Escape the city and come with me as I set up camp alone in the Australian bush. From transforming a bare campsite into a cozy outdoor home to sharing why solo van life brings me peace, creativity, and freedom, this vlog captures the real magic of life on the road as a solo female traveler. 🌿🚐
Well all of that took about an hour and that was with me filming too. So I had my drone out,
I had to keep moving my GoPro around, so it'd probably take a lot less time normally.
But yeah, they're all the things that I like to do just to make the campsite feel like home for
a while. So when you're on the road you sort of lose that sense of stability, so it creates that
space that feels like me. And it creates, it feels like a bit of a safe zone, you know,
because it's kind of, it's funky, it's my vibe, it's kind of having a home outside in the bush.
And I love it, it just makes me feel really happy, putting my Buddhas out and my plant out
and my hammock. Yeah, it makes me really happy. And so I've spent a lot of time recently in Perth
and I've just, obviously it was the Christmas and New Year break and I had a bit of time off
work too, so I spent a lot of time with family. I did that wall mural for my best friend's kids
playroom, which was so much fun. And I have to admit, ever since, all I've wanted to do is just
do another one. I just want to do these big brushstrokes everywhere, so it might be my new
calling. But yeah, it was so much fun hanging out with all of them. I've spent a lot of time with my
daughter. I spent a week just recently with my family down in Dunsborough because they go away
every year. And my 12-year-old nephew, he was out on the sup with me heaps and he did lots of
filming for me as well, which was really cool. And my niece, who just turned 15, she cut my hair for
me, so it was cool. Just had to cut off all the dead ends, you know, during summer. I spend so
much time in the water that it just kills the end of my hair. I'm just about to have a car drive past.
Oh, they're behind me. It's all right. I get a bit funny about people seeing me talking to a camera
and they won't be able to see the camera, so they'll think I'm talking to myself.
Anyway, so yeah, I've loved spending time with the family, but I do spending time in Perth,
in the city. I'm not connected to my trees. When I come down here, that's where my smile
emerges because I just feel connected to everything. I can't quite explain it. It
just makes me feel happy and calm and at peace, you know. So yeah, I've come down here and set
up campsite. And look, I actually have to head into town tomorrow because I've got to post an
order. So I may not leave everything out here when I do go into town. Plus, it's actually going
to get really hot down here as well. So I think it's going to be about 35 degrees. And when you're
in the bush, that can be a bit sticky and uncomfortable. So I may spend the day just
down at the ocean and then come back here when it gets a bit cooler, depending on what the wind's
doing. But I also have, I've got work again tomorrow and back at work, and I know it's going
to be nuts. And so when I come to these places, it just gives me that space to focus on work,
focus on the things I'm passionate about. So when I'm in the city, I kind of get distracted by
catching up with people or, you know, snorkeling and that kind of thing. And so I've actually
really missed just doing YouTube videos. Like I love, I love filming and editing. But also with
work, because it is going to be so busy tomorrow, I can get a bit overwhelmed when I've got a lot
of tasks to do, you know, on my list. And I know it's going to be like that tomorrow. And so if I
can get rid of all the other distractions and just focus on that, that'll make me feel a bit calmer
and better. So I'll probably get cracking on that pretty early in the morning, just while it's still
cool here in the bush. And then I can sort of head, you know, into town or into the ocean
about lunchtime and spend an hour in the air for lunch. And yeah, and then maybe come back later
in the evening. But that's, that's the joy of van life, right? You know, you just get to
go do things at a whim, you know, you go with what the weather's going to provide what what's
going on in your life at the time, you know, I have that, that joy of being able to spend time
with family, but also coming here when I need to, and just, just escaping the world for a while.
And I think I suppose that's what people's homes are for, you know, like they go back to their home
at the end of the day, and that's their safe space and the place they can rest and focus and regroup.
And so this is that for me. And I think, I think that, you know, why, if you look at life a little
bit differently, why can't we just have a campsite as our home, you know, like it's it is a temporary
home, but that's how I love to live my life. I love living like a gypsy, like, oh, it's in my bones.
So anyway, that's my chat for today. I hope you've enjoyed watching me set up campsite.
Yeah, probably be a bit different during winter, maybe I might get a fire going, but there is a
total fire ban here at the moment. So yeah. Now I'm going to sit here in my hammock and I'm going
to have a chocolate covered snake from the Market River Chocolate Factory.
But they arguably were stalemates.
One thing I regret, it was stealing all those cedars, removing Humbaba's head, but it was fun.
Run the roads, reckless abandon, fighting with the sun, taking back the trophies
to cities that were wrong.
