Hi, I'm Mac and I'm a career expert at zeddy.com.
Today, I'm going to show you how to write a job-winning cover letter in 8 simple steps.
You might be thinking, are cover letters really necessary?
Well, you'd be surprised to find out that up to 50%
of the recruiters are actually interested in reading a cover letter from you.
Regardless of the results of such research,
it's always better to have a cover letter handy.
Cover letters consist of several different parts,
each of which serves a different function.
We at zeddy.com identified 8 that will show you how to write.
The first section of your cover letter is called the heading.
This is where you put your name, your job title,
and the contact details of the person you're addressing your cover letter to.
The second section of the cover letter is called a salutation.
Just keep it short and simple.
Something along the lines of Dear Mr. Smith will do.
If you don't know the name of the person that you're addressing your cover letter to,
a simple Dear Hiring Manager will do the job as well.
Now, let's move on to the next section of the cover letter.
It's the first paragraph.
The first paragraph of a cover letter is extremely important
because it's supposed to hook the reader and get them interested in what you have to offer.
In the next paragraph of your cover letter,
explain to the reader why you are a perfect fit for the position you're applying to.
It's a nice idea to plug in a couple of your key achievements.
They will demonstrate your real-life value and show what results you're able to achieve.
Then, in the next paragraph, explain why you're a great fit for the company
and why the company is a great fit for you.
The closing paragraph of your cover letter comes next.
This is where you sum up everything that came before in a nice sentence
and ask the recruiter to meet you in person.
Then comes the formal closing.
Keep it simple.
Something along the lines of Best Regards or You Sincerely Will Do.
The very last section of your cover letter is called the postscript.
The postscript is where you can mention one additional achievement of yours
to impress the reader even more.
So, as you see, writing a cover letter doesn't have to be that complicated
