And I was like, I'm going to have to walk out of this bathroom stall and see these people.
Guys, good to see you both again. Thank you for taking the time. I appreciate you.
Thank you.
Yeah, I'm going to jump into this because I got a thousand questions for you. Scarlett,
you have a really hilarious moment in the film where a fan of yours says,
I really love this movie that you're in. I don't know why more people don't like it.
Which so with that idea in mind, what is for each of you guys,
the strangest thing a fan or a stranger on the street has ever said to each of you?
Um, I was in a, uh, like a restaurant bathroom one time and I walked in, there was nobody in the
bathroom and I walked into the stall and then a couple of women came in after me and started
talking about how short I was in person. Um, and I was like, I'm going to have to
walk out of this bathroom stall and see these people. And it was so awful. I, I just said,
you know, I came out and I was like, I, I am shorter than anybody. They were so mortified.
I felt awful, but I was like, here I am. And I'm also, yeah, you're right. I'm kind of short.
It was just all very straight, but they had like a whole conversation about it while I was.
Oh my goodness.
Oh my God.
That was strange.
Oh my God.
Crazy.
Jason, anything?
One time I was on an airplane and, um, I, uh, was backing up and I hit some, uh,
drink onto someone's, uh, pants and go, Oh, before the flight had taken, Oh, look at me.
Now I gotta be all wet. And he was really grumpy. And then these people behind us were like,
that's Anthony Kiedis from the ranch chili peppers. He just knocked that all over that
guy, Anthony Kiedis. And I, and I was like, dodged a bullet on that one.
Reputation never recovered.
One last, one last album sold right there. But yeah, I, I liked, um, I, but I wasn't sure if
I was supposed to say with all due respect to Anthony, it's not him. I'm someone else.
I didn't, I, I, I really just like, yeah.
And he is still grumpy about that to this day. Um, you know, uh, Scarlett,
Wes Anderson obviously has a long history of working with the same actors time and time again.
So I want to talk about the pressure, not of landing the first movie,
but the second, because you don't want to be the one actor he doesn't use again.
So how much pressure is there not to land your first Wes Anderson movie,
but to land your second one?
The pressure is immense. No, um, I'm always very thankful and surprised if anybody calls me
for work, but particularly if it's the same person, um, you know, I have no expectations at
all. I do the work that I do in that moment. And then I hope that if it's a good opportunity,
you know, a good experience, I'll have another opportunity to work, you know, collaborate with
that director again, or those filmmakers again. And, and that's it. So I was very, I always assume
I'm not going to get another job with somebody. And then when I do, it's a humongous surprise.
So I was very surprised when I got the script, it came at
a wonderful time and I was not expecting it. So that was exciting.
Well, we're all the better for it. I'm going to end you guys on, on a bit of a nerdy question,
if you don't mind, because there are a handful of directors out there who say that their films
exist in the same universe. I think of Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith. I was wondering if
you guys think it is at all possible that all of Wes Anderson's movies exist in the same universe.
And if so, which past great Wes Anderson character would you love for your Asteroid
City character to meet? You know, I don't know about same universe,
but I did hear Wes say one time that, you know, he said something like that he would like,
you know, his movies, if they were on DVD or to be a little collection, like he likes, I mean,
that, that they go together. What's wrong with that? That there's a kind of, they're not the
same universe, but that they're of, there's a quality to them that he's like, I can't do
anything about it. So there is a kind of like, it is the same kind of, but I think they're all,
they're all different. I would have loved, I would spend more time with Midge Campbell,
who's her character in the movie. Yeah. Or Steve Zissou. One of those two.
Yeah. I think Midge would probably, maybe meet Gwyneth's Tenenbaum character. I think she would
have played her very well. It would have been a good character study for her. Oh my God. That's
gold. Jason, I don't know if you know this, there's a fun fan theory that Max from Rushmore
has written all of these movies that after he went on in life, these are the movies that he
ended up writing, which I think is a sort of a fun sort of fan theory. Guys, seriously, thank you
both so much for taking the time. I always love chatting with you and you guys are fantastic. I
appreciate you taking the time. 312. Keep going, we don't need roads.
