It's finished..!!! Total revamp of our van after 3 Years on the road.

Good morning. Good morning. Well we left you last week with me doing the back and painting and putting the handles on. Well there's still a fair bit that needs to be done. We need to get the floor in and we've also got a lot of choice though so we're going to kind of have to go with whatever's available there. I don't want to drive for an hour to go and find some. No it's not perfect, it's not really what we were looking for but it's good enough you know. So we've decided to go for the grass. They've had AstroTurf in the last in the Airbnb so they're kind of used to going on that now. So no so it might not be a winner but we can have an argument about that when we're choosing. There's no argument to be had. The other thing we've also decided on is the upholstery because it was never completed. It was never completed. The final sewing parts were never done. I'll show you the bits you don't see and I'll show you but we've come up with a bit of another plan for that really haven't we? Well not really. I don't really know what we're going to do. We're getting rid of the back bit and just putting two cushions there or three cushions there because well we don't need such a big back bit and it always falls down and annoys us and the base I'm going to cover with a bit of material. But in the meantime we'll have a little chat about the campervan challenge. So if you're thinking about applying I'll leave a link in the description and the application process is now live. So we're at currently outside Maison du Monde which is a what is it? I don't know. It sells bits and pieces of furniture. Let's just show you. Good look at curtains for covering because it can be any kind of material. So yeah but that's also quite thin. Yeah I'm not looking at this I'm looking at these. Oh this is possible flooring. Yeah well they've got a nice choice of these. I know they've got some really nice colours. Yeah I know but they don't look much nicer. Well look it's 100 by 150 centimetres so it's not going to quite be enough. I think it's about 1.2. Is it the width? Yeah the width it's 1.2. Really? Doesn't look like 1.2 to me. I can assure you I've built the van it's 1.2. I thought that'd get a rise out of me. But this I've spotted as well that looks more hardy. Quite a lot of material to be fair. That is that's that's actually a pretty good material to go on there. Yeah. That's quite thick. What's the blue sticker? Not an orange one. No no I've said it already. I've said it. I've already said it. Okay. I'll take that. Right so that was relatively painless. You see now we've got the colour of the base then okay it's not a perfect match but you know it's tonal and they're a bit bigger so we're ending this by two. If you want to go for that darling. It's neutral. Keeps things simple. Yeah yeah we'll do that. Okay so back in the van and yeah. Yeah I'm kind of pleased with what we've bought actually to be fair. I think the cushions are going to be way more comfortable than what we have right now for sure. I think so yeah and also then the cover although it's light it can be washed it's cotton so if they get a mark on them if the dogs happen to put a paw print on them it's fine. Or puke on them. Well yeah that's also the possibility. Or other things. I'm good at I'm good at removing stains. It's a special skill. And we're just going to attach it with um not drawing pins are they? Nappy pins. No safety pins. Safety pins. Well they are they are essentially big nappy pins. As little people watching this wouldn't know what a nappy pin is. You know it's the pull-up ones aren't they? I know there's one that exists that was on my nappies. Must have been a big one to hold your nappies up. Well yeah I had clicky hips so I had these massive great nappies on them so they were big pins. Anyway um moving on from nappy talk. Well we're probably getting closer to the other end now. I need nappies again soon. Should keep hold of that pin. Yeah I've got about 20 years and I'll be back in nappies. Um but now we're just gonna go and get this other floor in. We didn't buy the one in there although that was perfect wasn't it? I've got to say it was ludicrously expensive. Um for one meter by one and a half meters it was 120 euros. So we're gonna go and get this floor in from this other shop that we went to last week. It's not perfect. It's not exactly what we want is it really? But like I say it gets battered so it's better than what we got. So um we're gonna go and grab that. Oh no way. We knew we should have freaking bought it then. No because we weren't sure were we? Well they've sold out. It really wasn't nice. I really thought there would be no problem with it being still here. Okay so it looks like we're back onto the grass then. I don't care. Well that will save us or serve us right for being indecisive. But it kind of was the first thing we saw. So yeah we weren't meant to have it. It's fine. We were literally looking around there looking oh that maybe we could put in there. Maybe that we could put in there. Stuff that's not even meant for flooring. It's like stay in the steel pan. Oh my god. So um so yeah flooring's gonna have to wait. There's no point in buying something you don't like. So we're gonna there's a couple of other retail estates around here but a bit further away that maybe we'll have to take a trip to but not today. Okay so as you can see decided to go somewhere else anyway. But we might as well. If we can try and find the flooring now then great. So we're just gonna whiz in here see what they got. Fingers crossed. Well we haven't been any more successful here because they kind of don't sell lino. We found some kind of laminate type thing. It's like normal laminate you