Come to deepest Dorset England for a tour of Mapperton with Julie Montagu the American Countess
"GOOD CONTENT"#architecture #castle
Once described as the "finest manor house in England", Mapperton has been home to the Earls of Sandwich since 1955 and is now lived in by Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl and his American wife Julie. In the eighteenth century the 4th Earl of Sandwich gave his name to, you guessed it, a popular lunchtime meal. Here at Mapperton, Julie gives us a tour showing us Tudor and Georgian aspects of her home, and walls covered with portraits of generations of Earls and Countesses. We also sneak a view of the state bedroom, the drawing room and the "Bastard Brothers" staircase , and Julie takes a dip in Mapperton's famous swimming pond... unlike any other swimming pool in the world.
In the UK you can view more of Mapperton and what happens here on "Saving Country Houses With Penelope Keith" on Channel 4.
