These puzzles look easy, but they're actually impossible.
Today, I'm challenging Ethan to see how someone who got the best grades in class
versus the worst grades solve the world's trickiest brain twisters, starting with...
Newton's gravity.
The goal of this puzzle is to take out the red plug without touching the cup.
Oh, okay, that actually doesn't sound too bad then.
Your timer starts now.
Oh, uh, okay, well, so I just pull it out then?
You actually thought that would work?
There's no...
Why is it so slippery?
It's baby oiled.
What is this?
Think about the name of the puzzle.
Newton's gravity.
Who is Newton?
He sounds unk.
Buddy, what's your IQ?
Like six, seven...
Okay, okay, okay, okay, whatever.
But we do know gravity.
Gravity is uppy and downy force, which means, um...
Okay, the pressure is good and kind of in the right direction,
but maybe a different kind of pressure?
I mean, I could just blow it up.
Wait.
Blow.
What?
What the...
We got it!
How?
Magic?
You see, there's actually a little gap on the side of our red plug,
and when you push the air in, it creates a force underneath the plug,
and boop, out it comes.
That's some big brain stuff right there.
And it's only our first puzzle.
From here, each one only gets harder.
And the final puzzle is so confusing,
it defeated the world's top puzzle experts for years.
This is the topology ring and string.
Your mission is simple.
Free the ring without removing the string from these two poles.
Okay, it's not gonna work like that, buddy.
I am too big brain for you.
No, no, I can figure it out, bro.
I mean, it doesn't...
Okay, is this even solvable, bro?
Are you pranking me?
It is.
There is a solution to this.
Would you like a clue, perhaps?
Would you like to use your clue?
We each have three clues that we can use at any time.
You can ask a question, get a hint,
or have one part of your puzzle solved.
Please.
I intend to win today without using a single clue.
Like that's gonna happen.
I'm an A-plus student.
Who cares, buddy?
Yes, I am, and I will use those skills to deduce there are three elements here.
The ring, the string, and the poles.
We just need to add another element in, right?
If I can't take it off this pole,
what if I make my finger a pole, right?
That wouldn't do anything.
We just put that in there?
Yeah, well...
But I can lift the string,
because this is not removing.
I'm just putting it back on.
Um, yeah, sure.
Well, now you just have a jumbled mess.
Yeah, I do.
My finger's completely turned in there,
but all I have to do is just untangle the cables, right?
This is like pulling out the TV remote.
You just gotta give it a little tug here and...
Yeah, but it's not like that'll do...
Okay, fine.
You know what?
On the next one, I'm gonna do it even quicker than you did this one.
This is the tube.
And while it looks easy,
it's actually so difficult it comes with its own clue.
I don't need no clues this time round.
Also, set the timer to one minute.
I'm gonna do this in half your time.
You really don't want the clue?
No, just let me...
I'll flip it upside down.
Yes, yes!
Uh, at least I got the ball out.
I guess I win.
No, no, no, no.
I know you, so I actually bought two of everything.
I think I was on the right track though.
I think I just need to like,
shake this around until it falls outside of the tube.
Please, this is actually really impossible, man.
Maybe you'd like a clue?
Fine, I'll use one of my clues.
Which one?
The hint, question, or part of the puzzle solved?
Hint.
Your hint is right over here.
Wasn't this offered to me at the start anyway?
It's a pretty good hint, bro.
You didn't read it?
I'm telling you, you need to read it.
Use our tube map to find a poulet baguette.
Bro, I can't read French.
How am I supposed to know what this is saying?
The first half was in English, bro.
The French says the exact same thing as the English, okay?
How do we know that?
French people, comment down below if you're watching.
This is not a map.
A map is meant to be a big thing that gives me answers.
It's part of it.
Okay, just think a little deeper.
Below the surface.
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Okay, so on the back of this map, right,
there's water, there's rivers.
Water and rivers is deep.
The ocean goes very deep.
The answer is clearly water.
I need water!
No.
Ethan, Ethan, you're pouring water.
You're breaking the second one.
He's breaking the second one.
I'm on the right track, though.
I know it.
I just need to...
Wait, are you sucking up the water?
What are you trying to do?
You're running out of time, Ethan.
Maybe you should just try something else like the clue.
Yes!
I did it.
I solved the puzzle.
I mean, the official solution is all about the clue,
which you actually are supposed to use like a tunnel
to catch the ball and guide it out,
just like the underground train network.
But hey, whatever floats your ball, apparently.
I get it.
All right, Mr. By the rules.
Let's see how you handle YouTube's short,
most difficult puzzle with 69 million views.
