Harlaxton Manor is a Victorian country house in Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, England. The house was built for Gregory Gregory, a local guard and businessman.
Join me as I take you around Harlaxton Manor to see their Christmas decorations. This former 14th century hunting lodge was transformed to the magnificent manor we see today in the early 1800's and today is home to the International Studies Centre of the University of Evansville from Indiana who are now the owners of Harlaxton Manor.
Good morning everybody, welcome back to another episode. Today we are at Harlaxton Manor in the
county of Lincolnshire. It's a gorgeous old manor house, originally dating to the 14th century.
It was the former hunting lodge of John of Gaunt, who was the son of King Edward III.
Today the house that we see dates back to 1831 and that was sort of all redone by Gregory Gregory
who inherited the property in 1822. So nothing of the 14th century old original manor house survives
but yeah the house we see today is gorgeous and it is now currently in the ownership of the
University of Evansville over in the US and it is the home of their International Studies Centre.
It's really really pretty and we're here to see the Christmas display so let's go
and pop inside and have a look. So pretty isn't it Addy? Really pretty.
All right let's go inside.
It's beauty, so ornate. Oh and the beautiful Christmas tree in front.
What an ornate gem, absolutely stunning.
To say this was built in the 1800s it almost looks Elizabethan to me.
Wow look at the great hall, this is incredible. So beautiful all these Christmas trees.
How dreamy, look at this.
How ornate this ceiling is. Wow I love all the cherubs.
Every detail is so pretty.
He's getting some photos.
A little Narnia lamppost, like in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Cute. Oh so sweet.
Merry Christmas everyone.
I've got an elf in the fireplace, oh no.
We've got the Grinch tree, this looks so cool.
Yeah Grinch's legs poking out the top.
And a poor little elf in the fireplace.
He does look happy about it, he's got a big smile on his face.
Another incredibly ornate ceiling, this is amazing.
And another massive fireplace, this will be so nice when they're all lit up.
What a beautiful conservatory, nice place to sit, have a drink.
How fantastic is this, what an incredible place to come to university.
I can't imagine going to uni somewhere this beautiful.
I think they've got 300 acres of land as well, so you can explore all the gardens.
What lucky pupils.
Well I really hope that you have enjoyed this wonder around Harlaxton Manor with me and Heidi.
We've really enjoyed seeing it all decorated for Christmas and what an incredible place
to come for university, honestly.
Right, I will see you again very soon. Lots of love.