know the thicker stuff you put in your floor but it's only four millimeters thick which is ideal. We'll work under our cupboards. Because you know Michelle when it slides out it needs to be thin enough so it can clear it. Clear it. So this may be the option. They do also do a stick one which you stick to the floor but the I'm not that confident after two and a half years of water spillages on the floor that that floor is actually going to be up to having stuff stuck on it. So we're going to go with a click one and see how we get on with that. It's not a dream floor but no no it's actually pretty cool. I think it's actually going to look really really cool when it's done. I think it's going to look really good. This is the color we're looking at and as you can see here this stuff is like super thin. It's really thin. So yeah that's what we're going to go for and price wise it's only 30 euros. It will do the job. If it doesn't we'll be out buying more flooring. I haven't got a jigsaw to cut this stuff with so I'm going to have to get a saw out just a handheld thing. I've not really got much to cut around to be honest so should be all right. Should be all right. Fingers crossed. He says. See you next week's video if you're having a tantrum somewhere. So I'm just gonna have a little look and see what the best way of doing this is. Flooring first. Cushion covers first. In fact I think it's gonna be the cushion covers first. I just want to have a look at the flooring on the floor and just make sure I made the right decision. I think I have. So let's do that first. Okay gotta say I'm pretty much liking that. I think it looks absolutely great but I definitely think I'm gonna need a saw. So I'm gonna have to go and get one of those. So should have just got one then but stupid. Absolutely stupid. Let's have a look what this fabric looks like now. One last thing that we did buy when we were in that last shop was some of these here things which we're going to spray paint gold to match up with the handles and I've also got some new rope nylon rope to do these little strings here and put one of these rings on the end of it to make it easier to use and it should also look vastly better. So now it's time what we're going to do because we've got the airbnb I'm going to take the cushions into the airbnb so we can lay the fabric down, cut it and pin it on so that it looks a lot better than that. That was a bit of a Heath Robinson throw on. I guess we'll be back in here in a little bit. Another one. It's not easy. Could do with definitely could do with bigger pins but they're working. They're working. There you go. Two cushion covers done. One thing that's really useful when you're doing things like that is dogs that insist on sitting on everything that you're working on. Oh baby you're always in the wrong place at the right time. The cushions are done. Safety pins in place. Safety pins way too small for the job that's been asked of them. I think we'll be buying bigger safety pins but for now it's kind of everything's in place so at least we know what it's going to look like. So let's take them back to the van and we'll see what they actually look like there. So should we go? Yeah. Actually also before we go my mother will be having kittens because using these to put this fabric on she's actually a whole career has been working with fabric and sewing and all that sort of stuff so mum you're welcome. Okay so flooring is almost done. I don't know if any of you ever have the same problem when you start something you don't see something else you could do and actually this would be good to do and that would be good to do. Well you'd be delighted to see that I have actually done the flooring. So this is a flooring. I've stuck a nice piece across the front here as well and I really love it. I think it looks absolutely superb and this is what I've been getting up to. So as you can see I've had all the cupboards out. I've put this new shelf in. This is new so I chucked that in because it was a waste of space. So I can put the pots and pans here whatever under there, food in here and whatever under there. Cleaned out the drawer, got everything out of there, cleaned out all the cupboards up here. This is all cleaned out, these are all cleaned out. So I'm going to leave it there for now and you can come back for the big reveal about now. Hi Ben, come on in. Come and have a look what I've been up to. Hiya, it's looking good. Yeah, what a change. It's a lot lighter. It is a lot lighter, I agree. Cupboards are nicely done, furniture's nicely done, all washed, even done the hob as well. It's like a brand new van. It is, it is. Like a brand new van. Good job. Nice little gold handles work well. The only thing is we haven't done anything on the fridge. No, no, no, the fridge deal. The fridge, the fridge. Nice fresh start. I think so. Cleaned all the taps, all the tiles are nicely cleaned, everything's looking like new. Sparkly. Anyway, that's pretty much it. This is pretty much 10 days worth of work gone into this and getting this sorted out, including you. I know you've not been doing anything in here, but you've been sorting all the stuff that we've taken out. About 50 machine wash loads of stuff. So for once, because we've got a storage container up the road, and rather than putting things in unarranged, everything's been organized, washed, so it's all good for next winter. And that's a first for us, so feeling quite organized right now. It's about time. Yeah, it's about time. It's only been two and a half years. Yeah, yeah, you finally got there, darling. I'll have to print you out a little sticker or something, you know, like Monica does in French. She prints her little waltz out. Yes. Yeah, maybe I'll do one for you. You do that. Okay.
