Hi, I'm Linda.
Welcome to my channel, New Age Beauty,
which is all about aging beautifully, mind, body, and spirit.
So I have received many requests
to share my favorite beauty products and treatments
that I feel have made the most difference.
So in today's video,
I'm gonna show you my non-negotiables,
those items I use daily
or whenever I'm gonna venture out into the world.
Most of these I've been using consistently for years.
There are a few more recent discoveries
that replaced old favorites.
And there's one new addition to my beauty routine
that has been a game changer for me.
If these work well for me at 75,
I would think that they would work for just about anybody.
So I'll start with the game changer.
We all know that getting a good night's sleep
is critical to having a healthy life.
We also know that getting our beauty sleep
can help us look and feel better.
It stimulates blood flow,
which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
It helps our body regenerate skin cells
and produce collagen and elastin,
which is the architecture of our skin.
And it helps our skin be plumper, smoother, and more radiant.
But did you realize that you could also be causing wrinkles
to form while you sleep?
I only learned this recently when my dermatologist
told me that I was causing skin folds
and wrinkles on my face by sleeping on my side.
Apparently, I have been sleeping my entire life on my face,
which has been causing wrinkles to form on my forehead,
around my eyes, and in the folds of my cheeks.
I was essentially deforming my skin
for seven to eight hours every night.
Well, she explained that these lines can become permanent
and that Botox, fillers, and good skincare
cannot fix sleep wrinkles.
She said I needed to sleep on my back.
Well, I knew that wasn't gonna work for me.
I tried that many, many times over the years.
Well, I learned there are two kinds of wrinkles,
static and dynamic.
So the dynamic wrinkles are caused by expression lines.
Now, whenever we furrow our brow or smile or squint
or tense up our face,
we get lines under our eyes and our crow's feet,
around our mouth when we smile or frown.
And most dynamic wrinkles are treatable
with injections of neurotoxins like Botox,
which is why it's the number one
cosmetics procedure in the world.
It relaxes the muscles
so they don't cause permanent wrinkles.
Then there are the static wrinkles,
and those are caused by repeated compression or pressure,
and those are not treatable
like the dynamic expression ones are.
So this is what I was doing to my face
every night of my life.
Well, after I woke up and got it,
I knew I wanted to stop it, to stop the harm I was doing.
Over the last few years,
I had seen some skincare and beauty experts on YouTube
talking about a pillow by Sleep & Glow.
So I reached out to the company a while ago
and asked if they would consider
sending me their pillow to try out.
So they sent me the Omnia pillow,
which is for side sleepers.
The Sleep & Glow Omnia pillow has a patented 3D design
that helps fight and prevent future wrinkles
along with the puffiness you get when you wake up
so that you will start the day feeling rested
and looking fresh.
So this is how I sleep on my Sleep & Glow pillow now.
My face remains elevated,
so there's no compression or smooshing of the face
since it fits within the cradle.
It's like floating rather than folding
and compressing my skin.
Well, I decided to try this pillow originally
because of the wrinkle issue, of course,
but I was very concerned
about whether it would work for my neck.
I had been using an orthopedic pillow
since I was in my 40s.
In fact, my neck, I'd had an injury many years ago
and the pain was so bad
that I had to even travel with the pillow
or I couldn't sleep.
So it turns out that their pillows
were actually developed by orthopedists
for optimal spine alignment
to ensure an anatomically correct body position
when you sleep.
So then I was really encouraged
that maybe I could solve the wrinkle problem
while also taking care of my neck.
Well, it turns out that my neck pain has actually decreased
since switching to the Sleep & Glow.
And pillows always take an adjustment period
and I learned I needed to use the extra foam piece
since I do have, I needed a deeper pillow
since I do have bigger shoulders since I do work out.
But the bottom line is that it's worked well
for both my neck and for diminishing the wrinkles.
So it's a win-win for me.
But in addition, it turns out that there's a third benefit.
So I wear lash extensions.
