In today's top news, the Seattle Seahawks emerged victorious yesterday against New England Patriots 29 to 13, denying the Patriots a record seventh championship title. Fans in Seattle erupted in celebration after the final whistle, with watch parties and supporters spilling into the streets near Victory Hall. The decisive play came late in the game when Seattle intercepted a deflected pass from quarterback Drake May and returned it for a score. Running back Kenneth Walker, the third, rushed for 135 yards, becoming the first running back since Terrell Davis 28 years ago to win Super Bowl MVP. And we'll have more Super Bowl analysis with Dave Martin later in the show, so stay tuned for that. Turning to the competition off the field, two competing halftime events went head to head. The NFL's traditional show and the conservative backed alternative. We've got NTD's Daniel Monaghan with the highlights. And this one's for you, Charlie. With those words, conservative commentator Jack Posevitz paid tribute to the late Turning Point USA co founder while debuting the organization's All-American Halftime Show. That was just moments before Bad Bunny took the stage at Levi Stadium at the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California. The dueling halftime performances date back to last year when the NFL named Bad Bunny to headline the halftime show in September. The rock band Green Day was added to lead the opening ceremony. Both acts have openly criticized President Trump. The NFL's decision motivated Turning Point USA to create the All-American Halftime Show as an alternative. It described its show as providing entertainment for viewers that celebrate American culture, freedom and faith. Kid Rock was the most notable name in Turning Point USA's event. Here he is on Fox News discussing the show. They realized there's a big portion of this country, like it or not, that's underserved entertainment wise. And, you know, we're just gonna go play for our base. You know, people who love America, love football, love Jesus. Rock added a verse to Cody Johnson's Till You Can't in an emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk. The Turning Point show also showcased performances by country singers Lee Bryce, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett. The NFL has stood by having Bad Bunny host the halftime show amid pushback from conservatives. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called him one of the great artists in the world before the Super Bowl. Before the dueling shows, social media lit up with chatter from supporters of both artists. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he was excited to watch Kid Rock in the All-American Super Bowl halftime show. Former President Barack Obama's Obama Foundation posted, from one natural-born U.S. citizen to another, have a great Benito Bowl. War Secretary Pete Hegseth greeted the audience with a video clip. That should be a reflection of the virtue that hopefully you want society to embody. Bad Bunny is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio. He has been an outspoken critic of federal immigration law enforcement efforts by the Trump administration. He was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He often wears a dress when performing and primarily sings in Spanish. He was Spotify's most streamed artist globally in 2025. In September 2025, he said that he would not perform in the United States because of ice operations. Bad Bunny's halftime show included performances from special guests Alex Earle and Cardi B and Ricky Martin, among other stars who appeared on stage. Lady Gaga made a cameo and danced with the headline artist before her performance of Die With a Smile. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt last week chimed in on which show, Bad Bunny or Kid Rock, President Trump would prefer. I think the president would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny, I must say that. Trump called Bad Bunny's halftime show absolutely terrible. The president said the dancing was disgusting, especially for young children. Nearly 6 million people watched the turning point All-American halftime show. And the search for Nancy Guthrie is now on day nine and still officials have not named a suspect or person of interest in the case. NBC Today host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings released another video Saturday, this time pleading directly with the possible kidnapper or kidnappers. There's more. The desperate search for Nancy Guthrie now stretching into a second week. We beg you now to return our mother to us. Today's show hosts Savannah Guthrie clutching her two siblings in the newly released video Saturday where they directly address the kidnapper or kidnappers. We received your message and we understand you will pay. This latest message comes after reported ransom notes have been sent to some Tucson, Arizona newsrooms and TMZ. One note allegedly demanding $6 million in the form of Bitcoin by Monday at five p.m. Threaten Nancy Guthrie's life. If those demands were not met, the FBI released a statement Friday saying investigators are quote actively inspecting the information