And with us now is Nathan Wessenberg, Minnesota State Senator. Senator, thank you so much for
joining us. To begin, Border Patrol says an investigation into the incident is ongoing
and there are competing narratives about what exactly is happening there in Minneapolis.
Now, as one of the state's elected officials, how would you describe it?
Well, you know, I wasn't on the ground and I didn't see what happened. So I think rather
than people assuming that they know and, you know, these video clips come out right away,
a person such as myself, we need to let the investigation play out. You know,
you know, they're saying he was armed and that these officers defended themselves.
Then if that's what happened, then that's what happened. So, but I, you know, I wasn't there.
I can't say what happened and we need to let this play out. We can't have Tim Walls and Mayor,
Mayor Jacob Frey and other people just continue with their violent rhetoric. You know,
Tim Walls said a guy walked out of a donut shop and got shot. That's not what happened. He was
agitating police officers in the line of duty. Now today, Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested
that the anti-ice protests there are highly organized. Is this something you have looked into?
I, I guess I haven't personally looked into that, but I would assume that these are people
from out of state. You know, this is orchestrated chaos. We've got, we've got these Democrat
officials and they've committed fraud for who knows how long, maybe over a decade.
And this is all orchestrated to cover up that fraud. We've got people in Michigan working with
ice and Michigan's a Democrat state. We've got the mayor of Memphis, Tennessee working with ice.
These, these demonstrations aren't happening there and their local officials, their
elected Democrats are working to keep their city safe while the elected officials,
the Democrats in the state of Minnesota are causing chaos to hide their corruption.
Now, Governor Walls has now deployed the National Guard. Now,
is that likely to change the dynamic there in the city?
You know, I think the guard, if they're going to come in and they're going to try to keep law and
order, hopefully people are not going to be, they're going to be peacefully protesting,
which is your first amendment, right? But we can't be attacking people. And that's not what we want.
We don't want, we don't want to see people get shot. We don't want to see people harassing these,
these law enforcement officers. We don't want to see the National Guard, you know, being harassed
by these people. You can peacefully protest, but these protesters don't know what they're even
talking about. And we've got, we've got these Democrats egging this on. They're the lies
saying, you know, what Kristi Noem said, she took the words out of all her mouths and she's,
you know, she's right on point. This is all lies. They're saying the Republicans are the
Gestapo and we're mean and we hate people. We don't hate people. We don't care where you came
from. You have to work and take care of yourself. But when you're stealing, stealing money and labor
from hardworking individuals, this is wrong. If you came to America to be a good citizen,
you want, this isn't what good people do and watching this, you know, good people don't go
try to harm people doing their job. Now, president Trump has been asking where local law enforcement
is and why they aren't protecting the federal agents. So what do you know about that?
Well, I mean, in, in Minneapolis, it's, it's really hard to be not just Minneapolis in
Minnesota in general, it's hard to be a police officer because you want to do your job. But if
you do your job and you have to say like today, take a life, which is unfortunate because you
want to go home at the end of the day, you get prosecuted. So we're prosecuting police officers
for doing their job and we're, we're letting violent criminals go in Minnesota. We've got
a revolving door. We just, someone gets arrested, they get brought, brought in and they don't get
prosecuted. They get put right on the, right back on the streets. You know, we've got all these
violent criminals rather than just letting them go and not working with the federal government.
Why don't, why does the state of Minnesota hand them over? So we've got police officers that
from what I understand, even in the city of Minneapolis are leaving their jobs.
Some are, some are joining ICE because they want to protect the city when, you know, Mayor Jacob
Frey is not helping his police force at all. And these people have no backup by the government.
You know, why would you want to be a police officer in a state that says all you can do is
write, you can't even write speeding tickets. You can't even stop people for stealing cars.
In Minneapolis and St. Paul, it's illegal for the local police to stop you for stealing vehicles.
And what does the attorney general do? He sues KIA rather than arresting people for causing crimes.
All right. Nathan Wessenberg, Minnesota State Senator. Thank you so much for joining us.
Yes. Thank you.