That's a lot of views.
This is the nine dot puzzle.
To beat this one,
you have to connect all of the dots using only four straight lines.
But there are five lines here.
Yeah, that's why it's impossible.
YouTube short said so.
So feel free to give up right now.
I probably don't even need the fifth one then
because it's four lines only.
So one, two, three, four.
Boom, every dot.
Yeah, nice work, buddy.
This is why I will win today.
No, it's fine.
We just got to get the middle dot here.
So I'll just put one of the longer ones on the outside
and fill that in the inside.
Boom, I've hit every dot now.
Um, yeah, one plus one equals window, buddy.
Count up the lines.
One, two, three, four, five.
What?
Stop bumping the table, bro.
Can you just stop this and just use your clue, man?
Come on, it's just like geometry, bro.
Wait, can I use diagonal lines?
I mean, yeah, as long as it's a straight line.
That's the only rule.
Straight lines diagonal.
Maybe I can do my square again.
Yeah, that's not working.
It's time for you to use your clue.
Come on, just use your clue up.
You're running out of time.
You need to ask me for help.
Maybe like that.
No, but there's still an extra piece.
Puzzles don't have pieces left over.
Yeah, you just need to sort of think outside the box here.
We're not playing Minecraft.
We don't need cube.
Did you just give me a free hint?
Think outside the box.
This puzzle is genius because it makes you think you have to make a box.
It gives you lines.
It gives you dots.
They look like boxes, but it's all an illusion, okay?
It's not a square.
It's a triangle.
Ready?
And we use these two pieces as one single line across all the dots connected.
Boom.
And I haven't even used a single clue.
You almost ran out of time.
You're only seconds left.
Okay, it doesn't matter.
The next puzzles are even more brutal.
I know you hate losing.
You're going to use a clue soon enough.
These are my balls of wisdom.
So I need to just get this thing open, I guess.
This should be pretty easy.
Let me just...
Can you hear that?
There's something inside.
Okay, you're right.
There's something inside.
Okay, so I just need to open this up then.
So I was right.
I really understand why Mrs. Dees hated you, bro.
It's always violence first in school, wasn't it?
All right.
Okay, enough trash talking.
I'm using a clue.
Just give me a clue.
All right.
We're on the third one and you want another clue.
Just give me a clue.
Which one?
I want you to solve the first piece for me because you're trash talking so much.
I bet you can't do it.
Oh yeah, I reckon I could.
Let's just...
There we go.
It was violence the whole time.
I knew it.
It's about the wisdom we made along the way.
I got it.
Is that the centre?
Is red the centre?
Yeah, but you need to break the centre.
I'm red and the centre's red.
That means I am a wisdom doll.
You still need to get into the centre.
I broke the red ball.
That's three out of three.
I can't believe I could actually lose to you.
Huh?
I present you the Octo Magic Box.
Your goal is to get inside the box as opposed to thinking outside of it.
You should just open the box.
It's just, it's easy.
Yeah, that's right.
Easy W.
I'm the three-time winner.
You could ask me for help anytime.
So I can't open it just by lifting it,
but it does seem to twist so it's not like glued down.
It definitely sounds hollow.
There's something in there though.
Yeah, there's something in there.
Just something a little funny, a little fishy, you might say.
Wait, it looks like to me there's like these tiny little gaps between the...
Wait, oh, oh, oh, that's in there.
Wait, how'd you do that?
Wait, what do you mean, how'd you do that?
I don't know, I've never solved this, I just closed it.
What the dog doing?
What if I wanted a clue or something?
How are you going to give me a clue then, huh?
You don't even ask for clues anyway, it's fine.
You're telling me you don't know how to solve this?
Oh wait, oh, there's a magnet on the bottom of this cross.
Oh, wait, wait, wait, I think I got it.
Ready, and up.
Wait, you might actually be onto it.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
No, the magnet is not strong enough.
And there's like, there's four magnets, but only one of these.
It'd be so crazy if this is like a spinny thing, like this like spins, right?
Oh, that's so cool.
It's like a Beyblade, bro, like a gear or something.
Oh, I think you just overcame my trauma, bro.
You just gave me a clue and you don't even know it.
Are gears?
That might actually work.
Look at this, I didn't even notice.
But look, the little thing had kind of moved.
Do you think if we put that on there and just move it a bit more,
like a gear, like you said.
Oh, dude, dude, it's moving around.
Look at that.
It doesn't help you at all.
The sun's coming up more.
Grab the other, spin that around.
Look at this, each of the hooks have turned.
