Behind me you can see the FMS FCX10 Land Rover Discovery, a very successful truck launched at
the tail end of last year. One of three Land Rover licensed models from FMS, all in the fantastic
Camel Trophy. This was on the back of their successful range of four Land Rover models
released about a couple of years ago and here we have the FCX24 124 scale, same vehicle but a lot
smaller. Both absolutely fantastic value for money, both perform as good as they look,
little and large. Now there's a middle-sized one, it's not by FMS, it's by a company called JXC,
this is the LR1801. It's clearly a Land Rover Discovery, it's 118 scale and it comes in a
variety of liveries including this Paris Dakar style Raleigh livery. Welcome to RCScaleTales.
Another small truck has joined the fleet, let's waste no more time, let's open up the box and
check it out, enjoy. We have off-road there in big bold letters right across the top of the box there.
This is a new release from JXC, 2.4 gigahertz precision, full scale control system, ultimate
micro operation, 118 scale four-wheel drive model. There's one of the color schemes that you get.
Now the model is obviously a Land Rover Discovery but it's very very similar to the FMS in its look,
its style and how it's presented and I think it looks like they've just taken the FMS mold
and scaled it up to make it 118 scale. If we look at the other side, we have another
version of the livery, more green, grey, orange livery as opposed to the the blue version on this
side. There's a little picture of your controller, precision, full scale control system, we'll see
what that's like when we open it. When the box arrived, the the box was actually open on arrival
so I'm guessing I went through customs, had a little check of it just to have a closer look.
So let's open it up and see what's inside. So there you go, there is the JXC LR1801.
Now obviously this is the blue liveried version, lots of decals all over the truck,
lots of scale detail including a nice interior, a full roof rack,
spotlights on the top there, we have a snorkel, door mirrors, nice bull bar at the front,
fake winch, bumpers front and rear, light protectors, we have plastic wheels, nice crawler
tyres, they are not attached, not glued on, they do have a foam on the inside, they have a tow hitch
at the back, what else do you get in the box? You get a three channel controller, not the best
controllers, very cheap to be honest, cheap quality, there's a thumb steer there so you can thumb steer,
throttle, not bad, your third channel is at the side there, there's a side switch,
pull this up and underneath you have your basic adjustments, you have your lights, hazard lights,
throttle trim, steering trim, steering left and right and that EPB button,
controller is powered at the bottom, this one didn't come with a screw but it's two AA batteries
so we'll get some batteries in there later on, the truck comes with a 7.4 volt 380 milliamp
lithium polymer battery or lipo battery, it has a JST connection, same colour scheme as the FMS
batteries but it's actually branded JXC, it does look like it is swollen a little bit but I don't
think it's actually swollen, I think it's just the shape and size of the battery, so we'll get
on the car later, see how we get on, the car comes with a little phillips screwdriver, a cross wrench
and the wires that you connect from the roof rack to the bumper, bush wires, so we'll get them on
later, the car also comes with some basic instructions, three or four pages both in
English and Chinese with everything you need to know about your car, not the most comprehensive
instructions but probably more than adequate for the truck that you see in front of you,
a couple of sandboards that attach at the rear like so, just like the 124th FMS version
and it also comes with a USB battery charger, let's have a look underneath, it's a plastic chassis, a
twin rail chassis, all the components are plastic including the drive shafts, the suspension arms,
hubs etc, friction shocks, so we may need to replace them with some oil filled shocks,
yeah not a lot more I can really see about this, to access the battery compartment is in the bonnet
so the battery fits in there, so what we'll do is we'll put some batteries in the controller and
we'll put the battery in the car and see how it goes, so I've fitted two AA batteries into the
base of the controller, there wasn't actually a screw here, it just basically unclips and
fit the two batteries in, you press and hold the on off button, get a wee beep and you'll see the
green light flashing, to turn the car on there's a red button here, press and hold and all your
lights come on to show that the car is actually ready to go, the lights are controlled by two
buttons and basically it's as they are, press it again you have a strobe effect, press again
you have a slow flashing effect and again lights go off, you have turn signals front and rear,
you also have a hazard light button so all four lights are now flashing, your various trim control
for your throttle and steering, now channel three controls the speed of the vehicle so it's
the button is slid furthest to the left so it's the slow speed, so if I press it now it'll go
very slow, we'll just see what sort of power it has going over my hand, not bad really, let's try
it over one of these wheels, not bad at all, try a bigger wheel, no bother at all, so slide the switch
far to the right, car should now be in fast speed, nice rate of speed there and the middle,
car's now neutral, not in gear at all, so there you go, one thing I did notice actually,
let's turn the hazard lights off and the car is going forward, lights on,
they're brake lights, so not bad at all, so there's a size comparison with the 1 24th FCX
24 and the 1 18th GXC LR 1801 and there's the 1 10th FCX 10 in the background, so in comparison
this will show you the size difference, move that along there, put the wee one at the end
so you can see the size difference, so there is the GXC LR 1801, I have to say I'm well impressed
with this, for 45 pounds ready to run trail truck, now all I've done to make this slightly better is
put a set of FMS wheels, I think it came off an LC80 and it just, I think it's improved the look
a little bit and also it'll give a better performance out on the trail, I've added the
sand boards and the bush wires on the front, just adds to the scale of detail and I think it looks
absolutely amazing, so there you go, what do you think, let me know in the comments below,
and please like the video, let me know what you think about the truck, the video, the channel,
good or bad I will reply, if you haven't done so already please subscribe, anyway we'll catch
you on the next RC ScaleTails video, keep on crawling, keep on trailing, all the best now,