provided in the message for its authenticity. Then on Sunday, the Pima County Sheriff's Office posting on X, they still have no suspects or persons of interest. At this point, I think we all have a heightened sense of do we trust this? Are these hoaxsters or is this really going to bring Nancy home? Saturday night, at least three deputy sheriffs were seen at her daughter, Annie Guthrie's home, but no details were released as to why. For days, investigators have been scouring the Tucson, Arizona desert neighborhood where Nancy Guthrie lives for clues. So far, nothing has led them to her whereabouts. The 84 year old was reported missing last Sunday after a friend told family members she did not show up for church services. FBI has placed digital billboards throughout Arizona in surrounding states, hoping for tips back in Nancy's neighborhood candles, messages of hope left outside her home. It almost feels like time is standing still right now. President Trump is congratulating Japan's prime minister after a coalition secured a decisive election victory. In a post on True Social yesterday, Trump wished Sanae Takahichi great success, praising what he called a conservative peace through strength agenda. Trump said that Takahichi's party holds a historic two-thirds supermajority in the Japanese parliament for the first time in decades. He also wrote that it was his honor to endorse her. Takahichi responded on X, thanking Trump for his message and signaling plans to visit Washington. She described the potential of the U.S. Japan alliance as limitless. The big win is paving the way for Takahichi's agenda, which aims to boost Japan's economy and military capabilities to counter China. NTD's Flora Hua has that story. Japan's ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Sanae Takahichi secured a landslide election victory on Sunday, with the coalition partner Takahichi now has a supermajority in Japan's lower house, meaning her legislative agenda can override the upper chamber, which she does not control. Takahichi called the early election only after three months in office. In a Truth Social post last Friday, Trump gave Takahichi his total endorsement and says he plans to host her at the White House in March. Takahichi thanked President Trump via her social media on Sunday, saying she's looking forward to the visit and hopes to continue to boost the U.S.-Japan alliance. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett called Takahichi a great ally on Fox News' Sunday Morning Future's Watch. Japan, the Prime Minister, called a snap election, the quickest snap election in Japanese history, and boy has she had a big victory today. She's going to have two-thirds majority in the upper house. President Trump endorsed her last week. She is a great ally, great relationship with the President, and when Japan is strong, the U.S. is strong in Asia. The U.S. ambassador to Japan, George Glass, also congratulated the Prime Minister, calling the result a magnificent victory. The result comes as tensions between Japan and China over Taiwan grow. Last year, Takahichi warned that any Chinese attack on the island could trigger a military response from Japan. Takahichi is Japan's first female leader, who says she's inspired by Britain's Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher. Laura Hua, NDTV News. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet President Trump in Washington on Wednesday. The two are expected to discuss negotiations with Iran following indirect talks between U.S. and Iranian officials on Friday. Netanyahu's office said in a statement that any negotiations must include limitations on ballistic missiles and a halting of the support for the Iranian axis. The meeting on Wednesday will be the seventh between the two leaders since Trump took office. Now to Hong Kong, where Jimmy Lai, an important pro-democracy voice and outspoken critic of the Chinese Communist Party, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Hong Kongers and the world are reacting strongly to the sentence. Here's that story. A court in Hong Kong has sentenced media founder and critic of China's Communist Party Jimmy Lai to 20 years in prison. A panel of judges sentenced Lai under the city's national security law, a law imposed by the Chinese regime in 2020. Lai, who started the pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily, was convicted in December last year of colluding with foreign forces and publishing so-called seditious material. Before his sentencing Monday, he had already spent years in custody. Supporters had been lining up outside the courthouse for days, hoping to see him in person. I think the Hong Kong situation now is like today's weather, gray and covered with dark clouds. Apple Daily was the only platform which carried the voice of the Hong Kongers. Today's sentence brought no relief. The judges spared Lai the maximum penalty of life in prison, but for the 78-year-old, 20 years could still mean he remains in prison for the rest of his life. Lai's family says his health has worsened during years of detention. His son called the punishment devastating for the family and life-threatening for his father. The