Patrick Dorgu, with the most successful crosses from open play for Manchester United this season,
has won his side a corner, to be taken by Bruno Fernandes from the Manchester United left.
Far side of the field, right-footed, in it comes, underneath the crossbar,
chance here, off the crossbar, Harry Maguire, he's headed it onto the crossbar and away,
turned behind, it's gonna be a goal kick.
Dorgu, what a pass that is to Amad, corner of the penalty area,
Amad takes it on, in the box, Amad with the shot,
chance for Casemiro, Casemiro lifts it, it's a save from Donnarumma,
and then another save from Donnarumma.
Ray and Chirky standing over it, Manchester City with numbers inside the penalty area,
it is lifted into the box where it's headed away with authority from Harry Maguire,
brilliant from Mbumo to flick it round the corner to Bruno Fernandes,
Fernandes got option, right-left centre, finds Mbumo in the area,
right away, cutting counter, it's gone by.
Kunya taking on O'Reilly, looks to get the cross in, Dorgu, fantastic,
he wags his socks off, he drills a brilliant cross in,
and Patrick Dorgu arriving in the penalty area,
smashes home for his second of the season, absolutely brilliant at the Stretford end.
And he's got Kunya, Kunya stayed onside, Kunya's in the area,
slid across the base and back.
I haven't got a minute.
The referee is going to give it as offside.
Seriously?
Wow.
It's the only thing that it could have been.
Manchester City in the 198th Manchester Derby.
Brian, that's a special win, isn't it?
Yeah, obviously a special moment for me,
yeah, winning here in the Manchester Derby,
in the stadium, was an unbelievable support, so yeah, a very good day.
Sometimes you win games and you've been the second best side,
you haven't been the best today, better all over the pitch than Manchester City.
How did it feel on the field?
Yeah, first of all, very good, very good, very happy,
but as well, we worked a lot.
We know they are very good on the ball,
but everyone was defending and waiting for opportunities,
and I think we created a lot of chances and we managed to defend very well.
We've been very solid, so I think overall it's a very good performance.
Talk us through your goal when the breakaway happens.
It's a brilliant header from Harry Maguire to start things off.
At what point do you realise that if you get the sprint in,
you're likely to get on the end of it?
Yeah, obviously when we come out from a high free-kick for them,
if there is a counter-opportunity, then I know they are not structured.
I saw a big space and I just sprinted into it,
and Bruno gave me the ball perfectly.
He's brilliant with the ball at his feet, isn't he, the captain?
Yeah, obviously everyone knows it,
so it's just easy to make the run.
You know the ball can come, or even you create a good run
and create space for another one, so it's very good.
I think even better, it could have been more than just the one for you,
more than two for United, and that's a really positive sign.
What's the difference been, do you think?
I think it's the team effort.
Everyone was doing their job,
everyone was defending, everyone was attacking,
so we've been a bit unlucky with the offside and stuff,
but I think it's a very good performance.
Arsenal next time again?
Yeah, we're going to go there for this.
Brian, thank you.
Patrick, a 2-0 win and another brilliant goal for you.
Let's start with the performance,
because everybody on the pitch deserved the Man of the Match trophy.
I think everybody was excellent, weren't they?
Yeah, everyone gave 100 per cent.
It's never easy to play against Man City,
they keep the ball so well,
so we needed to stick together in difficult moments,
and we did that really well.
I think in almost every department you were aggressive in the tackles,
you were quick on the counter-attacks.
How did that feel on the pitch, to be playing in a team that was that together,
that was able to cause Manchester City that many problems?
It feels good, we get the space in behind,
and it's never easy to play in these games,
but with these players we have, it's always easy to find the players,
because everyone wants the ball,
and you could see today that everyone was giving 100 per cent on the pitch.
You seem to only score brilliant goals for Manchester United,
can you talk us through that one?
I think Kounia did all the hard work, to be honest.
He did really well and it was a good cross,
and I just spotted the ball and I ran for it,
and luckily it went in.
