The Nihilist Penguin

This video is inspired by a real moment from Werner Herzog’s 2007 documentary, Encounters at the End of the World, here a lone penguin leaves the colony and walks toward the mountains.
"But one of them caught our eye, the one in the centre... He would neither go towards the feeding grounds at the edge of the ice, nor return to the colony.
Shortly afterwards we saw him heading straight towards the mountains, some 70 kilometers away.
Doctor Ainslie explained, that even if he caught him and brought him back to the colony, he would immediately head right back for the mountains ---- But Why...?"

No one knows why he left.
No one followed him.

Some saw weakness.
Others saw madness.

But maybe… it was choice.

It’s a reflection on loneliness, meaning, and the courage to walk a path no one understands.