ruling prompted immediate criticism from press freedom advocates. Jody Ginzburg, CEO of the Committee to Protect Journalists, said in a statement, the rule of law has been completely shattered in Hong Kong. The Asia Director of Human Rights Watch Elaine Pearson said Lai's sentence is effectively a death sentence. She added Lai's years of persecution shows the Chinese government's determination to crush independent journalism and silence anyone who dares to criticize the Communist Party. Edward Lee, a former chief breaking news editor for Apple Daily, said Lai's prison sentence was shocking. The words I've heard the most today are, there's nothing more to say. Everyone has reached a point where they're completely lost for words. When you see this verdict, you really don't know what else you can say. Senator Rick Scott said in a statement, Jimmy Lai was unjustly sentenced by Communist China to 20 years in prison for the crime of daring to think differently from the CCP and refusing to use his newspaper to spread CCP propaganda. Taiwan's government condemned the harsh sentence and called for Lai's release. Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council said Lai's sentence under Hong Kong's national security law not only deprives him of his personal liberty and tramples on freedom of speech and press freedom, but also denies the people's basic right to hold those in power accountable. Still to come, Arctic air lingers over the Northeast with New York City freezing, but forecasters say relief is finally here. This week on Capitol Hill, Republicans are set to vote on the SAVE Act, a measure to create voter ID requirements and eliminate non-citizen voting. But are they really good substitutes? A physician explains the dangers of social isolation and why human connection is essential to our health. Welcome back. Next, a quick look at the weather conditions over much of the East are still freezing, but relief is on the way. Forecasters say winds will slowly subside during the week and temperatures will gradually start to rise. In New York, the temperature went down to three degrees yesterday, with wind chills making it feel closer to negative 14. In other parts of the Northeast, the feels like temperatures went down to minus 40. Fortunately though, forecasters say the temperature will increase every day this week and move into the forties by Wednesday. Yesterday, New York City was colder than parts of Antarctica, but it didn't stop people from going out. Ntd Sean Marshall has that story. New York City emergency management warns that temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit can cause frostbite in a matter of minutes. Officials are urging New Yorkers to stay indoors whenever possible and to call 311 if they see anyone out in the cold that may need help. Not everyone is staying indoors, though. In Central Park, police and Rangers are on high alert, keeping people off of the ice. Even though there are many videos on social media of people walking and skating on the ice, doing so is strictly prohibited and dangerous. Rescue ladders can be found around bodies of frozen water just in case the ice breaks and someone falls in. And even with temperatures staying below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, many can be seen walking and running around like it's just another day in the park. To remind New Yorkers this is the coldest weather conditions that we have experienced in the city for eight years. New York City intensified emergency outreach efforts on Friday as dangerously cold temperatures returned with mayors on Mamdani warning that extreme weather has already proven deadly for some of the city's most vulnerable residents. The city remains in code blue, which means that we are intensifying outreach that we are conducting around the clock checks and have loosened traditional shelter intake procedures to accommodate as many New Yorkers as possible. 311 calls are being rerouted to 911. So help gets there faster and we are immensely grateful for the 911 operators who serve as the connective tissue of our emergency operations. City is working with the state to redirect mental health teams to focus on life saving street and subway outreach. Mamdani said the city has opened 10 new warming shelters since last Friday and added seven health and hospital centers across all five boroughs. 10 additional warming buses have also been deployed at key locations. According to AccuWeather forecasters, the cold storm pattern is not quite over yet. Long range meteorologists have been monitoring the possibility of another winter storm to develop across the eastern United States near the second week of February, including Valentine's Day weekend. Sean Marshall in T. D. News lawmakers returned to Washington today with just days to find a funding solution on the Department of Homeland Security or see the agency shut down. