In May of 2011, Jennifer sat down with "Extra" special correspondent Steve Santagati as she promoted her then upcoming movie, "X-Men: First Class," in which she played Mystique. The two chatted about the body image pressures faced by young women in Hollywood, the pros and cons of being an actress, and what they plan on shooting with their newly bought slingshots.

I bought a slingshot at Walmart the other day.
Seriously?
It's so weird.
I swear to God.
Are you serious?
I swear.
It's yellow.
What color is yours?
Yellow.
That's the rubber band you have to buy.
They're like $5.
What are you shooting with your slingshot?
That's the question.
Grapes.
Oh.
I was shooting.
I'm trying to keep the gopher.
I have tomato plants.
So I'm not going to hurt him.
You're shooting a gopher with a slingshot.
Yeah, but I use clay.
And you're in the judgmental place to grill me.
I hunt.
I'd like to begin now.
I hunt and I fish and I do all that stuff.
I love fishing.
Do you?
I do.
You never fly fish, did you?
I was going to try fly fishing next weekend because I've never done it before.
So anyways, welcome to Masterpiece Theater.
And I'm not nice.
As you've noticed.
We've talked before on camera.
You're very pretty.
You're in great shape.
You're not like that Hollywood skinny thing.
Oh, thank you.
Girls look like sickly.
Thanks.
I remember reading a quote or hearing that you had a Philly steak sandwich before the
Oscars instead of the required salad.
Yeah, and it was actually my hair.
Mark Townsend, I was looking at the menu and he said, I was like, I could get a salad.
And he said, well, if you can't get a salad, get a salad.
And I said, I'm getting a Philly cheesesteak.
And are you going to be able to keep that real?
The more famous you get, the more the cameras are on you?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm not like, I don't, I'm not a crazy binge eater.
I just, I think I want a Philly cheesesteak.
Eat a Philly cheesesteak.
Yeah, hopefully.
Because Hollywood, especially at your age, your young age, a lot of pressure on girls,
a lot of pressure on young women, if you will, to stay skinny.
What can you tell women that see all these images in the magazines about what they should
really be doing at home?
Young girls that look up to you.
I mean, I eat healthy and I exercise and I like my body and I actually don't want to
look emaciated and food is one of my favorite parts of the day.
So I can't imagine ruining it by replacing delicious food with, you know, asparagus spears.
I don't know.
I think that if you're not happy with yourself, then you're just never going to be happy no
matter what magazines you look at.
So you just need to be happy with yourself.
So tell me, because you're so young, a lot of young actresses out there right now, what's
the best part besides the money and you can buy whatever you want and people give you
free clothes?
I was just about to say free clothes.
That's so weird that you said that.
I have a really, really cool job.
I've got friends that are still trying to work their way through college and work at
a bakery and, you know, are struggling to find something that they love and find a way
to make money for it.
And I've found that.
And every job has a downside.
I have to be away from home a lot.
I get lonely a lot.
But you have a boyfriend.
I do have a boyfriend.
Call him.
Skype him.
Yeah, I can Skype.
But I also think I wouldn't be as happy working in a nine to five place and being in the same
place every day.
So there's good and bad to every job.
And mine is just, there's not a lot of constant in your life.
Do people recognize you on the street?
Yes.
And what do they say?
Winter's Bone?
Yeah, people just point at me and go, Winter's Bone?
And I go, yes, please.
Wait until this movie comes out.
It's going to be Mystique.
Mystique.
Raven.
Yeah.
I don't know.
It's kind of, I get stared at a lot.
Or people are really nice, actually.
I haven't had anybody mean come up.
Do you think they recognize you?
Or do they think, wow, this girl's really pretty?
Because you're going to get looks regardless.
No.
You're asking, do you know me?
Or is it just because I'm hot?
Do you know me?
Or do you just think I'm really, really pretty?
No, I don't do that.
I'm pretty sure they recognize me from something.
Now, earlier we were talking about slingshots.
Yes.
Because you said you just got one at Walmart.
Yeah, I just got one at Walmart.
I think the same day you got yours from Kmart.
From Kmart.
I was in New Hampshire.
You were in?
I was in North Carolina.
And you're going to shoot grapes.
Grapes.
Yeah.
And I'm shooting gophers.
I don't mean I'm shooting at grapes.
I mean I'm shooting with grapes.
I get it.
At somebody or something.
Yeah, I'm shooting grapes with bullets.
Right.
I'm shooting.
You're a good shot.
I saw the cover of Entertainment Weekly with you with a bow and arrow on your back.
Yeah.
For Hunger Games.
Yes.
What is Hunger Games going to be like?
Hunger Games, I'm already in pre-production for it and it's fantastic.
It's based on these books that I'm a huge fan of.
It's kind of a sick world in the future where kids are randomly selected from their home districts to fight in a game.
It's publicized to the death.
I think we're good.
Was that miserable?
No.
What was worse?
Like going to the dentist or doing this interview?
What was I getting done at the dentist?
Root canal.
I've never had a root canal.
But I have had an interview with you.
So, root canal.
Was worse?
So this wasn't always better.
You'd rather have a root canal.
No, no, no.
You'd rather be interviewed by me.
I'm tired.
I know, I can tell.