I know most of you already know that about me,
but just in case you didn't.
And this pillow now, that part of your face
doesn't really touch the pillow when you use it
because of the way the cradle is designed.
So I wake up with my lashes also being fully intact.
So it's a triple win for me.
This is by the way,
the only brand that has clinically proven results.
They conducted some clinical research
at a dermatological clinic in Barcelona
and it showed that wrinkles actually decreased
in 87% of patients.
Then within three months,
face wrinkles reduced by more than double.
Nasolabial wrinkles up to 52%.
Vertical forehead lines up to 67%.
And wrinkles around the eyes up to 61%.
So I thought that was pretty impressive data.
If you're interested in learning more,
I have a link in the description box below.
Just click on the more button.
And it's also pinned to the top comment.
The company has given me a discount code
that you can use if you decide to try it out
and they do have a trial period.
Now it is a bit on the pricey side,
but I think of it as preventing damage
and it's far more cost effective to prevent damage
than it is to try and reverse damage.
So now I'm going to show you a variety
of other products and treatments that I do.
That are my non-negotiables.
I have been using red light therapy or LED masks
for about five years now.
I started originally with a different device
and then I recently switched to the Mesama Prana LED mask,
which features 138 medical grade LEDs.
So what sets the Prana apart is its use of pulsed light
that penetrates more deeply into the skin
to enhance the collagen and elastin synthesis
and optimizes the absorption of your skincare products.
So near and near infrared wavelengths
target the mitochondria in our cells.
And that's what increases oxygen consumption
and a boost to production of our ATP.
And ATP is the energy that powers
cell repair and regeneration.
And that results in plumper, more resilient skin.
The mask offers four powerful LED light mode options.
Red for collagen stimulation,
near infrared for deeper healing and regeneration,
plus a combined red and near infrared setting
for anti-aging.
Plus it has magenta, red and blue light combined
to calm inflammation and reduce acne.
And the mask covers your lips as well.
So they are treated at the same time.
As we age, our facial muscles lose tone,
just like the rest of our body.
Microcurrent helps wake those muscles up,
restoring a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Microcurrent is a low level electrical current
that mimics the body's natural bioelectric signals.
It stimulates the muscles and skin cells,
helping to tone, boost circulation,
which improves skin glow.
It promotes collagen and elastin production,
and it helps reduce fine lines and firms the skin.
Additionally, it encourages lymphatic drainage,
and that can reduce puffiness and swelling.
I started using microcurrent about seven years ago
when I purchased a new face.
Then a few years ago, I tried the zip,
which didn't work well for me.
It kept slipping out of my hands.
I don't know if it was a user error or what,
but I just could never get the hang of it.
I gave up pretty quickly.
Then I tried the Foreo Bear 2,
which is a more powerful microcurrent
than any of the others I had tried,
and I experienced better results.
Now I have the facial toner version,
and I also have the mini, which is for travel,
but I don't travel that much,
but I use it all the time anyway,
because I love how it feels.
It has a different vibration than the regular version,
and I love using that around my lips and eyes,
and also up by my sinus area.
And I just purchased the newest one,
which was made specifically for the eyes and lips,
and it uses a different technique
to minimize the lines around your lips and eyes.
So the Bear 2 is clinically proven
to significantly improve deep wrinkles and fine lines,
skin firmness, and elasticity in just a week.
95% of users report their face looks younger
and their cheekbones look more lifted,
and I actually feel that myself.
93% of users report an improvement
in puffiness and sagging.
98% of users report skin looking healthier,
brighter, plumper, and more nourished.
And 90% of users report an improvement
in pigmentation and the appearance of their pores.
It was clinically proven to improve skin firmness by 37%,
and skin elasticity by 62% in just one month.
So I use mine about three times a week,
and the treatments take just two to three minutes.
I do it a little longer, and I do them in the bath.
They're 100% waterproof if I was ever to drop one,
but I never have.
I like to multitask.
I like doing two things at once whenever possible.
