can be a solid pot in different forms, a basket, or a glass vase in this painting. I'm painting some filler flowers to make this pot of carnations more interesting. Baby's breath is white so it is hard to present in Chinese painting. So I'm using light green to paint something light and give it an airy feel. You can be more creative in painting, I think. To make this painting more interesting, I am adding a butterfly.
