Danny loves pizza. I love pizza.
And we adapt to eating pizza every day.
Joining this band treats me like a little baby.
It makes me happy.
I'm not going to open it all the way.
Stuff is probably going to fall out.
But this is where we keep all of our...
I'm Danny McCool.
I'm James Arwell.
And we are two members of Mello.
And we're on tour with a lot like Birds and Dwellings and Zetta.
And we're very excited about it.
We just released our very first album a few days ago.
So we're supporting that for this run.
And it's good fun.
Or so I've been told.
That's what I believe it's called.
They tell me.
We forget.
We don't know anything.
We're really tired.
It's been quite the tour.
But yeah.
Hell yeah.
We're going to show you around the band today.
Come inside.
Come look at what we have.
Yes, let's get going.
So yeah.
We got Lucas over here in the driver's seat.
He's our drummer.
And official not nighttime driver.
Yeah, we all take turns driving.
We're pretty even with it.
Try to be even with it.
Yeah.
We all just kind of, whoever's the least tired,
we'll just take a shift and go as long as they can.
And then we'll switch.
We're pretty easy going about it.
We don't have any rules or regulations.
We just kind of take it day by day.
And whoever's most up for it will do it.
We found it's more fun if you call it the commander's chair.
Yes.
Because this is the Death Star.
And if you're in command of the Death Star,
it's way cooler than being in command of the shitty Mello bus.
But yeah.
I'm usually here.
We have unofficial, official assigned seating.
I'm always here.
Or I'm driving.
But I'm always here.
And he is always all the way in the back.
We have a futon.
We'll get to that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's usually sleeping in the futon.
Yeah, but I'm always here.
It's usually me and James up here, and we're bullshitting.
And yeah.
And it's really dirty, and don't mind that.
Ignore it.
It's not there.
Yeah, so playlist-wise, it's usually just whoever's in the driver's seat
will put it on as loud as possible usually
so we can drown out our thoughts about the road and stuff.
But it's good fun.
Do you want to tell them what each of us kind of listen to?
Yeah, so when I'm up there, I'm usually putting on, like,
Opeth or Dream Theater.
Sometimes I'll go crazy.
I'll put on some, like, R&B.
D'Angelo just died today.
R.I.P.
Or yesterday, actually.
So R.I.P.
I've been playing a lot of D'Angelo in memoriam of him.
Rest in peace.
Yeah.
What about you, sir?
Video game soundtracks.
Aurora.
Bring Me the Horizon.
System of a Down.
Aurora.
Movie soundtracks, anime openings.
Aurora.
I really like Aurora.
And that's pretty much it.
You go.
Sometimes I honestly love driving in silence.
He does.
Because we're just playing music all the dang time now.
I get a little music-ed out.
But lately I've been playing The Contortionist.
Oh, yeah.
When I do feel like listening to something.
Those are great peeps.
Leo.
What do you listen to when you're in command of the Death Star?
What do you listen to?
It really depends.
For the most part I'll do J-Rock.
I love J-Rock.
Anime openings is the ----.
That's my dog.
Or I'll do a lot of emo ----.
My Chem.
The Sound of Animals Fighting.
And The Fall of Troy.
So the most important decorum of our bus is our used pizza boxes that are usually in the bus.
Because Danny loves pizza.
I love pizza.
And we adapt to eating pizza every day.
Yeah.
It's not good.
I have two foods that I eat every ******* day.
I eat a healthy breakfast every day.
And then the rest of the day is bad.
The whole time.
It's bad the whole time.
And this neck pillow, I've used it one time.
I'm a piece of ----.
And this is my wallet.
This is my banana.
And yeah, I don't eat good.
I get bored on tour a lot when I'm not driving.
And fun fact, I've done the least driving on this tour.
I've driven like twice.
And it's because I lost my license the first two days of the tour.
And so I've had a lot of free time.
And I just drowned it out in M&M's and bananas.
And poppy.
It's like a probiotic soda.
We can't forget this.
Oh, this is a staple.
This keeps Danny alive.
So this is my generator.
For those who don't know, I have autoimmune disease.
So I have to keep my medications refrigerated.
So I have this generator that doesn't ever charge good.
But I also have this little mini fridge.
So I can keep it right in there so I don't die.
And that's ******* fun, you know?
So not dying on tour is very important.
It happens often.
Not literal death.
Like emotional.
Like spiritual death.
That's why we call it the Death Star.
Another fun fact.
Not to keep riffing in this one area.
But Reece from A Lot Like Birds,
the first time we ever told him we were going on tour,
he said, and I quote,
Wow, I can't wait to watch the life leave your eyes.
And we got really excited.
And he was right.
It took damn quick for that to happen.
Oh, there's so much life in my eyes.
More pizza.
Loose shoes.
Grandma's cookies.
These are not drugs.
They are grandma's.
I promise.
They are cookies.
It's just carbs and sugar.
Which is also carbs.
So just lots of carbs.
Back to the assigned seating.
So I am always up here.
James and I are usually up here.
But if one of us,
if both of us coincidentally aren't driving,
James is usually here or I'm here.
But this whole row,
our merch girl,
my lovely baby sister,
Taya,
runs our merch.
She gets this whole row to herself
because she's a little princess and that's how it is.
And we try to make sure that she's accommodated for it
because she's doing a big solid.
And bands need to take care of their merch people.
Exactly.
Taya, she's usually sleeping to be honest.
But when she's not sleeping,
she's always playing on this.
She's always playing Animal Crossing
100% of the time forever.
Or she's sleeping.
I'm not going to lie.
That's pretty much all she does.
She sleeps and plays Animal Crossing.
That's her little get up.
Usually she'll have like a makeshift bed.
She'll like set that,
honestly she'll set the blanket up as a pillow.
