What a special moment it's going to be inside
Snapdragon Stadium today as Alex Morgan
will have her jersey retired.
The iconic number 13 by the San Diego
Wave and what a career she had.
Let's first start with her major
accomplishments with the wave in 2022.
She won the NWSL Golden Boot for
most goals of the season,
15 goals in 17 games,
and she also helped this team
win the NWSL Shield for the best
regular season record, really helping
out this club in its infant stages.
It's first years she set the tone for
success by helping this club find
immediate success as a club and then
her international career is the one
that everyone internationally knows about.
She won two FIFA World Cup championships.
She was an Olympic gold medalist,
an Olympic bronze medalist.
She also has the 5th most goals in U.S.
Women's national team history
at the international level.
What a career she has had.
She's now a minority investor
with the San Diego Wave.
We also got to catch up with her before
the match on how she's feeling.
Kind of had to just like take a moment
and take a deep breath and just like
enjoy it because I feel like these
moments don't you know these really
high moments don't come anymore as
often now that I'm not, you know,
playing actively so I get to live
a curiously through the team
and their success.
So having this moment is really
special and having my family next
to me makes it even more special.
The last time I've spoken in front of
that many people was a year ago when
I retired and stepped off the field,
so it's definitely going to
bring back a lot of emotion.
I am not pregnant though,
so I don't think I'll have those hormones,
but it's just going to be a great moment.
Will have a full report after this
match on everything that Alex Morgan
had to say on this special moment for the go.