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries says Democrats are standing firm on their demands for reforms to federal immigration enforcement. He says if those demands aren't met, a D. H. S. Shut down would be the fault of Republicans. The Democrats list of requirements includes requiring immigration enforcement agents to wear body cameras and remove face masks. With the Friday deadline fast approaching, certain Republican lawmakers have indicated openness to some of their demands, but other demands are seeing more pushback from Republicans. Missing Friday's deadline would not cause a full government shut down as the deadline is for an agreement to provide funding just for D. H. S. Meanwhile, Republicans on Capitol Hill are pushing to eliminate non citizen voting. House Speaker House lawmakers are teeing up a vote this week in a bid to pressure the Senate to act entities. Molina Wise Cup reports Republicans in Congress doubling down on an effort to require voters to show I. D. To vote in all elections. You look around the world, upwards of 90% of democracies require voter idea. The idea that you wouldn't have it would probably seem bizarre. It's an effort to root out non citizen voting, which critics argue is an issue that should be left to the states. Every state should be allowed to decide the best way to proceed to ensure that there's a free and fair election here in New York. There are in fact voter identification requirements. The Save Act would set federal standards for voting requirements, which in some cases could help states enforce laws they already have on the books. When people talk about wanting to respect states and their sovereignty, I say I'm 100% for that. The Save Act will stop the federal government from interfering with our ability to require that everybody on the voter rolls be a citizen of the United States. While voter idea is a popular idea among voters from all parties, Democrats in Congress have repeatedly blocked the measure from advancing this week. House lawmakers are ramping up the pressure on their Senate colleagues. The problem is Chuck Schubert and the Democrats have been blocking it. So now we're calling on leader soon to change this and to force what we call a talking filibuster so that we can force a vote on the Senate floor. A talking filibuster would require steep commitments from both sides of the aisle. The goal is to open up an unlimited floor debate until one side gives, allowing for a simple majority vote and sidestepping the need for Democrat support. President Trump on I'd love to use the filibuster. The Save Act is very important voter I. D. I mean, if you look at it, no mail in voting and you have to have proof of citizenship. Everybody wants it. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has not committed to taking the time consuming approach. Instead, he's aiming to attach the Save Act to the must pass bill to fund the D. H. S. We will get a vote on the Save Act at some point, and I'm not sure exactly what that context will be. It might be hope. Maybe it's in the in the context of voting on the D. H. S. Bill. If something's agreed upon, lawmakers face an end of the week deadline to fund the D. H. S. And prevent another partial government shutdown. Reporting from Washington, D. C. Molina Weiss Cup in T. D. News. Trump administration is warning of big potential social services fraud in Maine. The administration's top health care official suggests it could be as big as Minnesota's recent welfare scandal. Medicare and Medicaid Administrator Dr Oz said yesterday on businessman John Kasten met Madison's radio show. But this is another big crisis that looks a lot like Minnesota's. It comes after Maine Republicans sounded the alarm late last year. A whistleblower alleged millions of dollars have gone missing from the state's Medicaid program. Just like in Minnesota, Dr Oz alleges this fraud is also connected to the state's Somali population. Investigators estimate over $1 billion have been redirected from social services programs in Minnesota. According to Dr Oz, Minnesota and Maine are just two among many cases of Medicare and Medicaid fraud. He's repeatedly named California as one of the worst offenders, prompting pushback from Governor Gavin Newsom. The Trump administration's top Medicare official, Dr Oz, is urging Americans to get vaccinated as measles cases rise across the country, especially in South Carolina. Dr Oz said yesterday measles is a disease where vaccination is particularly important. Federal data shows hundreds of cases already reported this year, most involving people who did not receive a measles vaccine. CDC figures show South Carolina accounts for the majority of those infections. Dr Oz also stressed that access to the MMR vaccine is widely covered under federal health programs. At the same time, the Department of Health and Human Services told the Epoch Times that vaccination decisions should still be discussed between families and their doctors. Memories of the pandemic are still fresh in the minds of many people. Social isolation and working from home became the norm, but the toll on our mental and physical health is still not fully understood. In this episode of Vital Signs, physician and author Dr Molly Maloof joins host Brendan Falun to explain the surprising harm that loneliness can cause and why a certain amount of social stress can actually be good for us. Here's a preview. My takeaway from a pedestrian understanding is that