It is Star Wars night here at
Citizens Bank Park if the season
ended today and obviously isn't
the Phillies would be in the
wildcard round where they would
host the New York Mets.
Marano taking the mound for the
Bills both started the year to
it.
Seventy picked up his first win
since May and his last outing is
six point five to E.R.A.
No strikeouts in franchise
history so Aaron can move past
Cole Hamels with a solid night
tonight.
So a single for profile a walk
strike for Matt Olson.
You're looking at danger already
in this first inning.
Too quiet in here right now.
It's very quiet.
Rob Thompson did say after that
sweep last night in New York
that in the clubhouse it felt
like it does in the stadium
right now.
Little tense a little quiet
Baldwin reaches for it and
singles to center profile
weighted a beat.
So he stops it third but the
Braves have them loaded.
Well it's going to lead to an
early mound visit here to talk
with Aaron Nola.
So far Aaron's allowed six runs
in the first inning of games
this year.
The Braves have left with a
golden opportunity.
Bases loaded one out the bat in
the hands of one of their
hottest hitters.
How's he all these.
That messes inside Nola walks
in the first run of the game.
What a professional bat there by
Ozzie can't find it and they are
balls.
I mean these are balls that he's
throwing up there.
Pretty good at bat right there
by all these.
And it brings Michael Harris to
the plate Harris since the
All-Star break has been one of
the hottest hitters in baseball.
Michael Harris lines it to
right Kepler.
It is over his head and off the
wall.
Braves are going to score a
couple here and it is three to
nothing and already some boos at
Citizens Bank Park.
We're only in the first inning
of game one of this four game
set.
That ball was hit so hard I don't
think anybody got a good read on
it.
You didn't know if Kepler was
going to catch it in right if
he was going to get out of the
park and get off the fence ends
up with two runs for the Bravos
there.
Now we're getting into a danger
zone with the number of pitches
that he's thrown in this inning
to absolutely and a call strike
three.
We are the outside corner.
There's our number two first
strikeout of the night.
That'll bring up Nacho Alvarez
where it goes from first pitch
take it outside throw to second
base and here comes Alvarez the
throw to the plate.
He is out at home.
The Braves will look at it and
he's not going to review it.
I'm going to check it.
Well that was huge.
The Phillies give up three runs
in the inning could have been
worse as Scott came in front of
the bag and fired it back home.
And it's two for two out at the
plate a caught stealing Al
Contreau where the Phillies have
seen already this year when he
was with the Marlins.
This is his second start with
the Braves since the Marlins
waved it down over his last 20
over his last twenty two is his
longest stretch in his career.
Last hit was his forty fifth
home run of the year against
Seattle and that one is smoked
deep to right field.
Tom Swarmer is forty six with
the year.
It's his fifth home run in his
last 10 games against the
Braves that will end the drought
Soto shot the Phillies get one
back.
It's three to one to one pitch
was just a hangar and exactly
what Kyle needed.
Tom four hundred fifty feet into
the second deck.
That thing was still going up
when it was the second deck
offensive way base hit where
nobody's standing.
Give that one baby Harper's
hitting streak is up to eleven.
So many times over the last few
years when they've needed a big
home run it seems like Kyle
Schwab is a guy to sort of let
everybody exhale a little bit.
He'll hit one early in a game
and everybody just feels a
little bit better.
That one is blasted to the
second deck rival second deck
home run and J.T. is just tied
this ball game up in the first.
It's a three three game 11th
home run of the season for
Muto.
Dorothy said at best time
there's no place like home.
What a great answer back by the
Philadelphia Phillies right
here.
Runner at first and only one
down in the business of the
mound for Drake Baldwin to go
up there and try to calm down
his pitcher Kyle Guadalupe
Kepler hitting two sixteen but
he's been picking it up of late
that one has hit well deep to
right field and the Phillies have
taken the lead three home runs
here in the first inning.
Kepler's 14th of the year it's
by three Phillies the Phillies
third home run in the first
inning of Montreal and you don't
think they like being back at
home.
My goodness and all three of
these home runs have been no
doubters.
What a turn of events.
Bryce Harper will leave things
off for the Phillies as we go to
the last half of the third
inning.
Phillies leading this one five
to three.
That one's wet deep to right
field Acuna doesn't even move
another second deck home run
towering shots twenty two on the
year for Bryce the fourth home
run so far tonight for the
Phillies and it's six to three
fills four hundred forty two
feet that have gone into the
second deck two and right one
and left.
He had never given up four home
runs in a game until tonight.
Aaron's line so far thirty seven
pitches three earned runs in the
first inning and now he's got a
three run lead to work with and
maybe he can kind of massage
the next few innings.
Swing and a miss.