They're actually gears.
And now it should be easy.
How come I solve your puzzles faster than my puzzles?
Good question.
Better question.
Oh, why did you poo in the box?
And while we've somehow solved every puzzle so far,
the next puzzles look even easier but are actually more impossible.
Meet my dovetail cubes.
Each one has two parts that you need to separate.
Violence!
Maybe just once you actually try applying your brain matter.
You can't pull them apart.
What about like sliding?
You can do this.
Okay, they don't seem to slide any direction.
I think pulling it apart's not the right way to go about it.
I mean, there are three of them.
I mean, there's a bit of noise on the inside.
I think there might be a magnet or something.
That's right, that's right.
You're getting there, Ethan.
Wait, there's like force pulling down on there.
Okay, so what if I get all three?
See, you didn't completely fail science.
You know what magnets are.
How does this work, man?
They're not coming apart.
I don't know.
Okay, fine, whatever.
I'm going to run out of time.
I use clue number three.
Really?
But then you're going to be out of clues for the rest of time.
Clue number three.
You're still going to need to use your brain
because the last clue you have left is asking a question.
Any question.
I need to think about this.
My question is how do you solve this puzzle?
I feel like that's against the rules.
It's a question, is it not?
It has a question mark on the end.
I could type it out for you.
Okay, fine, we didn't specify any rules
and honestly, I kind of want to answer that
just because I've been gaslighting you again.
Violence, bro.
Bang.
Give it a twist and voila.
I used my brain for once in my life
and the answer was violence.
It's always violence.
Well, this is going to be easy then.
How does this work?
I can't believe I literally showed you
and you still didn't figure it out.
Yes, violence, but your brain, you can't just turn it off.
You see, there's actually a little magnet that's inside here
and what's happening is when you bang this down,
that magnet is dropping down just for a second
and then you can either twist, slide or pull them open.
Each of them is different.
You just need to loosen up the magnet.
Smack that down and come on, please.
Yes, yes.
See, that one slides out in a turn.
Oh, okay, okay.
And then this one, um, please work.
Come on.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4.
In 3, 2 and 1.
Yes!
No way, you had to time that.
Oh, maybe I did, maybe I didn't,
but I'm disappointed in you.
You have hoodwinked, bamboozled and deceived me.
Hey, I'm innocent, bro.
I didn't force you to use those clues.
I was absolute cinema,
just like the next two puzzles will be
because they're even harder.
It doesn't matter.
I will have my revenge.
From Mother Russia, we have Sputnik Ball.
You want win?
Get the ball out of the wood.
This is my revenge.
There's no way you're beating this impossible one.
There's not a lot of variables.
It kind of shakes out,
maybe if you just push it really hard.
So the obvious thing would be one of these panels comes off,
but maybe it's not a pulling force,
it's a centrifugal force.
Do you know what that word means?
You wouldn't know because you failed.
Spinning.
We're going to spin it out.
Ready? No?
But it's got a ball in the centre.
Feel free to ask me for a clue anytime.
Okay, I don't need a clue.
I just need to think about it.
It's got to be...
I mean, you can think all you want.
There has to be something...
You should go check your refrigerator.
Wait, what?
That was the answer.
You just had to squeeze it together, man.
How did you do that?
That was intentional.
And so I guess I give you an F for your revenge
and I still haven't used a single one of my clues.
I know.
Except that could change very soon.
Up next are the toughest challenges yet,
including the puzzle that broke the internet.
See, your last puzzle failed because it was Russian.
This is an ancient Chinese machine
that fooled the globe for decades.
How am I supposed to do that then?
Well, now everybody and their mother knows how to do it
because we have the internet.
Okay, I guess I can give it a shot.
You just have to separate these two parts.
You love taking things apart.
It's right down your alley.
Okay, you look like you're taking a really intense poop.
Do not take a ball on the table.
Not on the table.
Maybe lift it on the table.
That's a great idea.
These move a little bit.
Your ideas have thwarted me thus far
and I will not be listening to you.
Wait, I have made a grand discovery.
N-E-W-S.
It spells news.
I need to check the news channel.
No, it's not news.
The letters mean something else.
Just think.
Think what else uses N-E-W-S?
Wait, what is it then?
Math?
Like, what am I supposed to do with this?
It's algebra.
No, it's not algebra, bro.
It's cardinal directions.
Like geometry?
Okay, very close.
Geography!
Geography, yeah!
You got it.
Okay, you have no idea what I'm saying.
No, I'm not supposed to do with that.
The directions tell you where to move.
It has to do with movement, right?
