DIY Papier-Mâché Vase from a Plastic Bottle
Transform your trash into stunning home decor with this easy DIY egg carton papier-mâché vase tutorial. Learn how to upcycle plastic bottles and recycle egg trays into an aesthetic textured vase for a budget-friendly and sustainable lifestyle.
In this video, I’ll show you how to create a high-end designer vase from scratch!
To make this vase, I used:
3 large egg trays
A plastic bottle
300-350 ml of white PVA glue
Acrylic paints
The Process:
I soaked the egg cartons in hot water for several hours until soft.
Then, I used a blender to grind them into a smooth pulp.
After squeezing out the excess water, I mixed the pulp with about 300-350 ml of PVA glue to create a "paper clay."
I cut a plastic bottle to my desired height and covered it with the papier-mâché mass.
Drying time: It took about 24 hours on a radiator. Note: without a heater, it can take 5+ days to dry completely.
Finally, I painted the vase with acrylics.
Pro-tip: Since there is a plastic bottle inside, this vase is fully functional — you can safely add water and fresh flowers!
