Starship V3 unexpectedly Exploded during test, Why? Flight 12 Launching in Days…
While the world is focused on Artemis 2, SLS, and Orion, something critical has been quietly unfolding at Starbase. SpaceX teams have been racing to prepare Booster 19 and Ship 39, moving both vehicles toward Launch Pad 2 faster than many expected. But just as things were moving forward, something went wrong at Massey’s test site.
So what’s really been happening behind the scenes? Let’s break it all down in today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

A few days ago, SpaceX issued a road closure notice starting at midnight on the 19th, lasting for about four hours. What immediately caught people’s attention was the description they used: “from Massey’s to Production.”
At first glance, many assumed this was simply another transport operation, moving test tanks back to the Mega Bays. But that turned out not to be the case. Even by the evening of the 19th, Test Tank 39.1 was still sitting at Massey’s, undergoing its fifth cryogenic test.
So if it wasn’t the test tanks… what exactly was being moved? Let me share something interesting with you.
What SpaceX actually transported was the Booster Cryo Stand, a massive test structure designed to support Super Heavy boosters and subject them to cryogenic and pressure testing. The stand had just undergone repairs and maintenance after its last use with Booster 18 nearly two months ago.
Starbase cameras captured some incredible footage: the cryo stand creeping along on a multi-axle transporter, its intricate network of piping shimmering under the headlights, before finally arriving at the Sanchez site, just outside Mega Bay 2.

This move signals that everything is being lined up for Booster 19. Once rolled out of the factory, it will be mounted on this stand and prepared for transport back to Massey’s for cryogenic and pressure testing.
That said, SpaceX hasn’t rolled it out just yet. They’re still completing internal work inside Mega Bay 1, installing the onboard computer systems, remote control hardware, and the propellant plumbing connections.
The wait shouldn’t be long. Historically, once a cryo test stand is moved like this, it usually enters the Mega Bay within a week before heading straight out to the test site. That puts Booster 19’s cryo testing window around the 28th or 29th.