a little bit of the right stress, healthy stress is good for the body. Sure. How does that translate to relationships? Right. So when we hear the word hormesis, most people think immediately of like feasting and fasting, hot and cold exposure, sauna and cold plunge, exercise and recovery, you know, H. Bot and, you know, normal oxygen levels. They don't always think of social hormesis. So when I was going through the pandemic, I realized that social isolation was really detrimental to my health and the health of my students at Stanford. And I really wanted to understand why. And I discovered that social isolation creates maladaptive social cognition and really creates the conditions where social interaction can be really stressful. On the flip side, when we put ourselves in social environments, there is initially some stress, right? There's occasionally conflicts, resolutions. There's novelty to experiences. Going to a conference with hundreds, if not thousands of people is a stressful experience. And a little bit of stress can activate vasopressin, right? Which is like putting you in a state of defense, maybe trying to protect yourself because you want to make sure that you're safe. This is normal. But what you're supposed to experience is a resolution of that state. So, for example, if you're at a conference and you don't know anyone, but then you walk into the crowd, you see someone, you know, and you get a hug, you're getting oxytocin and that's completing the hormetic cycle, going from a little bit of stress to recovery to safety. And that cycle over time can create a more resilient person. You become more resilient to more social stress. You can handle larger crowds. You can handle more people. And it's really important for those who are socially isolated to give themselves small hormetic doses of social interaction in order to become more accustomed, more acquainted to feeling comfortable in social environments, especially if you've had a period of social isolation. In terms of the students you mentioned at Stanford, did you give them guidance to apply that principle coming out of the pandemic or dealing with being in that situation? It was a really difficult time to be doing all of this work because at the time I didn't actually know about social hormesis, but I did know about the importance of human connection. And it felt like a lot of my lectures were really coming to life in real time. And it was really tough when I was going through the human connection lecture because we were basically forced to quarantine. This was during the quarantine period that I was teaching, which means that it was very hard for people to actually leave their homes. So, I think when the quarantines were lifted it became easier for students, but I think the students that were on campus and had communities around them thrived a lot more than the students that were at home and more isolated. Mentioning that situation where people couldn't leave their houses, the opportunities for the internet, online connection, were paramount at that time. Yeah. It's kind of a double-edged sword though, I think, with the technology and the prevalence of screen use and everything. It's this observed phenomenon where, I guess, Gen Y, Gen Z more so having trouble connecting with people because they're so used to interacting via this medium. Right. How do we deal with this kind of situation when we have this kind of social force inhibiting our interaction to some degree? Well, we need to start addressing the problem of process social connection and process sex. Porn and social media are both not surrogates for human connection, human intimacy. They are not substitutes. They are very inferior. They do not give you social cues. They do not help you develop social interaction skills. And they are deeply problematic for young people because we have record rates of anxiety and depression, especially in young women. It's a big, big issue and I think we need to, you know, the government needs to get involved and we need to start addressing it on a macro level and not just with parents because it's really tough to take a kid's screen away from them. But we also need to realize that the more isolated you are, the more you experience social interaction through screens and not through actual human interaction, you are still physically isolated. Right. And without that human interaction, your brain, its natural state without human connection physically is unsafety signaling. That is the generalized unsafety theory of stress. It's that your brain's baseline default mode setting when you are alone is to feel unsafe and hypervigilant to find threats. I was elk hunting last week and there was this lone elk running around like going berserk because elk hunting. Yes. It didn't have a herd next to it. It was extremely vulnerable. So we developed loneliness as a primitive hunger signal to bring you closer to your tribe. Right. And unfortunately, like one in two people are lonely and loneliness is worse for your health than 15 cigarettes a day. So loneliness is actually worse for your health than smoking, drinking, sedentary behavior and obesity. So we need to really address loneliness