When I visit Tokyo's shrines, I'm often surprised by the sacred spaces that have been protected by the people.
Floods, fires, earthquakes, war damage, and materialism.
Small shrines, shrines on the rooftops of buildings, shrines directly under highways.
Sacred spaces that support people in all forms, and the guardians who protect them.
I made this video to share these beautiful images.
Japanese landscapes and people of the past, captured in old photographs.
There is a Japan that seems likely to be forgotten. I truly do not want to forget this forgotten Japan.
The photographs are around 100 years old, with some dating back 150 years and even 85 years.
Please feel a connection with the people of the past.