Put it on top of the pillow
and like sleep in a weird diagonal position.
But she does it like every ******* day.
And if you're ever wondering what is Taya's,
our merch girl,
it's pink.
And if it's pink, it's hers.
And if it's not pink, it's not hers.
Yeah, she loves pink.
And that's her assigned seat.
Sometimes I share it with her,
but usually it's her.
And then Leo,
this is his assigned seat right there.
That's where he always is.
This is where I nap.
This is where I do many, many things.
Listen to my music,
play my DS.
Right now I'm trying to finish Mario 3,
Mario Bros 3, Game Boy.
I try to hit it every now and then.
I'm really like not that into it yet,
but we're getting there.
You're warming up to it.
You'll get it, dude.
And here we have my,
the medication I was talking about,
my sharps disposal,
which is not very full
because I did it before the tour
and I've only had three injections so far.
That's our biohazard box.
Oh yeah, we also have,
where the hell is it?
We, so we're recording and writing
while on tour whenever we can,
our next album.
And we do have my vocal mic
that I use to track all of our first album,
or so I've been told.
Here is the preamp for that,
said mic.
Yeah, it's a Warm Audio 47, I believe.
57, one of those two.
But yeah,
we were trying to do multiple things
while on the road,
but it's really hard
because it's really exhausting
and touring's really hard
and you never stop.
We've had like two hours total
to be able to work on music so far.
Honestly.
But the album's coming out great.
Check it out when it comes out,
you know?
Oh yeah.
But honestly,
everything else up here,
aside from that mic and my disposables,
it's like just literally like shoes.
Loose shoes and stuff
that we need to sweep still.
Yeah, to be honest, yeah.
And oh wait,
nope, that's nothing.
That's just ******* batteries.
All right.
And this fancy door
swings open halfway
and we got a little special button here
that goes,
whoo!
That's my favorite button.
This is the best thing we own.
It's my favorite button.
It's so nice for loading stuff in,
especially because of this trailer
because it's like,
if it doesn't do that,
we have to just like squeeze through.
Here's Luke's assigned seat.
Yeah.
Normally all of these suitcases
are stored in our trailer.
But we got a nice little futon.
Yep.
And under that is our futon
that we all take turns sleeping on.
We take turns.
I actually haven't slept in the futon once so far,
but everyone in this band knows
I could sleep,
I have slept on the concrete.
I don't care.
Yeah.
When I'm tired,
I sleep in the concrete.
I sleep,
me and Luke fall asleep next to each other,
not in the futon,
up front every night.
We want,
they spoon.
We want,
we set up,
we usually eat drunk food after a show.
We set up on the front dash.
We'll set up YOLO or Rick and Morty
and we'll just fall asleep.
And then we wake up
and our merch girl's like,
come on,
you got to go sign ----,
run.
But yeah,
no,
this is where Luke usually is.
He's usually chilling back here.
At most,
it's way more tidy usually,
but you know,
we got to play a show
and we hassle to get dressed
and,
you know,
got teeth brushed
and all that good stuff.
But yeah,
that's,
this is the living quarters.
This is the five star hotel
that is our Ford Transit.
And then right on this other door,
I'm not going to open it all the way
or stuff is probably going to fall out.
But this is where we keep all of our,
what did I say?
It lasted a second.
This is our immune support little baggy.
Yeah.
Plus we have some,
we fear getting sick on tour a lot.
I don't know what the hell this is,
but we got it.
Oh,
it's Leo's.
This is the amp Leo uses to like practice with.
It's like portable.
It's loud ish,
but it ain't like,
you know,
you can play it quiet.
And this is the trash bags
that we need to use more of.
Yeah.
No,
honestly,
seriously,
for sure.
Oh my God.
Multivitams.
Oh yeah.
We're going to do a round of multivitams here real quick.
Yeah.
I totally forgot about these.
Take your vitamins.
Kids.
Yeah.
Seriously.
Yeah.
We got this fear of getting sick
because I fun fact,
first tour ever.
I was sick.
Oh,
whoops.
Thanks James.
First tour I ever did with hail the sun.
I was sick the entire time.
The whole time we're keeping out.
We're keeping ahead on that this time.
No,
this is the living quarters.
Yeah.
Ours,
We did buy we got this everything. Luckily where we got a good deal. Everything's used new on our car and trailer
I actually fucked my finger up on this thing. Yes, you did real bad. Yeah, I cut part of my finger off
It was a good time. Yeah, some reason that one is way harder to get off from that one. Oh
Yeah, all the way baby. Oh, that's the best part of the ramp. Yeah, we got a
Trailers, they didn't have a ramp and the water ramp is so
Lovely sound right there. Yeah
So and we got all our deads in here right now because of all of our equipments in the venue
That's our back stock of merch way back there. We have like a three-layer system. So we do merch that is like
Surplus like like extra merch we start with that. That's that that's just ---- just in case we run out right after that
We have the sellables. That's where we put like crates
Very specific crates plastic crates full of the merch we plan on selling the subdivided
In your box when it goes next to that and then we have all of the music stuff and if we're feeling really not lazy
We take all the luggage we put in here
But depend it really just depends on how pissed we are. Sometimes we'll just be like leave it in the car
Yeah, we've only got an hour drive. We're like just ******* leave it. Yeah, it also depends on how
Brutal the weather is cuz yeah, New York. We uh, we got monsooned and it was not fun. We didn't like it was awful
Yeah, yeah, but this is sometimes I sleep on this
That's about I sleep anywhere I
I'm not a I'm not a I'll stand next to it when he's sleeping and I'll just rock it for him. I'll rock it
That's true. I'm not like everyone in this band
Treats me like a little baby. It makes me happy because I'm sitting there. I'm like, I have some milk. Yes