systemically and we need to really teach parents that their kids need to interact and we should ideally create the conditions where, you know, young people can interact together in person and not always be glued to their phones because it's not a substitute and it's contributing directly to anxiety. The way that we turn off unsafety signaling is human connection, in person connection. And unfortunately, this isn't widespread in taught in medical schools, nor is it taught in residencies. And so it's very new science and it takes about 15 years for things to go from the bench to the bedside. So I think eventually this will get to the forefront. But I'm unfortunately one of the earliest people and kind of feel like a canary in the coal mine to see that full interview and others on how to optimize health. So my prayers are with everyone that's involved in this play that, you know, the light can shine and this could stop. Very, very positive message. I mean, anyone that undergoes persecution anyway, and if they're out there, you know, freedom fighting and because they believe in, they're doing the right thing, prayer and meditation. Uh, it's an incredible message and you have that definitely weaved in throughout the entire storyline here. Shen Yun's performance also includes solo performances from singers and instrumentalists, which impressed some of the audience members. The musical score was absolutely amazing. I mean, honestly, like it's just, it feels, it's a symphony, but it feels like any movie you would see, like a Christopher Nolan movie or whatever, you know, it's very consistent to really add to the theme of the overall message. I'm used to that to the, uh, the Italian, uh, you know, opera, but, uh, I, I, I really loved, uh, the, uh, the soprano and, um, and the bel canto because this is what I, what I, what I studied for. Amazing voices. Amazing. And two different aspects, which just really brought it together. And they sang in such a space where it really brought the heart, their heart in particular out and just brought it out from, I believe the audiences. I love how they take the traditional Chinese instruments and add them into the orchestra. It adds such a nice element, makes it feel very authentically Chinese, which I love. N.T.D. Romance scams are on the rise and with the development of online platforms for connecting with strangers, broadsters methods and means are becoming more and more sophisticated and nuanced as Valentine's day approaches. We have with us legendary FBI operative Eric O'Neill. He's the author of spies, lies and cybercrime and has advice on proactively protecting yourself and your loved ones. Good to see you today, Eric. How do most romance scams begin? Well, most romance scams begin with a slow burn. And here what we're talking about is those scams that capture you into what you perceive as a romance. But really what you're talking to is a cybercriminal using an avatar that he either borrowed from someone else's social media account or stock photos or today more and more is creating whole cloth with A.I. deep fakes. Oh, incredible. So what are some red flags that people can watch out for? Well, Valentine's Day scams want to do is use emotion against you. And what they'll do is they will create some sort of emotional trust through dating apps like or even Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp. And then what they do is they introduce a crisis that requires money fast and they always have a sense of urgency. It could be medical bills, legal trouble or even a story like someone stole my wallet. I just need some money really quick. Now, the trigger for anyone who might be in this is there's this urgency. I need money fast confidentiality. Please don't tell anyone. Keep this private. They don't want you to go ask a friend for help. And they often want a quick wire transfer or they talk you into sending crypto or even reading out the codes for gift cards. So anytime someone is trying to get you to send crypto or a wire transfer any time of the year, it might be a scam. But if you think that your new romance might be a cybercriminal, you have to be very careful. And one more tactic they use that's happening a lot now is what's called love bombing. Sounds pretty cool, but it's not. It's a manipulation tactic where these scammers just absolutely overwhelm you with affection in normal relationships. It might take a long time for someone to say, I love you. But a scammer, a romance scammer is going to say it really quickly. They're going to say that we're we're racing towards forever. I've never felt so deeply for you. These sort of things way farther, way closer than someone would normally say. So one good rule of thumb here is if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. So you should investigate. And how common are romance scams today? The crime is in the billions. It has gone up year after year after year. It really hit its start during covid during the lockdowns when everyone was looking for connection and using online connection far more than human connection. And cybercriminals prey on that online connection. They will never meet with you in person. So one tip that