Okay, I'm moving it.
You gotta flow.
Look what I'm doing.
You know what?
I actually feel bad for you.
Oh, you're spinning!
So I'm giving you a free hint.
So I gotta flip like a coin?
Yes.
Heads or tails?
Centrifugal force.
What?
Heads or tails?
Honestly, this is the only free clue you're getting.
But remember last round what I was doing?
Oh, the spinning!
I get it now, man.
Why didn't you just tell me that?
China is so cooked.
They're so smart.
I can't keep up with...
Oh yeah, true.
You were doing that.
More Beyblade, bro.
More Beyblade.
No, Beyblades do not go rolling sideways.
Donuts.
I heard something.
Well, but I don't really know how this is supposed to come off.
Like, do I just keep spinning?
China, you're so smart.
How did you do that?
Wait, but how does this even work?
I have no idea still.
You see, there's actually these little pins that lock.
And when you spin them, they disappear inside.
Oh, because it pulls them outwards when it spins.
Oh, I see.
And there goes another one.
When you put them back together, give it a shake and the pins lock back in.
Yo, well, thank you so much for your help, man.
Just simple mechanics, bro.
Dude, I feel so grateful that I'm now back in the lead.
I don't need your assistance no more.
I'm the biggest brain.
This is why I don't help you.
I remember now.
This is the 6T puzzle.
You have to get all six of these blocks inside of that box.
Wow, seems simple enough.
Ready?
Four, five and six.
Yeah, so you have two sticking out right now.
That's not how you do it, buddy, because this puzzle is impossible.
How else do you do it?
There is literally a T-sized hole there.
If only four can fit in, only four.
Of course, you give me the hardest one.
After all I've done for you to help.
All you've done for me, man.
It sounds like you want a clue from me.
It's not clue time.
It is math time.
Math time is the worst time.
No math needed for this.
And to assist me, I shall get the help from the smartest person I know, myself.
You know you're on the clock, right?
Like, what are you doing?
Wait, he's giving up.
He's not giving up.
Did you just actually get yourself?
I mean, that is actually a pretty cute clone,
but how is that going to help you beat this impossible puzzle?
Please hold it in my plushie.
Point him towards me.
I need his aura.
Thank you.
You see, there are in fact six T's.
Bet you didn't know that.
Stop.
Stop whatever you're doing.
Puzzle is literally called six T's, except each T is not actually a T.
It is in fact one, two, three, four, five blocks.
I was hoping to get my money back for this.
One, two, three, four, five blocks.
Okay, well, you're just vandalising my puzzle now,
but what does this have to do with anything?
So, if we have six times five, that will give us 30.
Okay, so there are 30 singular cubes in total here.
Huh? Yeah, I'm listening.
Now, to check that this is mathematically possible,
we're going to line up a T with the side of here.
There's actually one, two, three, four cubes going this way,
so that means our length equals four.
Then we need our height, which we can use the T for,
and you can see that's about three blocks across here.
And then finally, our width, which is also three blocks.
The formula for volume.
Finally, my schoolwork is coming in handy.
Length times height times width,
which equals four times three is 12,
and 12 times three is 36.
So, there is room for 36 cubes in here, and we only have 30,
which means these T's have to fit in here,
as long as they are not T's.
Three T's up like that.
Now, four T's, five T's, maybe forward?
Yeah, perfect.
Five T's, six T's in a perfect cube.
We put one T in,
and then we're going to put another T here in the corner.
Let's just slide that to the side.
We'll grab our yellow T, and that goes right on the side.
So, go diagonal, slide it in,
and then we're going to simply put these like this
and drop them down.
Ready?
Yeah, that's not going to work.
Next, our orange T, which we just push to the back.
Look at that space right in there.
The perfect hole for our last green T.
Boom.
Wait, so EY plush actually made you smarter?
You could say that,
but you guys are going to have to find out,
because they're on sale for Black Friday right now.
You can head to eystream.store
or scan the QR code on the screen
to grab yourself Maximum IQ Aura Riz.
I'm just going to be heading out with this one,
if you don't mind.
Buddy, please.
I need the Aura and the Riz.
And the IQ.
He's not going to be around to help you with your last puzzle.
You're all out of clues,
and all you've got is yourself.
That means I just have to win the next puzzle,
and it's all over for you.
Actually, it really is all over for you,
because I have a small surprise puzzle punishment
if you lose.
This is our balancing act,
and your goal is to get all 12 of these loose nails
on top of this single hammered nail.
Okay, okay.
Stack them, baby.
Wait, I've got it.
I know how to do this one perfectly.
