Two months have passed since the aft section of Ship 39 was stacked.
Since then, numerous road closure schedules have been announced for movements between the Production Site and Massey, but none have involved Ship 39.
By contrast, the first Version 3 Starship is now surrounded by a dense scaffolding system inside Mega Bay 2.
So what is happening?
Many observers believe that SpaceX has identified issues with the heat shield, which remains one of the most challenging and critical systems on Starship.
If that is the case, what exactly is wrong with the heat shield on Ship 39? How does SpaceX plan to resolve these problems, and when can we expect major progress to resume?

It is safe to say that Ship 39 is raising significant concerns.
As mentioned earlier, its aft section was stacked with the rest of the vehicle in mid November, even before Booster 18 experienced its failure. At the time, this led many to believe that Ship 39 would be the first to roll out, regardless of how quickly Booster 19 completed stacking.
However, as of now, Ship 39 has not moved at all. In fact, it may even roll out later than Booster 19.
So what is the reason behind this delay?
Looking at Mega Bay 2 today, Ship 39 is completely surrounded by a dense white scaffolding structure. The system rises to nearly the full height of the vehicle and resembles a spider web wrapped around the ship.
With a structure of this scale in place, it is clear that a comprehensive inspection or modification process is underway. Based on prior experience, only the heat shield system typically requires work that spans such a large surface area.
This naturally leads to the next question. What is wrong with the heat shield?