And when you do it,
it just feels like a really great facial massage,
so it's soothing and relaxing.
They have an app that walks you through how to use it,
and it has more intensity options,
so you can grow with it, start out low,
and gradually increase the intensity.
And those intensity levels are more
than any other device offers.
And you can also use it without the app.
So if you're looking to lift, firm,
and rejuvenate your face naturally,
I really do recommend trying the FOREO Bear 2.
It's fast, effective, and it's become one
of my favorite tools to support aging beautifully.
Any microcurrent device requires the use
of a conductive gel.
While I didn't love the Zip,
I did love their conductive gel.
It's the gold version that promotes collagen.
And it is pricey, but it lasts a very long time,
and it also serves as a skincare treatment.
Now, FOREO does have their own gel,
and it's about half the price,
and there are many others on the market.
So you can research, any conductive gel will work.
So another challenge for all of us ladies
who are getting older is dry skin on your body,
and on your face, of course, and crepiness.
Now, this product has, I can't say it's gotten rid
of the crepiness, but because it keeps my skin hydrated,
it doesn't have that look of being dry and crepey.
Now, part of that is because I work out,
and I do quite a bit of upper body exercise,
and that automatically is going to thicken your skin
a little bit, it absolutely helps hydrate it
through just giving you additional blood flow,
and muscles actually plump up that area
because they're getting a little bit larger,
and they reshape the area.
And so all of that makes your skin less crepey.
If you look at it on Ulta, you will see
there are 16,677 reviews as of today.
It has 4.7 stars.
That's pretty astonishing.
And a huge tub of it is only $19.
So this product is one of my all-time favorites.
I have been using it for as long as I can remember,
and I am not looking for anything to replace it.
I always curate products,
always looking for new, better products.
But in this case, there's a few things,
a few categories of products I don't even wanna talk about
or think about replacing, and this is one of them.
It has a little bit of coverage in it.
It's a BB cream, Beauty Balm.
It has niacinamide, and it's an SPF 40.
So this is what I wear every day under my makeup
if I'm going out.
And it protects my skin while treating it and soothing it.
And when you put it on, there's just something about it.
It just feels so luxurious and very calming.
So one of the areas that most women have to deal with
is what we call smoker's lines.
Well, they're really expression lines
from a lifetime of talking and smiling and frowning,
and possibly smoking.
So I found one product, only one,
that has helped that area for me.
And it doesn't make it go away,
but it definitely diminishes it.
And it's the Dermalact Smooth Upper Lip Anti-Aging Treatment.
And what you do is every night,
and you can use it during the day as well.
Sometimes I do if I'm sitting at home.
You just put a little on the applicator
and apply it above your lip,
and then just make circular motions to rub it in.
Not to the lips, to the skin above and below the lips.
Just like that.
And I definitely found a smoothing and a soothing.
So this is my go-to lip product.
In addition to, I use a lot of moisturizing products
for my lips as well.
I can't stand when they're dry.
Talk about that another time.
But this is my keeper.
These are my non-negotiables at this time.
So the other thing that I have done
that has, I think, really paid off for me long-term
is exfoliation.
So I started in my late 20s into my late 30s
where I was using prescription Retin-A.
That's really all they had then that I recall.
They didn't have retinols and retinaldehydes
and all the other fancy things that we have now.
So it just got so tired of the irritation.
So I gave up on that.
Now I use retinol products, a variety of different products.
But exfoliation continues to be key,
although I don't want it to tear up my skin.
So one product that I use religiously,
I use a few other products that are more intense
that I might use once a week.
But this I use multiple times a week
to exfoliate gently overnight.
And it is the Dermalect Sleep Serum,
which has won all kinds of awards.
Self-Esteem Beauty Sleep Serum, it's called.
And it's just a lightweight serum, doesn't burn at all.
And in fact, I'm almost out.
So you just put it on your hands
and then dab it onto your skin like any serum.
And then I do that every night, almost every night.
I'd say maybe four nights a week.
