Welcome to Xiao Chu's Chrysanthemum Art School
I'm floral artist Wu Miyan
The Lunar New Year is approaching
Today we'll teach you how to make
a peony window decoration art piece
The project we've prepared today is a wooden window
featuring a glass-like pattern of crabapple blossoms
Later we'll show you
how to transform this wooden window into a floral decoration
and hang it on the wall
Before we begin
We'll begin with today's flower selection
Alright for the first step we need
to drill holes into the wooden window frame since it has no hanging points
so we can thread the
hemp rope through
So we'll expect to drill two
holes at the top of this window later on before
doing so we need to
confirm the window'
s dimensions—its
size is 25 centimeters
After dividing
25 centimeters
we get 12.5 so we'll make
a mark around
the 12.5 point
roughly at the 12.5 mark
We expect to drill a hole on both the
left and right sides of this center
point then pull the rope up through them
so those two holes must be equidistant
Because if you pull here
and pull there at the same
time the piece will end up
crooked so we pull separately
One centimeter on each side is enough
Alright let's mark one centimeter on each side
Once the marks are made
we'll take out our drill
I've chosen a 6 5mm drill bit for this drill
Now we're going to drill it
Alright when using the power drill we must be careful
We recommend standing while using the
drill for better leverage now we'll drill
one centimeter to the left and one
centimeter to the right of your center point
Alright we've already drilled two holes up here so now we'll
thread the hemp rope through them
and pull it up through the top
Then it's up to you how long you'd like it
to be Once we've made both
ends equal in length just
turn it around and pull it up And
there you have your decoration simply hung with a hemp rope
Alright now we'll begin working
on this piece Next we'll place
a layer of dried sponge here First let's confirm its length
Let's confirm its thickness—just make ours
about the same so we
can leave it like this
Mark it so we can proceed with the cut below
Alright now then we need to
insert the sponge
into this area so
we don't actually need it this
tall—let's just trim it down a bit
Then on the other side we'll fill that in as well
Wait a second we need to do it this way—wait there's a slight
uneven spot we'll fix it later—let 's
just use the glue gun for now
Glue them onto the wood
Then the glass side is also stuck
We also glued the bottom of the other piece
Apply some adhesive here near the glass as well
Now that it's securely glued trim off the
excess material above the wooden frame
Our first floral material is this round-leafed foliage
we want to place the round-
leafed foliage on the edge here
Let's start by making a straight cut on it
Next I'd like to use some
The mountain turtle comes to do some lines
The mountain turtle is a bit heavy
now let's help it lose some weight
I hope the mountain turtle is positioned
just a bit higher up in this spot
That mountain turtle has
thorns so be careful when
handling it Alternatively when arranging flowers
first prepare the materials
by trimming off all the
thorns to avoid getting pricked during the process
The mountain turtle has arrived at this location
I also want some mountain turtles with downward-facing lines
I wonder if there's a more
elegant line—this one should work
We'll use this one then we'll
trim it slightly same as before—
this way it feels a bit heavier
so we'll just give it a light cut
Let's give it a bit of depth
We don’t want its design to
be flat—we wanted it to project
slightly forward with a sense
of three-dimensionality like this
It will have a forward-
facing line next this is
Shanmao Jian this Shanmao
Jian is from our segment
last year introducing materials suitable for
dried flowers back then
we filmed it for the video
That's right at the stage
before and after drying
that's the demonstration of mountain longan— take
a look it's been nearly a year now and the
floral material is still in excellent condition
We place a shanmao sword at this
spot in front of your round leaf
Then find a larger one
and place it higher
up like here
Alright so we have two types of statice flowers
Same flower material again
Just like we did last time
in that episode introducing dried flower materials
back then we used fresh globe amaranth
And how it looks after drying
That's also been sitting for nearly a year already
This is its current flowering condition
So today all these works
we're using fresh flowers that are air-dried
or already dried fresh flowers
those already-dried flowers
they all come from fresh flowers
Direct natural drying
So like mountain turtles these are
suitable for direct fresh flower natural drying
Well you'll notice that its
flower stem is relatively thin
and soft if you encounter
such a situation you can thread
wire through it or try gently
rubbing it to see if you can guide it to the desired position
—if that doesn't work then…
It's just about threading the wire—good
as I expected it to be in this position
Let's try wiping it first if that
doesn't work we'll use wire instead
It's acceptable so let's just let
it naturally unfold in this way
and also add
some small strawflowers
gently placed in this spot
Alright let's
wipe two more
Just now the first
bloom had a slightly
weak stem so we supported it with wire
Alright let's trim it with
wire cutters then secure
the wire to its
original natural stem using floral tape
Alright we're four chrysanthemums short then
Same flower material as before
is Golden Lotus
The Golden Lotus is fresh today
So let's trim the Golden Lotus for use
Fresh Golden Lotus will
naturally dry over time
So we don't need to water it—let it gradually
become a dried golden
lotus within this artwork
Alright let's keep it right here
Then we'll add a bit more golden lotus to
incorporate more yellow elements into the piece
Good add a golden lotus branch between the flowers
In between we'll add some golden lotus blooms
as smaller accents to highlight the yellow center That's how
we'll handle the golden lotus for
now Next the flower material is one with blooms
The eucalyptus leaves then dyed golden
Let's trim them a bit
Let's add some embellishments—like the bottom-left bottom-right
and center areas and also sprinkle
a few around the lower center
Trim this section here
I think the golden
leaves in the
Spring Festival artwork give off
a shimmering golden aura evoking
