DIRTMASTERS MTB SLOPESTYLE 2024 - CAN I STILL MAKE THE FINALS?

Hello everyone, today is going to be epic! So we're out here at Winterberg for the Dirtmasters Festival, it's Day of Qualifying here on the Slopestyle event. It is super windy, if you remember last year and the year before and the year before that, it was probably windy then as well, so we're used to it and I'm going to do a lap through in these hurricane conditions. Let's get a lap through, I'm going to follow Oyster who's filming this as well, oi! Let's go! It's actually not windy, go, go! Here we go, so we get the same original start tower, into this big hip you can boost, let me get into these two again, yeah, oh wow that was so blowy! Dreamy, into this thing, Oyster's on form, oh he's firing down! Yes! That was well good, the random blows mid-air were so scary, quite aggressively strong as well, because you do like flip and get a bit like barrel-y, nice! Yeah we should actually session the bottom, probably a better idea, then I can flip that, I forgot to do that. Go on then Drake, Drake's doing insanities! Whale tail, yes! Sheep bounce! He's off course! Yeah it's nice, I mean, it is actually nice, yeah. I just keep expecting to get blown so I keep aiming left again, nothing happens, I just keep drifting. Nice! Yeah, nice one mate! Try and flip tucks on this steppy, oh a bit of wind though! Um, I just went like a tiny bit quicker it felt like, to go up and then, rather than like falling. It is super windy, what do we think is going to happen? Should we push the collies? Absolutely, super final! Yeah, two super final tonight! What do you reckon as a judge? I don't mind! Oh yeah, he's on, if you're a judge you're just on holiday, what do you reckon? Super finals Monday! Monday? Monday! That's the worst idea! We're going to find out soon if we do collies in the next half an hour, or later, we'll come back. It's the next morning, we actually had to cancel collies yesterday because of the wind, it's now 9am, which is ridiculous. We're straight into collies, it's quite a weird collies here, there's no crowd, no music, it's so early, my back hurts unbelievably, but I'm going to try and have some fun, see if I can qualify, see what happens. We're waiting for our turns to drop now, last year we were blessed with a super final, which meant we were all in, but now we've got to go through more fear, more often. Let's see if I can land it. Can't oppo 3 into that thing! Survived first run, put my foot down into that whale tail though, so that probably would have cost me 5 points or something, going to have to do it all again. My back really hurt before I dropped in and I used to have done my leg pulls, which opens the hips a bit, and worked out, so let's get ready for the next. Here we go, second run collies, I messed up in the first one dragging my foot at that oppo 3, so I'm going to switch it up completely, try and get through into the finals. So horrible riding this early in the morning. I was hanging on for dear life! Biking! Oh my god! Thanks guys, thank you for the appreciation, feels good from all you young guns. Cheers boss. Yes! That could be in there, that could be in, how exciting! Yes, you're old and good. 13th, in this day and age. That's what you have to do to qualify 13th, they're sports nuts. Half Pilgrim's age, he's double the age of some of the other riders. True, that's so horrible, let's delete that. Directly after collies it started raining, so now we're here at the finals. We've got to dry it all up, Christian's getting involved. Making it safe, you don't want to slide out going off here. Should be good though, the course was all tarped up, we're going to get a few practice laps then just straight into the final runs. Let's get it. Here we go, crowds picking up down there, it's getting pretty crazy. Contest runs coming now, it's always so scary, I've done it for so long but it gets worse. I'm scared. We've got one right in front of me, Andres Les, then I'm in. Here we go. Wow. Maneuvers. Pumped. Cheers dude. Sam, what inspired you to come every single year here to Stratform? The crowd, you guys are the best. Make some noise. What am I doing? I'm just trying to make my way down and survive. I want to try and do a mix of tricks and hopefully style. Very nice. You are coming back next year, back to Dorset? I'll be here forever, it's the best. To be first, that was amazing. Second run is going off, actually unbelievable. The kids are crazy, I love to be involved with those kids. Let's see what I can do, I'm going to switch it off a bit, see if I can get some more points. Messed it up. Survived. It's so annoying. But it's sick, I love it, it's so cool to be here. I'm in the street with Mayan, it drops straight lines. Parkter, I cut everything backstage. In the evening it's the backstage. They go crazy, it's the barman. On the pedal, I'm a barber. I take the handlebars, I slap it. Every day I do stunts. There is Marqueslo on the road, but we accelerate. Always above the crowd.
