Make a FREE Resume with CANVA ChatGPT TIPS to GET THAT JOB in 2024

Canva can be used for so many things. And on this channel, we talk about a lot of the free things that Canva can do. We are going to jump into something that is truly amazing and has changed the game for not only me, but so many people in my circle and in my family. It is the Canva resume. Yes, folks. Not only can you create websites, logos, presentations, Instagram, TikTok, all those kind of social media posts, posters, birthday cards and more. Resumes. Let's talk about resumes. They make the best resumes. They have templates, OK? So one of the things that Canva has are amazing templates. And I love to look at the different templates on the side here because the different templates that Canva has are a really good starting point. And when you're dealing with Canva and you're looking at different templates, the minute you click on a template, it will go into the actual document page. If you don't want to sort of, you know, undo this, create a new page by adding a page. I'm going to go ahead and add a page. And I'm going to go back and look at a few more templates and kind of compare. What I love about Canva, too, is that they put everything in the font like a nice font kind of category. They really match up the fonts nicely. They give you nice sections. If you're looking for a specific job that highlights skills more than, say, you know, specific things like an about me section, you can go ahead and do that. And you can actually take a little bit from one and go to another. So some of these resumes are amazing as far as a starting point. If you are looking for more specifics on the actual description, I'm going to get into a little bit about ChatGPT and how that can truly help you with maybe any kind of writer's block or creator block that you might have when it comes to creating a description. I'm going to keep going. Let's see, because we want to compare some of the different some of the different templates. They have ones with pictures. They have ones with different colors. A great thing you can do is you can actually search. So say, for example, you can search for maybe if you're looking for a tech job, for a tech resume, and it actually will narrow it down according to the type of job you're looking for. So here is a tech resume. This is a Canva Pro. So anything with a little crown there is going to be Canva Pro. I do have a Canva Pro account. You'll see up here, this is TriPro for 30 days. I have two accounts, one with Canva and one just for these videos. So I can show you what a non Canva Pro account looks like. If you do want to try Canva Pro, use the link below. Go ahead and sign up. You'll get 30 days for free, and it's amazing. I'm pretty sure you might actually just go ahead. And I don't I'm telling you, I I don't work for Canva or anything like that, but I'm pretty sure you'll probably upgrade at some point because there's so many great, great tools that it just comes with. So here are some tech resume ideas. And then one thing I also like to look for is, say, if you want like an academic, you can actually just put in, I put an academic CV or even a CV, and it will show you more of those type of resumes. And it even shows you resource pages and it gives you a really good starting point. So if you're looking for a certain type of resume, go ahead and use the search feature. And then if you like something from one resume or maybe some, I like these little icons, use that from one resume and kind of copy and paste from others. And this is how you do it. So you just go ahead and highlight with Canva. It's super easy. You can group and go ahead and copy and paste it, say, to another website or another resume if you'd like. But you can also ungroup. So just go ahead and ungroup it and you can go ahead and, you know, take one piece at a time. So if you just like this particular icon, go ahead and take that and copy and paste it. If you like this font, you can go ahead and figure out the name. It's called the Jora Script. It's super awesome because you're able to kind of pick and choose and take things accordingly and really get a good starting point. One thing that you do want to keep in mind when it does come to exporting your resume, most employers are looking for a PDF file. So I'm just go ahead and I'm going to get rid of some of these and show you how to save a Canva resume into the template that most employers are looking for, which is a PDF. So you can go ahead and hit share. And then you're going to go ahead to download. Once you hit download, you want to change this to PDF standard. It says best for documents and emailing. This is the PDF that you want to use if you are uploading a document to a website portal or a job hunt. You want to use that. So you go ahead and hit that and then it will go ahead, save it. And then you have your PDF. It automatically does that for you. One other thing that I would like to share is chat GPT. If you're looking for, say, work experience, you know, maybe some new verbs that you want. If you're looking to kind of hone in on some of your your typing and your text, you can go ahead and use chat GPT. So for something like if we go back to this particular, this particular resume, if this person was a product design manager, you might want to just put in a few sentences describing what you did, and it will give you a little bit more. Let me show you. Obviously, this isn't a job that I have had, and I just put in a very simple prompt. But what I like about chat GPT is it's going to give you a little bit of more of a direction and maybe even get your brain going. And get your thought process going for some different types of words that maybe you wouldn't have thought about using. Chat GPT is free. And you can go ahead and use it, just download it or use it on your computer. And once you have it, you can go ahead and copy and then paste it right into what you're working in in Canva. You can either post paste it right in here or you can open up a new text box and then just go ahead and edit from there. Go ahead and make this a little bit smaller. And the great thing about Canva, especially Canva text box, you can you can treat this just like a Word document, and you can go ahead and make things centered left, right, et cetera. Keep in mind, everything that you copy will have asterisks and you will need to reformat a little bit about that. But it does give you a starting point, and it's really a great tool to be able to kind of get you away from that writer's block and give you more creativity. One quick note of mention. Many job recruiters are using artificial intelligence to screen resumes. So one important thing to do is to continually update your resume according to job descriptions that you are qualified for. Even if you are qualified, you may be excluded based on not having keywords and various different pieces from a job description that are included in that specific job description. Great thing about Canva is that you can copy and duplicate a resume and retitle it. So if this is for, say, a company called Google, this could be a resume for a company called Yahoo. So you can go ahead and save just that particular page. Say we want to just apply to Yahoo. We go ahead and we hit Yahoo, done, and we download only that one. Great thing about Canva is you can keep it all in one place. It saves all of your work. And again, you have different resumes in one document. You don't have to reinvent the wheel. You don't have to copy and paste. You don't have to redo the document. You just basically look at your job description and add in specific keywords so that you are going to the next step of that interview. That is how I and so many people I know and have worked with use Canva for resumes. It's such a great free resource. Again, if you have Canva Pro, even better. You get access to more text.
