You will understand both the Ayurvedic wisdom and scientific basis behind castor oil, along with safe and correct ways to use it.
How to Use Castor Oil Safely
1. For Constipation (Occasional Use Only)
Castor oil stimulates intestinal movement and supports bowel clearance.
• Take 1 teaspoon castor oil mixed in warm water
• Consume once in a while, not daily
• Avoid if you have diarrhoea or gut sensitivity
2. For Dry Skin & Cracked Heels
Castor oil forms a protective layer and attracts moisture.
• Warm a few drops lightly
• Apply on dry areas at night
• Mix with coconut or sesame oil if skin is sensitive
3. For Hair Fall & Dandruff
Improves scalp circulation and reduces irritation caused by dryness or fungal growth.
• Warm 1–2 teaspoons
• Massage gently into the scalp
• Leave for 30 minutes, then wash
• Use once a week only
4. For Joint Pain & Inflammation
Reduces Vata-related stiffness and supports circulation.
• Warm the oil
• Massage the affected area
• Cover with a cloth for better absorption
5. For Abdominal Relaxation & Menstrual Comfort
Calms the nervous system and relaxes abdominal muscles.
• Soak a cotton cloth in warm castor oil
• Place on lower abdomen
• Cover with a hot water bag
• Keep for 20–30 minutes
6. For Better Sleep (Foot Application)
A traditional Ayurvedic method to calm the nervous system.
• Apply a small amount to soles
• Massage gently before bedtime
Important Precautions
• Do not consume castor oil during pregnancy
• Avoid internal use if you have diarrhoea
• Always use pure, cold-pressed castor oil

• Consult a doctor if you have medical conditions
Castor oil teaches us that healing does not need to be complicated. When used with understanding, simple remedies can support the body gently and effectively.