a sense of luck and prosperity
Then in this piece I've incorporated a
vintage spring bloom with a touch of gold
elements next the flower material is lotus
eye which I find to be
a round granular shape
It's a bit larger than a mountain
turtle's shell and it has a fuzzy
texture so I want this fruit's
state in the piece to reflect that
Smooth bright red turtle shells
appear alongside more fuzzy textures
and irregularly shaped circular lake
-like eyes to create varied textures
Alright let's clean the lake's eye
As for the lake eye the lines of
this piece are already quite clear
so I'd prefer to use the lake eye
simply as a filler—just for filling
I won't specifically extend the lines too long
That's fine we'll just add a subtle touch to the lake eye
Next we'll choose this material
It's a more earth-toned shade
A touch of beige-grayish hue in the bunny tail grass
I think pampas grass has a kind of lively pulsing
quality and I find its fluffy texture incredibly cute
I'd like it to have a more
dynamic feel in this piece
Compare leaving this body then
leaping into the
air so I'll just let
it surge forward or upward—I'll
have it move forward
once naturally
Next to
We make each tuft of bunny tail grass as varied
as possible with some strands long and others short
Alright then let's leave it at that for now with the rabbit-tail grass
The next floral material we
also choose gold-colored富贵叶 which
we dye in gold to enhance the
luxurious elegance of this piece
Alright actually Fugui Ye just needs to fill in
the gaps now since our project is almost complete
We'll just fill in the
gaps briefly that's
enough—we won't keep drawing lines anymore
Alright now that the floral arrangement
is complete this piece is about 98
percent finished To
finish it off perfectly
we'll add a small couplet right here
Actually we don't place it right in the center—we position it so
the piece resembles a small crescent moon and
we put the couplet in the indented area
Alright we can just use double-sided tape
—just stick it onto this hawthorn window
Well then our work is now complete
This is the Spring Festival flower
arrangement we designed today
Peony Window Flower Style
As for the base of today's creation
we chose vintage peony-patterned glass
Make a wooden-framed window
If any student today wants to create this piece
and doesn't know where to find a hawthorn flower window
the truth is this type of glass is now extremely rare
That's why I specifically hired a carpenter to make this
window for me—we're making a few extra copies mainly because
this piece will be featured during the Lunar New Year week
at our small floral school Little Kitchen Floral Academy
We start offering this course about one or two weeks before Chinese New Year
so I’ve prepared extra batches
in case anyone watching this video wants to make it themselves
You can order this window from Xiao Chu Ju Floral School
What about this window
It's quite rare so I think it'd be worth collecting
Alright let's review today's creations
Today after we received this window
we first drilled two holes in it
and the size of those holes
will match the diameter of my drill bit
0.65 centimeter Then thread a hemp rope
through it to make a hanging ornament It
can be hung on the wall especially if the
window doesn't have a hook to hang it on
Next we cut a thin piece of sponge and
place it beneath your window then we begin
inserting today’s main flower which we’ve
designated for this area
—the focal point flower
We used Shanmao Jian also known as Dracaena
fragrans and this is strawflower—both of these
floral materials were prepared about a year
ago as part of a theme
focused on dried flowers
If anyone's interested you can also go back and watch that episode
dried flower materials
back then we conducted an experiment by buying lots of fresh flowers
and letting them air-dry naturally over the course of a month
The flowers will still look beautiful one year later
For today's piece we aim to use only dried flowers
that were originally dried flowers
Or if we don’t particularly care for the flowers
after placing them letting them naturally dry out
on their own then after
finishing our main arrangement
went ahead and added the golden river flowers
Golden flower is fresh
so after drying its particles become a bit smaller
but it remains yellow
actually the first step should be inserting this one first
This is the original Puyeh leaf it's
also dry Then we start
inserting some with
more defined lines—this is the mountain
turtle We guide it to go up and down
and among different particles the small red dots have this smooth
vid red turtle-like appearance
while others are less intensely red
Then a slightly fuzzy irregularly
shaped lake eye—this lake eye we
also chose to be red—then let it vary in different particle sizes
The varying textures of the fruits reflect abundance
which is why we have numerous symbols of harvest
such as bountiful floral arrangements
like Golden River Flower Mountain Tortoise and Lake Eye
What about the remaining floral materials
Let the pampas grass pop out
then use the leaves to fill in the empty spaces
so in fact when we look at it this way the sponge is completely hidden
Principally the front sixty to seventy percent
we've already laid out all the lines we planned to pull out
the remaining part just requires adding some low-lying leaves
Like Fugui Ye or Lake Eye we all just use short
pieces to fill in the gaps so actually this piece
isn't difficult at all—I think it might be manageable
for most people doing their own DIY projects
The trickiest part might be drilling with the electric drill
Finally the project is complete
Then everyone can simply stick on a small Spring Festival couplet
You can even write your own couplet
So I think it's a truly perfect DIY project
this piece was hung in
our home during the Lunar
New Year celebration and even after the holiday ended
we kept it up and just left it there
It can be stored for a whole
year and still remain in this condition similarly when the
mountain returns this is the golden ginkgo
whose dried particles
might be slightly smaller
Or if the color isn't so bright it's still a beautiful dried flower artwork
That concludes today 's
lesson topic—Spring Festival Crabapple Window
Decorations I hope you all enjoy this theme
Wishing everyone a blessed
Lunar New Year happiness and
peace for your entire family and may the coming year bring you health safety and
all your wishes fulfilled