So it very gently exfoliates your skin while you sleep.
When you wake up,
and then I always put it on the back of my hands,
which aren't bad for my age.
And I follow it up with the Dermalect Hand Cream
that I love.
That's how I discovered the brand
when I fell in love with their hand cream.
So several of you have asked me
about what I do to care for my neck and chest.
As I mentioned earlier in the video,
red line's been a big part of that.
I've been doing that for several years.
And the other thing I have been doing
is using this cream,
Nectar Firm Advanced by Revision Skin Care
for several years.
And I feel like it really makes a difference.
And all I do is just take a little on my fingers.
There's no fragrance, but it feels very soothing.
And it just makes your skin feel really supple and smooth.
Now I don't spend time baking in the sun.
So obviously that's a big part of it.
But these two things are the only thing I do.
And since you've asked, now you know.
So I'm sure you all have already heard
about BK Beauty brushes.
Well, I have collected good brushes,
again, my entire life, since I was in my 20s.
It used to be that Trish McEvoy made the best brushes
and they were very expensive.
And I would gradually, you know,
years and years ago, save up my money and I'd buy one.
And then I'd buy another and then I'd buy another.
And I ended up having this big suite of them.
But nothing compares to some of the ones
that BK Beauty has made.
Their contour foundation brush is famous
because it deserves to be.
Their 101 brush.
And it's what I'm putting my makeup on with here.
It just does it for you and it makes it flawless.
With any cream product, any kind of liquid product,
it is just magnificent.
And then they did the mini contoured version
foundation brush.
And you can use that in a variety of ways as well,
just for more precise application of foundation.
But I love using that,
which is what I'm doing here in the video.
I love using it for putting on the contour,
cream contour.
And it's just, they're magic.
They're just magic.
Between the right product and the right brush,
it does it for you almost.
So big fans of that.
And then Angie's famous hot and flashy concealer brush.
Again, magnificent.
If you're using a liquid concealer or a light cream,
just goes on beautifully.
Doesn't work for something like the Clos de Peau though.
That's a little too heavy.
It's better off using your finger.
But most of the concealers, it just is perfection.
And they actually sell a kit of three so you can save money.
If you don't have any of those three
and you wanted to get all three,
I think it's like $75, but so worth the money.
And then there's another small angled face brush,
number 112, that I love for putting on the powder blushes
or those hourglass ambient palette blushes.
They're just perfection.
So big fan, obviously.
So the other product that is a non-negotiable
for me is eyelashes.
These are the ones that I wear.
I've gotten so many questions about my eyelashes.
So I have a bad thyroid
and I just have very, very short lashes.
So I've worn artificial lashes since I was in my twenties
when I modeled.
And then I switched to those individual ones.
And then I started getting professional extensions
that just was expensive and they burned.
And anyway, I hated doing it.
So during COVID, I took that opportunity
to experiment and that's when I discovered lash clusters
that you put on under your own lashes.
They're actually very easy once you get used to it.
So this week, I'm gonna do a video
that I'll post next week, all about eyes.
And we'll talk about lashes in depth
and it will also demonstrate some natural eye makeup looks
in addition to very glamorous.
So hopefully that'll be fun.
So there's a link in the description box
of all of the products we've talked about here.
And one of the links takes you to a shop my page
that I wanna show you because what it does
is it has every single thing I've talked about here linked.
So you can quickly just scroll down, click into it,
read about it on the website,
decide if you have any interest in purchasing it,
but very easy to shop.
There are also the individual links are there as well.
And then YouTube has its YouTube shopping.
So it automatically picks some of the products up
and it'll have a scrolling bar with some of them,
but it doesn't pick up everything.
So thanks for joining me today.
I hope you'll consider leaving me a like
if you enjoyed the content.
And comment if you have used any of these products
or you have any other ones to recommend
so we can share the beauty in all of us.
So here's some additional videos I've done
that you might find interesting
along the same lines as this one.
And I wish you a beautiful day.
