Álvaro, congratulations, a win in your first Champions League game as manager.
You must be very happy with this big performance from the team tonight.
Yes, very, very happy.
A lot of goals, great performance, great effort.
I think all the players enjoy playing in this way
and also our supporters, so I think it was a fantastic night.
A big performance from the players and a big performance from the supporters
as well, who are a little bit different to what we experienced here on Saturday.
Yes, I know. We need them.
That is really important for us and our supporters.
They know that if they are with us, we can fight for every title.
So I think it's a great night also for them.
Let's talk about Vinicius Junior, an incredible individual performance from him.
You're smiling. You know how good he was tonight.
Yes, I think it's a special night for Vinicius.
He made a really, really, really, really great game and scored a goal.
And I think all the support
and all the support for his teammates
and also from the Bernabeu, I think it has been a great night
and we are very happy for him.
Finally, Real Madrid just one point behind Barcelona in La Liga,
in the top eight in the Champions League as well.
There's still a lot to play for this season.
Yes, yes. Many, many games to come.
And we are there, one point behind in La Liga.
Now we go to Villarreal.
Difficult match against a tough team,
but we are with a lot of confidence after this game.
So let's do it.
Jude, tough few days, I imagine.
How tough has it been and how much was a win like this needed tonight?
Yes, I think to finally win with a lot of conviction.
I mean, we did it a couple of games ago against Betis, but it felt different today.
It felt like we controlled the game, played with the right intensity from the start.
So that was really important, obviously,
to put us in a better position in the top eight.
It's really nice.
And yes, an all-round very complete game from the team.
So yes, I'm really pleased.
As a player, how easier is it to play in an atmosphere like today
compared to the one on Saturday where there were a few whistles?
Yes, a little bit different, a little bit different.
I've always said, you know, the fans pay their money, work all week
and save up to come to Real Madrid games to support us.
So they're entitled to say what they want.
I don't think it's always very helpful for the team or for individuals.
Speaking from experience now, I know it's not the nicest thing in the world.
But of course, you know, they're entitled to their opinion.
And yes, the way we have to react is like the way we've reacted the last two games.
I think the second half the other day
and then the full 90 minutes today is the is the kind of performance
that the fans want to see and that we need to deliver for the fans,
but also for ourselves if we want to be successful this season.
On an individual level, an incredible performance from Vinicius tonight.
Felt like he needed that.
Yes, I mean, it was really sharp,
looked dangerous every time he had the ball, created loads.
But for me, you know, it's never any doubt when he has performances like that.
I think he's a player who thrives when he gets love.
I think, you know, you can see today when the kind of atmosphere changed towards him.
He goes up leaps and bounds in his game and becomes so much more
kind of joyful to watch and to play with.
You know, he starts to feel like he doesn't have to do as much.
I think that's the pressure that the kind of whistles put on a player.
But now it seems like he's free from those shackles a little bit
and hopefully can continue.
In La Liga, behind Barcelona, just one point in the top eight
in the Champions League as well.
This is what a crisis feels like at Real Madrid.
It's funny how things change in a couple of days.
It's yeah, it's it's a funny game, isn't it?
It's very fickle at times.
You know, things are up and down and down and up.
And I think, you know, the key is to remain neutral through it all.
You know, there's going to be moments when you feel like you're on top of the world
and you've got to tell yourself you need to do more.
And then there's times where you feel like you're at the bottom of the world,
trying to hold it up.
And, you know, you've got to tell yourself that you've just got to keep going
and do the right thing.
So, yeah, I'm sure it will continue to go like that at points in my career,
in the career of all my teammates.
But for now, it's nice to be on a bit of an up and hopefully we can carry on.
Finally, you scored today.
What was that celebration all about?
I mean, a lot of people say a lot of things.
You know, I mean, it feels like anyone now can get in front of a camera,
say what they want, and the whole world just believes them with no evidence.
And, you know, I feel like there's two ways you can take it, isn't it?
You can, you know, cry about it and moan or, you know, send a lawyer,
or you can just roll with it, enjoy it.
And, you know, it was a bit of a joke back to the fans and to the people
who say whatever they want.
And, yeah, for me, I know the truth.
I know what really goes on in my personal life.
I know what I give to the game, what I give in the games
and what I try and give to the team.
All the outside noise is just, it's just, it doesn't really matter.
But it's nice to have a little bit of a joke.
Good night. Congratulations for the victory.
We've seen so much dribbling tonight.
Would you say that you were inspired by your new coach, Alvaro Arbeloa?
Thank you, first of all.
Yeah, I think it was a great night for us as a team.
We played well and yeah, I mean, it's been in the last two or three months
I've had a bit of a difficult period where I was injured quite a lot
and even playing injured and yeah, I felt good tonight.
So I'm happy.
And the coach, the coach is helping me and supporting me.
So I'm really happy.
Would you say that tonight's win was his influence
or maybe it was your mentality after the last couple of difficult times?
Well, usually, you know, I'm a defender that dribbles a lot.
You know, for the people that have been following me, they know this.
And yeah, I'm like this.
I enjoy playing football.
And, you know, the first thing is to defend.
I'm unlucky we couldn't get the clean sheet tonight.
But yeah, I think we played amazing as a team and it was good.
How would you rate your opponent tonight?
Would you maybe mark some good points of their game?
Was there anything good in your opinion?
I think I think they're a good team.
But yeah, I just think we played really well tonight
and we were really well set up and yeah, we played.
We played really well.
So what is your plans for the rest of this season?
Hopefully win everything we can win.
And yeah, hopefully we can win the Champions League and La Liga.
And hopefully I can win the World Cup.
That would be all of those would be a dream for me.
You know, I'm hungry to win titles.
And yeah, that's it.
For any analyst watching it,
you could suspect that one of the key things in the defeat
was how many times Real Madrid managed to rob your players of the ball
in bad areas.
Was that the central reason
for the way that Monaco lost this match tonight?
I think we can have some regrets about the game,
especially first half, because we had an ambitious game plan.
Try to control the ball.
We plan to explore the space that Real Madrid will give us.
And it was exactly the case in the first half.
So for that, we need quality.
We need bravery to go through the lines.
We need good decision through the lines.
And actually, we didn't.
We had everything to execute it, but we didn't do it well.
So we exposed ourselves to the counter from them
and they punished us because of individual quality.
And second half, actually, we go through the same way.
And from bad decision, bad technical
execution, we give away some key moments.
