Jakub Mensik vs Sebastian Baez For The Title! 🏆 | Auckland 2026 Final Highlights

He's joking that it's good prep for the Aussie Open, of course, which starts tomorrow, best of five set matches. So he might not be his freshest. Oh, that's remarkable. What a service game. Ten out of ten. Taking a bit of pace off that finals. All on clay as well, so. It's a monster forehand. It's a shame, that's going to hurt. It's a poor game by players' standards. Three misses off the forehand. Break, 4-2. Ready and waiting. In this combination, the big serve and the soft hands. Coming into play to produce the drop shot. Impressive set of tennis from Jakob Menchik. Doesn't in any way look overwhelmed or stressed. Out here today. On a big day. Always doable. He's moving the ball around beautifully that time. It's one of the best points he's played. 14-15. Just confirmed for him how he needs to be simply shot. It's somewhat the story of the day. From both players. Admiring the tennis from Menchik initially. But he was equal to it. Yes, that's good. Placement back behind Menchik. That was a little special. Maybe a touch of fortune. That's quality tennis from both. What an excellent point. Byers withstanding so much pressure early in that rally. It was obvious Menchik just... Saves the first. It's long, so Byers survives. Menchik strikes. In truth, a poor service game at the wrong time for Byers. But credit to the unchecked. Breaks, another shaky forehand. Goes long. That is very special. To save the first set point. Saves another. Quality return. Second chance to finish the job. Jaeger Menchik is the champion in Auckland. The second ATP title to add to the Miami trophy from last season. And the perfect start to his season. What a dramatic finish. Failed to serve it out initially at 6-5. And was 6-3 down in the break-up before coming to life. Just in time. He can breathe a big sigh of relief. Big, big week for this youngster from Czechia. He is the champion here at the ASB Classic. And he's a popular champion at that in straights today. 6-3, 7-6. He is singles champion. Ladies and gentlemen, the player that is Joachim Menchik.