That's the third strikeout that
moves him into a tie with Cole
Hamels for third most strikeouts
all time in Philly's history.
Come on Aaron get one more so
we can talk some practical
Vader's last seven games ten for
twenty one couple of doubles a
Homer a twelve seventy four OPS
later to center field well
struck going back as Harris back
toward the wall and it's off the
wall and Vader's around second
heading to third he's on his way
and he will get their first
triple of the year for Harrison
Bader.
It's his third extra base hit
against Wachtel in his career
and that ball was absolutely
teed up by the Braves are going
to play the infield in with
Bryson Scott coming up.
Yeah I think they have to.
Can't just let an easy run go
here.
Drive base and it's a right
field.
Bader did slip but it's a coast
home RBI single for Scott.
He had been over his last seven.
It's now seven three bills.
Yes that's what you like right
there.
You know infield then you hit a
hard line drive unless it's
right Adam that they're not
going to catch it.
Eight hits now for the Phillies
seven runs on eight hits line
drive into left field a base hit
that's going to go to the wall.
Scott is blazing around three
bills.
That is going to be all she
wrote for Cal Cuadro.
A tough one here tonight and
Austin Cox is the new pitchers
thirteenth game Phillies with
nine hits already were just in
the fourth inning.
Schwab Rowe homered in the
first.
That one is drilled deep to
right field toward the second
home run of the night.
This one a two run shot.
Forty seven on the.
I think the slump might be over.
Kyle Schwerber with his 18 home
run off a left handed pitcher
which matches the club record
for a left handed batter off
left handed pitching a record
that was set in nineteen
twenty nine.
Real Muto takes his base so back
to back walks here from Austin
Cox two outs ninth man to bat in
this inning is Alec Bohm.
That was it sharply into left
field.
Everybody has a hit Harper will
score real Muto's around third.
He's going to score.
Brokaw couldn't cut it off.
It's at the heads just keep on
coming.
So to the runs and the Phillies
getting a few days worth of
frustrations out here tonight on
this Braves pitching staff
everyone has a hit on here.
Everyone scored a run.
The runners at first and second
that'll be a base hit for Trey
Turner.
So now it's Kyle Schwerber to
the plate.
He has brought these fans to
their feet not once but twice
thirty fifth multi hit game of
the season.
That was the opposite way back.
It's carrying pretty well.
It is good.
It's a three homerun night.
It's his fourth one of his
career.
He decided to go up.
Fifteen three Bills it's a three
run homer.
It's a six RBI night for the
Phillies slugger.
Everybody's standing and
chanting MVP is Kyle Schwerber
heads to the dugout with a huge
night in progress.
Only the fifth inning it's 15 to
three Phillies seventy seven
pitch here for Nola.
Remember he had that rough first
inning over 30 pitches.
But since then he has not given
up a hit just one walk.
And that was to Olsen in the
third inning Olsen deep right
center and that one gets out of
here into the front row a solo
shot and 15 to four down here
the six and Matt Olsen continues
to hit the ball extremely well
in his career at Citizens Bank
Park.
This didn't do very much and
sat in the middle of the play
that Matt Olsen crushes the three
to pitch to Acuna swing and a
miss he got him and Aaron Nola
moves into third place all time
in Philly's history and
strikeouts with that curveball
right there.
One thousand eight hundred
forty five career strikeouts he
slides right past Cole Hamels.
They're going to authenticate
it.
Everybody at Citizens Bank Park
is on their feet as Kyle
Schwerber comes to the plate.
He has gone deep three times
tonight it's the fourth time in
his career he's had a three
home run game he's never hit
four in one game.
Places on their feet and open
for number four.
That one's drill deep to right
field runs and again it's his
fourth home run of the night as
Kyle Schwerber becomes the first
Philly since Michael Jack Schmidt
to hit four homers in a game.
It's a three run home run that
gives him nine runs batted in
tonight the twenty first player
in modern major league history
to hit four homers in a game.
It's a historic moment for
Schwerber in the Philly.
That was cool.
Scott is out number one Sosa
coming up Lowe lines wanted to
left field a base at Kepler will
score the Phillies at another
when it's nineteen to four.
And here comes Kyle Schwerber.
Can he do something that has
never been done before the
pitch to left Eli White now and
White makes the call to catch
Schwerber had taken off the
batting helmet was holding it in
his hand and just kind of a
quick tip to the crowd far and
away the biggest offensive night
of the year for the Phillies.
The one by ball left side should
do it.
Sosa.
Sosa makes the call and makes
the catch in the Phillies win it
Kyle Schwerber is the story
tonight.
He's the story around baseball
tonight.
Phillies scored 19 runs it's the
most since July 1st twenty
twenty three.