I do give is try to get them to meet in person, even if they fly across the country, try to get them to in person. And if they have excuses every single time might be a scam. Why is that? Where are these people usually based? Well, they might not be in the U.S. Right. If if you're in the U.S., they might be in one of the countries that launches a lot of these cyber attacks like Russia, for example, or they're here in the U.S. They're launching this scam. And they know that if they show up, they don't look anything like the A.I. avatar they created that you fell in love with. There's another romance scam that's going around, too. Cybercriminals are pretending they're celebrities. There was a very famous case recently where a woman in Paris was scammed out of eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars because she thought she fell in love with the superstar actor Brad Pitt. And the cybercriminals used A.I. generated images of Brad Pitt in a hospital. And he said, I need money for medical bills. I'm in a fight with my business manager. I just need you to float me some money and I'll pay you back. And she, of course, thought it was Brad Pitt that she was in love with and he'd pay her back and sent the cybercriminals eight hundred fifty thousand dollars before she found out it was a scam. Yeah. So, I mean, some of these stories really a person could feel ashamed, you know, after that becomes aired and and not just something as extreme as that, but many of the everyday stories, I'm sure, have that element of embarrassment. So what do you suggest for people who may be feeling unsure as to whether they've fallen in love with an actual person or a criminal, but they're also don't want to sort of tell people about it. They need to verify. What would you suggest? Who can they turn to? That's a very good point, because criminals understand the psychology of this. There's something called confirmation bias, and that means that we want something to be true so badly. We find ways to fool ourselves in the believing that that thing that we know in our heart of hearts isn't true. It can't be true. It's too good to be true is true. And we get very embarrassed when our inner conscience starts saying this can't be true. I think this is a scam and find ways to talk ourselves out of it. And that might mean you don't go to a friend. It's critical to have that hard nose, really skeptical friend that you can reach out to and say, can you just check over my shoulder on this? Does this look like this person is real? They seem too perfect. And that person will almost nine times out of 10 say that doesn't look real. And that can be very helpful. So you have to push through that embarrassment. You have to reach out for help. And that can save you a lot of money in the long run. And all those connections in person can help stave off the loneliness that often leads to these kinds of random online connections that we're seeing in this social phenomena today. Coming up in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks wrote a fierce defense to victory last night, clinching the franchise's second Super Bowl win. And to these, Dave Martin joins us to discuss. And now for new sports news, we're joined by entities. Dave Martin, Dave, there is so much going on, especially the Olympics news, but also Super Bowl. Let's start with the NFL. Seattle beat New England last night, 29 to 13. Did it play out like you expected? I know you made a prediction just before the weekend. I did make a prediction. I was right. It did have Seattle winning. I thought it was very much, much closer. I mean, the game, I guess, in some ways it did play out how I thought it would. Like, you know, Seattle's defense was very dominant, but they were probably even more dominant than I thought. Now they were all over Patriots quarterback Drake May from the start. They finished with six sacks of May. That's one show, one shy of the Super Bowl record, really for all intents and purposes. That last one they got to him that got the ball out of him and ran it for a touchdown. I mean, that was as good as a stack. It looked like a strip sack to me. That would have been seven. They counted that as an interception instead. I mean, but their pass rush was so fierce. It had an effect on May, even when the few times that he had actually time to throw the ball. I mean, he looked like he was sped up. Then when he did have the time when he did have open receivers, wasn't able to hit them. Now, some of that could be he had that shoulder injury heading into the Super Bowl, so that could be part of it, too. But he did not have his best day there. Now. Meanwhile, the Patriots, they couldn't run the ball either. So then when they fell behind by a couple of scores there, you know, in the second half, they were in big trouble because then all they had to do was, you know, the these Seahawks know you're going to pass, and so they're going to be all over the pass rush there. So a very dominant win by Seattle. That is their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. That's true, though. Despite the dominant win, the game was actually pretty close. Yeah, really through first three quarters. I