What's up guys, welcome back to another video. Today I'm in Nelson and we're filming another
episode of Brady's Take on Trails. Today we're going to be riding Hotbox which has just been
rebuilt and I've not ridden it since so I'm really looking forward to riding it. There's a good
mixture of tech and flow so I hope you enjoy watching. Okay here we have the first section
of line choice. We've got a low line and a high line. The low line then goes into a wide line
coming into a left-hander whereas the high line puts you low and squares you up into the corner.
So two options. The high line is probably quicker to enter but the low line is probably quicker to
exit. I'm going to do the high line just because I think it's a bit more fun. So this is the bottom
of the section. We've got the high line which comes into the inside line and we have the low
line which comes into the wide entrance to this turn and you carry much more extra speed with that
wide line but this inside line is pretty fun too because you can just drift around it.
Okay here we have kind of a classic Nelson turn which a lot of people can struggle with a little
bit. Mainly because the exit is quite flat and quite tight and it's easy to get drawn into just
going low coming in and that tightens the corner up even more and makes you have to turn where the
corner's the worst. But what I try and do when I'm riding on these sorts of corners is try and set up
as wide as possible to open up the turn and get the turning done as early as possible so that you
can just carry speed through that flat section where you're normally trying to turn if you go
low. On this corner there's a couple of chunky routes up on this high section which can make it
even harder. I'm going to try and do an extreme version of setting up high and you can pretty
much come right up almost gap over these routes and land right up here and then you've done most
of your turning by the time you're up here you can just roll out.
Okay here's another section where there's a little bit of line choice.
I just rode the main line which pushes you into this awkward tight corner but just back up there
there's a little high line you can do which sets you up and allows you to take this
nice straighter line through the middle of this section so I'll just try that now and see how it
goes. We've got another classic turn with a pretty flat exit on it which is quite tight
so on this section I'm actually going to try another little sneaky high line
come up on this nice smooth bank here and then drop into the corner at the last minute
that's just going to like open up the arc of the turn and allow me to carry a bit more
speed out of the exit and just ride it a bit more smoothly. Here we have yet another example of
quite a challenging corner and it's been made harder by people skidding down the inside
you've got this bit of a ledge here separating the like main line to the optional kind of like
high setup so I'm going to try and do this high line and I feel like that's the way to make this
corner ride the nicest but it is quite committing so yeah a bit challenging but we'll give it a go.
So I'm just having a little look at this section
and spotted a potential gap so I'm just going to test it and see if it works.
Yeah so that that gap was actually quite smooth quite happy with how that went
um yeah I'd recommend giving it a go thumbs up.
This is the single track sisters A line as you can see from this pretty cool sign someone's put
a lot of effort into that so obviously we have the A line that I've just talked about which
actually is I'd say the best line because it sets you up really well into that corner at the end
uh it's also pretty direct so that's good but we also have a couple other lines we've got
midline here and there's a low line which starts way back there and just stays low all the way to
the corner so few options. It's pretty off camber so I think I might just pull up. All right that's
it for the video I hope you enjoyed the line breakdowns hope you found them helpful don't
forget to subscribe the more subscribers I get on this channel the more I'll be able to do videos
like this so yeah don't forget to click subscribe and I'll see you in the next video. Cheers!