How much of that is down to desire, though, Patrick?
Because, obviously, there's two defenders there,
you've got to really bust the gut to get in between the two of them, and you do that.
Yes, I just believed in my team-mate that he would put a good ball in there,
and I just closed my eyes and I hope it went in.
Absolutely brilliant, and it could have been more than two for Manchester United today as well.
I think we had three or four disallowed goals, so we were really dangerous.
I didn't think they had a shot on target today, so we played a tough game today.
I'm going to ask you the same question again today that I asked you last time,
and that is, you do enjoy playing a little bit further up the pitch, don't you?
Yes, I enjoy playing on the pitch, I don't care if it's in the defence or attacking,
I just want to be playing and I'm really happy right now.
Right, so 2-0 win against Manchester City, on to Arsenal next, same again?
Yes, we're going there to get three points, it will be another difficult game,
but we're going there to win, so hopefully we'll get three points.
Congratulations, Patrick.
Michael, I bet you've had crazier weeks, but I'm not sure you can count them on more than one hand.
No, I've had some crazy weeks in my time, but to be honest, it wasn't actually a crazy week, really.
I have to say, it's kind of felt controlled, it's kind of felt a bit normal, to be honest.
I know from the outside, it always looks very different to what it's like,
and everyone at the club's been so good,
and my coaching staff, the backroom staff, the players have been great.
So, it hasn't actually been the world-win that, probably, it seems.
Of course, we had a compressed kind of time to get the team and the players ready for today,
and they've been unbelievable this week, I have to say.
To be able to cope with the information and cope with a new kind of way and new people,
and then to put them emotionally in a game like that, to put it together in the way they did it,
I think a lot of credit needs to go to them.
We spoke on Tuesday and you said that you wanted to try and bring that mystique about coming back to Old Trafford for these fans
and not knowing what was going to come next.
You achieved that, didn't you, in your first game?
Yes, I hope everyone enjoyed it today.
Well, our side of things, for sure.
I think it's a special, special place.
There's an awful lot of people in this stadium that are willing us on,
and if we're going to show something, they've got to help us, obviously, at certain times.
But when it comes together and there's a feeling of connection,
it's just a very, very special place.
Today was everything, the feeling.
It kind of built, I thought, the emotion at the start
and the energy from the supporters.
The players certainly had it, leaving the changing room,
and it built as the game went on and to finish like it did.
It would have been lovely to finish on a high with a goal,
but a really clean sheet was vital and the energy in the stadium.
I think for everyone to feel it, it means a lot
and we've got to use that for fuel to excite us and drive us on to the next one.
Concentration, togetherness, defensively aggressive, attacking with pace.
It felt like a very mature performance from your side.
Yeah, we obviously had a game plan and we had things we wanted to try and achieve in the game,
and the boys took it on board, it's the same thing,
tactics are one thing, words are another.
You've got to put it in, make it happen and bring it live,
and the boys, honestly, today, everything about them was spot-on.
Just the beginning, Michael, thank you.
Thanks a lot, cheers.
Very happy dressing room and a very happy studio.
Happy Reds all over the world, wherever you've been watching.
To sum up, a brilliant game and to look ahead to Arsenal now.
Bardo, how excited are you for the team's trip to the Emirates
and the potential that game gives, given the level of performance we've seen here?
Well, they're the standards, they're the levels, they've set them.
Absolutely love watching the team today.
It's been a while since I could sit here and say I've loved watching them,
but today, absolutely loved it.
Arsenal will be a tough challenge, they're an outstanding team.
For me, they're going to run away with a league,
I think the strength and depth that they've got,
but I think the levels that we've shown today,
I think we can go there and we can cause a real problem.
I hope everybody at home is as excited as we are for the trip to Arsenal.
Make sure you join us on MUTV and on the Manchester Night Light
for all the build-up to that, but from a very happy Old Trafford,
enjoy your week and we'll see you at the Emirates.