mean, it was it was not nine nothing at halftime. It was 12 nothing through three quarters. You know, Patriots defense kept them in that they did well on defense as well. Really, I would say Sam Darnold, his scrambling ability really kind of separated the game there early on there in the first half, especially they got a few field goals there early on and Chris Collins were one of the best commentators out there for NBC. I really like listening to him. He pointed that out. I thought he was spot on with that there in the first half, and they got that they got also the running back Kenneth Walker. They got him going. He had a big first half, 94 yards rushing. That was a big difference in the game. He finished with 135. He was named Super Bowl MVP. But like you said, there was no there was no touchdown until the fourth quarter. That is when Sam Darnold hit. A. J. Barmer is tied in to make it 19 to nothing. Then in the fourth quarter, you know, the final score would have been a lot worse had it not been for Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. He was credited with three pass deflections. There's one right there. That was a very crucial note. That would have been a huge gainer. And in a tight game, a huge gainer is a big deal. It seemed like he had more pass deflections. He was only credited with three. Had they somehow pulled this off, he could have been easily named Super Bowl MVP. So even though they lost, there were a few bright spots, though, for the Patriots. And they've got they've got Drake May coming back next year. He's only 23 years old, so the future is good for the so. Yeah, I'm looking at hopeful. That's all that matters. Patriots fans had just had a huge dynasty, you know, Super Bowl wins. This could soon be the start of a new one. It just it just wasn't this season. OK, OK, well, there's sure to be another one at some point. We shall see. But let's shift gears to the Olympics. The U.S. finally on the medals board with a pair of golds. Also very exciting, including a thrilling one in the team figure skating competition. Yeah, we had the team figure skating competition taking place over the last three days. And everybody looks loves the figure skating in the Olympics. Now, the team skating competition, you have eight events in all. Now, after seven events, the U.S. and Japan were tied for first. So it all came down to the men's free skate competition. And the U.S. had Illy Ilya Malinin skating for them. Now he's a two time defending world champion. This is his first Olympics. Now he kind of struggled in the short program. I should say struggle. He got second place, which is unheard of for him. Yesterday, though, he was back to his normal self doing in that free skate competition. Five quadruple jumps. Look at that. He's doing the back flip right there at the end. I don't know how he does that. I've never seen anyone skating do that, but he landed it. His signature move. He got first place to the U.S. edged out Japan to win gold. Now, yesterday, we also had a very frightening scene in the women's downhill. U.S. skier Lindsay Vaughn crashed just maybe, what, 10 seconds into her routine there. She clipped the gate. I don't know. She fell head over, yeah, head over feet there. Broke a broken leg. They had to airlift her off of the course. Had surgery yesterday. She is in stable condition. But she had one of the great stories coming into these games. I mean, she was out for she was retired for six years, came back at age 40. So unfortunately for him, her, I'm sorry. Well, it's a kind of a win anyway, regardless of the kind of tragic end. I'm sure she's getting the Olympics was an amazing thing. But unfortunately, it just did not end well for her. Okay. They gathered yesterday for what may be the last time you need help getting around sometimes. And I think it's just time to put it to bed. And then I could see my papers were doing pretty well. And I thought, well, there's a chance I could see them at this final game. It wouldn't feel like the Super Bowl without all of them together. Three friends, all of them in their eighties are the only remaining members of the Never Miss a Super Bowl club. They attended their 60th game yesterday. Don Chrisman from Maine, Tom Henschel from Florida and Gregory Eaton from Michigan have been to every single one since 1967. Chrisman and Henschel say age mobility issues and rising costs means this year is likely their final trip. They've said that before. Eaton plans to keep going as long as he's able. And the Super Bowl wasn't the only game big game yesterday. A few hours before more than 150 puppies gathered to take part in the Puppy Bowl. Puppy Bowl 22 is back underway. Fluff's Apple and Ruff's Clementine battle for possession of the toy. Apple and Clementine. Maybe we should call this the fruit bowl. Just wait until Fluff's strawberry is on the field and it's Apple who gains possession of the toy. Team Ruff and Team Fluff went back and forth in the match, but in the end, Team Fluff won their second consecutive championship, taking home the Tom Lombarki. The final score was Team Fluff 73 and Team Ruff 69. Boba from Team Fluff earned the MVP award Most Valuable Puppy.