I'll be right back.
One hour later.
Huzzah!
Call me the puzzle master.
Did you even listen to my instructions?
All nails on wood.
No, balance on the nail.
Here's my backup.
Please, no cheating this time, all right?
This is not possible.
Look, okay, okay, wait.
Everybody just wait.
I've got this.
How?
Wait.
So you couldn't get them going up.
Now you think sideways is a good solution?
I think I could stack them with enough balance like this, right?
And look how many I'm getting.
Look how many I'm stacking.
No, no, it's bouncing.
I literally see them dropping down as you say that.
They're balancing in my hand.
And there we go.
Done.
Now let go.
Why?
Because to balance it means you can't be holding it.
What about like that?
Oh, wait.
Or I could position them all like this on top of each other.
What?
This definitely has to be the way, right?
And then I...
What if I do it like a...
You're definitely not going in the right direction.
What if I do it in like a star shape?
It's time.
I was just getting somewhere, man.
This is 100% impossible.
Nobody would have ever done this.
You're going to hate the solution because you were so close.
You were right.
It was hanging like this.
Except you just got to set it up beforehand.
Just like what you were doing.
You're going to put one nail down the center
and we're going to build a parallel lattice of nails going side to side.
Just like this, all right?
Okay, I get the heads are like interlocking now.
But then if you pick that up, it's just going to fall off.
Well, not if we place one nail on the other end.
Ready?
So we put that across the top.
Just like that.
Lock it in.
Boom, we have all 12 nails in a single lattice.
Show me balancing.
There's no way.
And now we put that in the center.
There's no way.
There's no shot.
Which means I just need to win the next one and it's all over.
Behold, the final boss of all puzzles, Excalibur.
Dude, it's literally a sword in the stone.
Where did you get this?
Cheap plastic and cheap plastic.
But this has broken multiple YouTubers.
The average sold time on this is about eight hours and 30 minutes.
So good luck.
And you want me to do this in 10 minutes?
Something to do with these pieces?
What in the...
Dude, how many pieces are there in here?
So this puzzle actually has about 120 steps to be complete,
which means you got to do a step every five seconds-ish.
What did you say?
That's ridiculous.
That's impossible.
Um, we'll get to it, buddy.
Okay, clue, clue, clue.
You want a clue from me?
You want me to give you a clue?
Okay, buddy, you ain't going to do any clues.
I want to win because the punishment I have in store for you is so good.
Okay, fine, fine, whatever.
Solve one.
Solve part of the puzzle for me.
Go.
Um, okay, so from memory, you need to sort of move these parts in
and do a little bit of wiggling.
Okay, there we go.
We've got our bottom piece coming out here.
Oh, this is actually tough.
This is actually tough.
Why would you ask me to do this?
I don't want to be punished with this too.
Okay, and then we need to move this one up.
It's all about the elbow grease you put in.
Let's just go ahead and move this one around and this one down.
There we go.
So we're getting some progress on the front panel here.
As you can see, there's no hole anymore.
And push that in, pull that up.
And now this one should be able to come out.
Look at how many moves are in there, bro.
These pieces are so complex.
They're like three-dimensional in four dimensions.
Come on, maybe underneath.
And if you pull it out like this.
I'm using my hint as well.
Already?
Quick, I'm running out of time.
Um, this one looks like it's ready to come out.
Excuse me.
That was just sitting there.
Bro, what a waste of a hint.
Oh my gosh.
Okay, but to be fair, I don't think I would have found that on my own.
I'm just, I don't want to, I don't want to alarm you.
But you've got about one minute left and only two pieces out.
Okay.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
What does that mean?
Embrace the dark side!
Choose violence!
Yes!
You only have 30 seconds.
I'm sorry, puzzle.
There's no way.
Wait, is that actually solved?
And I'd like to use my final clue now, please.
Um, okay.
Sure, you get one question.
I would like to know, what is your deepest, darkest fear?
Oh, there's a few things.
I mean, being embarrassed on the internet sucks.
That has happened a few times and I have a fear of that now.
Okay, well, we can make that fear come true.
Because I have just solved the Excalibur.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
That's five puzzles to you, six to me, and now it's on to our seventh.
This puzzle is called the Jailbreak.
Your goal is simple.
Break free.
Where did you get a cage from?
If I were you, I'd be a little bit more worried about finding the key.
It's basically an escape room, except you're going to need these.
Um, okay, sure.
But, um, why?
Well, your time starts now.
Wait, what do you mean?
What do you mean?
What is that?
I can't see anything, man.
Where's the key?
What is that?
